Beyonce Knowles rose to fame as a member of the R&B ensemble Destiny's Child. With Beyonce's father as a manager, the group garnered massive success with their 2001 album, SURVIVOR. Soon Beyonce, sporting a sexy yet girl-next-door image, broke out on her own, with major roles in the Austin Powers movie GOLDMEMBER, a hip-hop version of the opera CARMEN, and her star turn as a Diana Ross-esque diva in the film DREAMGIRLS. With the release of her more eclectic solo albums and acting roles, Beyonce became a full-fledged international superstar and role model. It has been rumoured that after her 2008 marriage to rap mogul Jay Z, Beyonce would be performing and recording less and focussing on A&R work. - HMV

Formed in the mid-1980s, the British electropop dance duo Pet Shop Boys neatly summed up the age of WALL STREET player Gordon Gecko's greed-is-good dictum and Ronald Reagan's trickle-down economics policy in one of their early singles, "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)." However, unlike most of their companions in the 1980s charts, they proved to have remarkable staying power, scoring hits throughout the decade and well into the '90s, and undertaking intriguing and successful collaborations with iconic pop artists like Dusty Springfield and Liza Minnelli. Their later projects included scoring a West End musical and a 2004 live soundtrack to the classic 1920s Russian film, BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN - HMV

In the early 1970s, Bill Withers created a completely fresh mixture of southern R&B, folk, singer/songwriter pop, and soul music, which he employed to great effect on several classic hit singles. Several of Withers' songs have become pop standards, covered by scores of singers and sampled by countless hip-hoppers. Unfortunately, as Withers often shies away from the limelight, his later output has been extremely sporadic. - HMV

Hi Guys, This past week is very intresting in chart shows and the charts itself in both the US & UK. First we said goodbye to Hit40UK and hello to a new countdown rivials who based its top 10 on Itunes chart.

While in America, we mourn the loss the of the Music magazine Radio & Records which for several years was Billboard's main foe until the company that owns Billboard bought them three years ago.

And sadly, we here in the US were saddened to here the news that the original host of AT40, Casey Kasem will end his ride counting down the biggest hit in America next month after 39 years when his show At20 and At10 will be going off the air.

any comments or memories of any of the above I mentioned?

Casey Kasem = Legend.
