June 20, 200916 yr also, I either really liked or absolutely loved all of your entries (even Carola - 8 points in the semi I think :kink:) apart from the god awful Monica and Martina, the former I don't think would have done any better any closer to christmas either, on account of it sounding quite dated...I did really like your home made video though! Why did Laura Stevenson change her name to Elle? Yes I think Herzebania is the country that sends all the songs that you really like but wouldn't dream of sending yourself, hence the rather limited appeal alot of them seem to have! And she changed her name because apparently there is some other Laura Stevenson from America around...

And she changed her name because apparently there is some other Laura Stevenson from America around... maybe! although I would have quite probably sent Agnes had you and 3 or 4 other people not heard it before I did :P oh right, I really liked Down, very underrated song...I think I gave it a fair few points
June 20, 200916 yr Not all of them, I suspected you were taking the mick (on account of the song being terrible) but thought it was a rather interesting experiment actually :o It wasn't completely taking the mick...still it caused an amount of consternation that something like that probably wouldn't have done about 10 contests ago  Edited June 20, 200916 yr by Peter30
June 20, 200916 yr It wasn't really serious offence, it was just kind of annoying in much the same way as Scooch getting sent for the UK was annoying - it just conformed to preconceived stereotypes :P
August 28, 200915 yr Author BJSC XVIII - Röyksopp (feat. Karin Dreijer Anderssen) - This Must Be It. Came 17th. Not much to say. I do like the song.
August 29, 200915 yr Here we go, this should be fun: BJSC I \\ Sugababes // Push The Button \\ 8th // 77points Amazing track, not such an amazing BJSC entry, but hey ho. In hindsight i'd possibly send something more unknown rather than the track that was their biggest #1 to date at the time. 8th is a respectable debut, anywhere apart from the 1st contest  Fotherington Islands was here! BJSC II \\ Laura Critchley // What Do We Do \\ 21st // 44points Nice little ballad, didn't do very well at all. Even in the early contests ballads were a surefire way to flop. Still love this track and i'm glad i sent it. Can't wait for Laura's new stuff to leak, see if there's some BJSC worthy stuff in it. Last Contest as Fotherington Islands BJSC III \\ Mutya Buena // Addiction \\ 16th // 42points ----- Lowest Points Slight pick up from the month before. Starting the recycling trend by using former Queen, Mutya for the second time. An unknown demo track that possibly would do better with the recent influx of the RnB block. The Ashton name makes it's debut replacing Fotherington Islands. BJSC IV \\ Dragonette // True Believer \\ =9th // 56points Continuing the improvement, Dragonette really step up the game to get our name out there. True Believer showed us a ballad can do well if it's done properly, i.e. by an electropop band. Remains one of my favourite entries. BJSC V \\ Sugababes // Hole In The Head [Live] \\ =4th // 70points : TBO-SF1-DNQ First top 5 for Ashton as Ashtonise favourites the Sugababes appear again with Hole In The Head live. Complete with the live only 4th verse and Amelle instead of Mutya, we turned a cheap song into something less cheap and it proved a success. BJSC VI \\ Lily Allen // I Don't Know \\ 2nd // 99points : TBO-SF1-DNQ ----- Highest Finish The fantastic, freshly leaked spectacular track from Lily went on to give us our best finish to date. Retitled The Fear, it hit the top spot on worldwide charts 8months later. One of Ashton's signature entries may have failed to make TBOI-X final but i am so so so proud of this track. Love it to bits, and sparked a little trend of using fresh leaks :kink: BJSC VII \\ Red Blooded Women // Colour Me Dirty \\ 14th // 67points Another one of our signature tracks and our proudest moment to date. Stunning track, stunning band. Dubbed the 'Mighty Ashton' by the band the track was as high as 5th during the results. In our opinion the best track we have entered and the first 12 from FSR Rontvia BJSC VIII \\ Gabriella Cilmi // Got No Place To Go \\ 7th // 101points From the album of 2008, Gabriella appeared for the first time for Ashton with a stunnin track and proved us to be a force to reckoned with. First 3 figure result was a good day for Ashton BJSC IX \\ Amy MacDonald // Barrowland Ballroom \\ 9th // 107points Continuing the top run and with another 3 figure finish. Lovely track, good finish. Glad i entered this. BJSC X \\ Sugababes // Never Gonna Dance Again \\ DNQ // 50pts in SF1 This did not happen. BJSC XI \\ Gabriella Cilmi // Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now \\ 8th // 105points Gabriella's best track to date helped us back into the top 10 and forget X ever happened. One of our top5 entries. BJSC XII \\ Red Blooded Women // You Made Your Bed \\ 20th // 67points First BJSC entry to be fully endorsed by the artist, YMYB failed to match the standard set by CMD. Still love this track, and it really sealed the Ashtonise love affair with Red Blooded Women BJSC XIII \\ Lorelei Carlson // Alone \\ 16th // 69points Kick starting the Risks FTW strategy, Lorelei followed RBW with a stunning but subtle track with that hook BJSC XIV \\ Lily Allen // Back To The Start \\ 17th // 91points Suffering slightly from the ACM backlash, Lily continued Ashton's streak of mediocre results with good songs. BJSC XV \\ Haffi Haff // Give Me Sexy \\ 23rd // 65points -------- = Lowest Finish Ashton's first male became infamous for the Haffi vs Petros competition. I still love the track. Restarted Risks FTW BJSC XVI \\ Alex Roots // Don't Stop Looking \\ 5th // 113points -------- Highest Points Following from a disastrous month it looked like Risks FTW was starting to pay off with Alex making the top5 with a Ashtonise Points record. Another Signature Ashtonise track. BJSC XVII \\ Nevio & Gabriella Cilmi // Non Ti Aspettavo \\ DNQ // SF1 - 48points Utterly disgusted at this DNQ, making this a signature entry for being such a shock DNQ. The part Italian/part English sensational mid tempo which was tipped to win by Nonsuch fell at the first hurdle. The Italian male didn't make it our most BJSC friendly entry. BJSC XVIII \\ Delta Goodrem // Electric Storm \\ 18th // 83points Resisting the urge to do a cheap 'un and reclaim our former glory, but we sent the cursed Delta instead with the sensational Electric Storm. It qualified and returned us to the top 20. We lost our Big5 placing but still refuse to go cheap to reclaim it. BJSC XIX \\ Cinderella Theory // IN2U \\ 23rd // 70points ------- = Lowest Finish Yet another artist backed entry from Ashton. The long awaited appearance of Artist X did not live up to expectations. Coming 11th-15th on most lists the band limped home in 23rd. BJSC XX \\ Tone Damli Aaberge // Butterflies \\ TBC // TBC Stunning track, but an NF entry. Can it restore Ashton to it's former glory in our 20th competition???
August 29, 200915 yr BJSC 07 - Solange - Sandcastle Disco // 8th Amazing song and I was new to it all so I didn't really have any idea how it'd do at the time really. But I'm glad it done so well, one of my favourite entries I've sent and I think alot of people heard it and appreciated it where they wouldnt have done so otherwise so YAY for that! BJSC08 - Little Jackie - The World Should Revolve Around Me // 2nd My best result so far! I don't think I'll ever win so it'll probably end up always being my best result :heehee:. Still even though it was kind of cheap I adored it at the time and is such a happy feel good fun pop song! ^_^ BJSC09 - Danity Kane - Bad Girl // 22nd Aww I actually really liked this song and thought it would've done okay-ish! :( I guess it's a bit too R&B for Buzzjack though I guess looking back. Still even if some people heard it that wouldn't have that's enough for me! BJSC10 - VV Brown - Crying Blood // 7th Amazing song from one of my favourite new artists of the year! Admittedly I do actually prefer her other two singles but this is still great and I'm pleased it did as well as it did. BJSC11 - Jessica Mauboy - Running Back // 22nd My biggest disappointment in BJSC I think :/. I loved this song so much and thought it would appeal to many people in the contest but obviously not. Still it's a great mid-tempo BJSC12 - Jessica Malakouti - Trash Me // 10th I loved this even if the lyrics were cringey as! It was just a really good fun pop song and really catchy too! I'm glad some people discovered it because of BJSC too! BJSC13 - Jazmine Sullivan - Dream Big // DNQ I really thought this was a good entry! :( It's a really good RnB song and I thought it was very catchy with a big chorus too. I guess not though, also the start of my consecutive DNQ's. FUN TIMEZ. BJSC14 - Kesha - Backstabber // DNQ  WTF was I thinking with this? Yeah it's an okay song but it's nothing special at all really. BJSC15 - Paul Oakenfold ft. Brittany Murphy - Faster Kill Pussycat // DNQ I think I went for the cheap option and just wanted to qualify by this time. :( The songs good but so uninspired, last time I send an old random hit. BJSC16 - Paloma Faith - Stone Cold Sober // DNQ Looking back, it's weird to see this not qualify. Quite alot of people on BJ love it (well that I'm aware of) and it didn't even manage to qualify! Strange. Amazing song and even though it was a tiny bit cheap I think I just wanted to qualify! BJSC17 - Black Eyed Peas - Missing You // 22nd At least its qualified! It's by far one of my faves off of the new album and has a really big chorus which Fergie sounds amazing on. I'm hoping it'll do well but I'm expecting a mid table result I think. BJSC18 - Cobra Starship ft. Leighton Meester - Good Girls Go Bad // 4th My best result since 8th contest! :o Ten contests ago ... my biggest victory points wise too. Still absolutely love this song now, one of my fave songs of the year even. Just a really good pop song with really good production ... considered it for two contests as well but didn't think it would do so well. But yeah, I love it and I'm glad it done so well. Would've loved 3rd though seeing as I would've got to host :( :P BJSC19 - Kid Sister - Right Hand Hi // 22nd Annoyed it gave me my third 22nd! :( :P Was kind of different for me I think seeing as it was rap but I'm still glad alot of people liked it and discovered it through this contest. I'm kind of just glad it qualified I think. BJSC20 - Cassie Davis - Do It Again // ?? Really proud of it coz I found it all by my own! :P Well, I kind of did with Kid Sister too, but this was a find on youtube! Really catchy song and different for me ... sounds almost Paramore/Veronicas esque. Absolute killer chorus too, I'm optimistic and hoping it'll go Top 10! Updated ^_^
August 29, 200915 yr BJSC VII Avril Lavigne - Nobody's Home 25th Place This was my debut entry which at the time I didn't consider cheap as I didn't really understand the contest. I'm happy it came 25th, but if I'd debuted now I certainly would not have sent this. BJSC VIII ABBA - The Day Before You Came DNQ - Last in semi I honestly don't know what I was thinking here, I love ABBA but really I shouldn't have sent them, it took me a while to get a hang of this contest :P BJSC IX Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus - Get Ready, Get Set, Don't Go DNQ - Last in semi My most cringeworthy entry, again another wtf moment. I like the song, but it deserved to lose its semi :kink: BJSC X Dido - Look No Further DNQ - 18th in semi I'd started to understand the contest a bit more now and sent a well known artist with a new song, I really like this song and I think it should've qualified, but in the end it may have been a bit too cheap. BJSC XI Ana Free - In My Place DNQ - 18th in semi I was absolutely gutted when this DNQ'd, an amazing pop song from an unknown artist, the odds predicted it to make the final, so I was really hoping I would turn my form around. I still consider this one of my favourite entries. BJSC XII The Wondergirls - Nobody DNQ - 15th in semi This song is so catchy and if the full english version was about back then I think it would've nipped into the final, I was only four points off it and I still love this song. BJSC XIII NKOTB ft Lady GaGa - Big Girl Now DNQ - 16th in semi This was the point where people were PMing me sending me suggestions and I really liked this song, it was catchy although the LQ version may have hindered it. BJSC XIV Velvet - Take My Body Close 3rd place This was the turning point, I found this song on a random youtube search and knew it was to be my entry, BJSCXIV was quite low standard and there was a lot of cheap entries, but I'm proud of this for beating some of the better known songs and putting Nickodonia on the map :kink:. BJSC XV Mira Craig - I'm The One 27th place  What a goddess. I had to send this amazing song and since I'd autoqualified there was nothing to lose, I expected it to come last in the final, so 27th was a bonus. This is probably my favourite entry. BJSC XVI Laura Marling - Ghosts 23rd place I was a bit short of ideas and just thought I'd send something I loved, I really didn't expect it to make the final, it's such a nice song but I think 23rd was about right for it. BJSC XVII AySel - Say Maybe DNQ - 18th in semi This for me is pop perfection, I really love AySel and this song is  However, I feel that being drawn in a semi without Eurovision fans along with a LQ rip of the song may have been part of the reason this DNQ'd. BJSC XVIII Polly Scattergood - Other Too Endless 20th place This song is incredible, I didn't expect it to Q and I was ecstatic when I saw people predicting it for top 10, I was a bit dissapointed with 20th, however, looking back it's a relief to get a second semi hit :kink:. BJSC XIX Bird - Bad Connection DNQ - 17th in semi This entry was quite a big risk, it's repetitive and a bit experimental. I didn't expect it to Q and I'm really proud of how well it did, picking up lots of big points in the semis and introducing people to a great artist. BJSC XX Annet Artani - Alive TBA Love this song. Really hope it can do well! Edited August 29, 200915 yr by nickthenoodle

September 2, 200915 yr i still fail to understand how Faster Kill Pussycat DNQ'd  amazing song
September 3, 200915 yr BJSC07 | Maroon 5 & Rihanna - If I Never See Your Face Again [11th, 76pts (Semi 1: 2nd, 98pts)] In my opinion, this is most certainly my cheapest entry. I really liked the song (and still LOVE it) and thought it would be great to launch my BJSC career. Which it was, gaining me my higest finish of 11th in all my contests. BJSC09 | The Script - Fall For Anything [24th, 42pts (Semi 2: 7th, 59pts)] I first found this as the B-Side to We Cry. I absoloutely loved it and wonder why it wasn't a single :o Then they stuck it on the album and i suddenly felt like i was being cheap...even though i wasn't  BJSC10 | CSS - Jager Yoga [DNQ (Semi 1: 14th, 45pts)] I was trying to reach out to the alternative fans because i LOVED left behind. Don't think much of this song now though...then again, i didn't think much of it then. BJSC11 | Metro Station - Shake It [DNQ (Semi 1: 14th, 55pts)] Discovered this through looking at the Australian iTunes song. I loved this. Made #12 in my chart purely off the base of BJSC (Has never happened before). Eventually went #1 when released in the UK this year. I don't think it was cheap because not that many people had heard it...but then again...not many people liked it clearly  BJSC12 | Feeder - Sweet 16 [27th, 35pts (Semi 1: 13th, 50pts)] My beloved Feeder had to be entered eventually. What a perfect song to enter...their best material imo and i was currently obsessing over Gran Turismo 1 and recently bout the Swim EP. :) Obviously not happy with it not coming first tbhz. but i suppose qualifying was an achievement. :cheer: BJSC14 | Remi Nicole - Rock 'N' Roll [DNQ (Semi 1: 15th, 56pts)] Was listening to her album when i saw a couple of song which i thought would be huge in the BJSC. I tipped Remi as the far better alternative to VV Brown...Leave ended up qualifying and this ended up unfortunately missing the cut. :( Many tipped this to do well...but the hype just wasn't met. BJSC17 | Ash - Return Of White Rabbit [29th, 14pts (Semi 1: 13th, 55pts)] Wasn't tipped to do anything. In fact, only one person in the odds even predicted it to qualify. Languished at the bottom of the table for the whole of the final picking up it's first point in the 39th set of votes. Not an exciting day for our country. :( But it is a fantastic single by Ash. BJSC18 | Girls Aloud - Miss You Bow Wow [QOD Radio Edit] [27th, 43pts (Semi 1: 10th, 62pts)] My very own Radio Edit of this fantastic song. Seriously underperformed in the final. I thought i'd be cheap in a non-cheap way as i was entering something that was kinda created by me (ish). :P It made the final which i wasn't at all surprised about judging by my final appearances with Ash and Feeder...but to only come 27th out of 29th was really a dissapointment. :( BJSC19 | Muse - Uprising [DNQ (Semi 2: 22nd, 29pts)] How this failed i have no idea, i LOVE this song...it sounds like a classic to me. Many expressed their love for this song...maybe all of my voters were in the other semi...i don't know...but it really was disastrous to see this languishing down at 22nd out of 24 in the semi. :( BJSC20 | Agnes - Love Love Love [TBA (Semi 1: TBA)] We'll have to wait and see. ;) -------------- BJSC#10sSPINOFF | Muse - Knights Of Cydonia [18th, 50pts] One of the best songs ever. Actually...three of the best songs ever were #10s  Fill My Little World and my beloved Feeder were already taken so i settled for Knights Of Cydonia. Fantastic song and i'm glad i chose to enter it as it done better than the 2 previously mentioned. Edited September 3, 200915 yr by Brokeback Dan
September 3, 200915 yr Small update! BJSC XVIII - Marie Serneholt - Disconnect Me - 21st place / 70 points (SF2 12th place / 54 pts) After a long search for a decent Swedish song to enter, I settled on this at the last minute, to try and rectify the Martina horror and prove to people that not all Eurovision national final songs are atrocious. I suppose I went some way to proving that by qualifying, although I suppose it didn't really have much special about it to get much higher than it did. I was a bit gutted to be abandoned by most of the Eurovision / Scandi-pop fans, but it was made up for by an extremely unexpected 6 points from Mdice!! BJSC XIX - The Dixie Chicks - Rainbow Connection - DNQ (SF1 20th place / 33 pts) Just to clarify, I never thought that this would do well. I had intended to take the month off the contest but thanks to the new waiting list system, this wasn't an option any more, so I knew that I had to enter something, and I hadn't found anything worth entering. So I just went with one of my all-time favourite songs, and chose this recently discovered version by the Dixie Chicks. It was nice to recieve a couple of 10s and 8s, and would I be correct in thinking that this gets the record for the biggest flop for a second attempt by a former winner? BJSC XX - Millionaires - Take Your Shirt Off - TBC / TBC OK it's time for honesty here. I always send songs that I really love, which are usually pure pop songs that I think are quite catchy, or nice ballads. However, most of my entries don't tend to be flavour of the month, and while my tastes are shared by a select couple of people, I tend to differ a bit from Buzzjack as a whole, as is reflected in my votes as well. I haven't given points to the winners of the previous two contests, as the competition has taken a slightly more trashy turn in the musical scheme of things. I'm honestly not ranting, I'm just saying that while the Millionaires offering isn't my favourite of my entries to date.... You want trashy?? Here's just about as trashy as they come!! It's the Millionaires! ZbRC5UwJbrM
September 3, 200915 yr VII: Gavin Mikhail 'Fight the Sky' - DNQ - GUTTED This DNQ'd :( I thought it was quite a strong track, but it's a MALE so I should have guessed! :drama: VIII: Kate Nash 'Skeleton Song' - 13th - My first Qualification and my first "hit". My favourite from her album. IX: Twiins 'I Don't Know Why' - 18th - I really thought I found a potential Top 10'r here OBVIOUSLY I saw something most others unfortunately didn't see :(, STILL play this quite a bit. X: Katy Perry 'Self Inflicted' - 18th - I REGRET sending this now, and NOT 'Hot N Cold' as that could have been a potential winner at the time, as nobody heard it then. However 'Self Inflicted' still remains one of my favourite tracks from her, so I don't feel TOO bad :P XI: Britney Spears 'Everytime (Hi-Bias Remix)' - 27th [Last] - HA! I sent this as I really WAS stuck for entries and just saw the single on my shelf and remembered this remix  XII: Gavin Mikhail 'Brave' - DNQ - You would have thought I learnt my lesson if 'Fight the Sky' couldn't Qualify, then this obviously wouldn't :( Shame really as he is a really good singer/songwriter! XIII: Yolanda Adams 'I Believe' - DNQ - Well this came as I was routing through some old compilations that I used to make :heehee: and I thought it would be perfect, obviously NOT haha! :( XIV: Rihanna 'Hatin' On the Club' - 26th - As soon as I confirmed, I was thinking to myself, WHAT ON EARTH?! LMAO. I was just caught in the moment when picking I guess HA! XV: Keri Hilson feat. Kanye West & Ne-Yo 'Knock You Down' - 10th - My BEST finishing place so far, and what a song to do it with! My favourite single of the year so far, I personally think it deserved better than 10th :( But I believe people started to like it AFTER they bloody voted :P XVI: The Yeah Yous '15 Minutes' - 26th - Well, I was in LOVE with this at the time I entered it, but now I've gone off it already LOL! Don't regret sending it though. XVII: LeToya 'She Ain't Got $h!t' - 6th - Still really adore this. Really pleased it leaked in time and although I am slightly annoyed it has beat my favourite single of the year ('Knock You Down' for those who don't know :heehee:) position and points wise. Hopefully this means I'll have TWO potential songs in the next Best-Of :kink: XVIII: Solange 'Cosmic Journey' - DNQ - Probably the riskiest entry I've ever sent. It was a 6 minute love-in. Really like the song and after a couple of persuasions after not finding anything at all for that contest I decided to enter it. DNQ'd with just 1 POINT for me to qualify! :( XIX: Kristinia DeBarge 'Sabotage' - 18th - LOL! An early favourite that went on to bomb (ala Kathreya from BB last year)! The problem with this was there were too many similar songs in this particular contest. Didn't stand out that much. XX: Cindy Gomez 'Again & Again' - ??? - My proudest entry to date I think. This song is really weird to me. I considered this for the past contest or so, but it never really struck me until I was reading through my NF to see if I could re-use any of the previous songs I had thought about using for past contests, and this finally hit me. I really don't understand why I didn't choose it before TBH! :drama: SpinOff 1: The Killers 'Mr Brightside' - 4th - My ALL TIME favourite song! So GLAD it was a UK Number 10's contest. Although the song deserved to do better chart-wise, it has really become their signature song, and when they play it live, the whole place ERUPTS! (Well that's from what I've HEARD :() SpinOff 2: DIDNOTENTER! ------------------------------------------------------ Added LeToya, Solange, Kristinia & Cindy! :)

I'm honestly not ranting, I'm just saying that while the Millionaires offering isn't my favourite of my entries to date.... You want trashy?? Here's just about as trashy as they come!! It's the Millionaires! ZbRC5UwJbrM Disconnect Me is and always has been average to me, hence nul points from Rontvia -_- The Rainbow Connection on the other hand was beautiful, far better than the Sarah McLachlan version I had beforehand
September 3, 200915 yr BJSC VI - The Corrs - Dreams - 13th in Final For my first entry I searched youtube for songs, back then my artist vocabulary was pretty small so I could only search for artists that would have gotten air time on radio or were somewhat popular. Searching for more obscure artists didn't even come into my head. They managed to bring a very respectable debut for Dalisska which I'm really thankful for. BJSC VII - Creamy - I'm a little yellow fish - 18th in final I know some people think of this as one of my weaker entries and even though it's not near my fav out of all my entries it still has a special place in Dalisska's repertoire of songs. It was just very catchy and upbeat, again I found it by searching aimlessly on youtube :P BJSC VIII - Roisin Murphy - You know me better - 17th in final This was the first of my entries that I really loved. The first two I really liked but I'll admit I was mostly testing the waters and looking more for a song that would do well rather than a song I actually loved. I have to admit I thought it should have done a bit better than it did. I found this song on youtube aswell. BJSC IX - Marie Digby - Say it again - 15th in semi (DNQ) Dalisska's first DNQ, I suppose it had to come eventually. Unfortunately it had to happen to Marie Digby with a brialliant song that didn't get the appreciation it deserved. I found this song while searching on youtube. One day Marie Digby will return and claim a place in the final as she deserves. BJSC X - Colbie Caillot - Battle - 15th in semi (DNQ) Dalisska did the double, but not in the nice way replicating it's previous result almost identically. I'll admit after Marie's failure I was feeling a bit desparate for a song that would do very well and as soon as I heard someone say it would likely do well I was hooked in. I really liked the song though and it's a shame it didn't qualify. I found this song on youtube aswell. BJSC XI - Kate Miller-Heidke - Words - 24th in final Now things got interesting, by far one of my favourite entries to date even though it had a poor result in the final (I'm just happy she made it in the first place). I discovered this song after it was entered in NSC and after giving it the full 12 points over there I decided I'd enter it over her. I think this song has a bit of a group following on bjsc and I'm really happy I helped people discover it. BJSC XII - Elizabeth & The Catapult - 24th in final I just noticed Dalisska is pretty good at replicating it's placings, it won't be long before we knock Mdice off it's consecutive placings perch. :kink: Anyway this song is another one of my favourites and I'm glad I helped others discover it. I discovered Elizabeth & The Catapult on lastfm. Shame it didn't do better but again I'm pleased it made the final. BJSC XIII - Charlotte Sometimes - How I could just kill a man - 16th in semi (DNQ) Another sad DNQ, If I'm honest I thought this song would do a fair bit better than it did.....maybe a 16th-18th in the final. It's a great song and another one of my favourite songs. I found this song thanks to lastfm. BJSC XIV - Marie-Mai - Emenne-Moi - 10th in final Dalisska's finest moment so far, getting our first top ten of the contest (just about anyway :P). It's strange to think that Dalisska's most successful song wasn't sung in english as usually non-english songs can have a tough time getting support. I discovered this song when it was entered at NSC too. Another one of my favourite entries and I'm glad it got such a good result :) BJSC XV - Sophia Somajo - I-rony - 17th in semi (DNQ) This one I was really shocked by when it failed to qualify. I don't want to sound like I was overconfident or anything but I really thought it deserved to make the final and that it would easily enough. A big shame that this failed to qualify. I discovered this song when it was entered at NSC[/b] BJSC XVI - Cockinbullkid - I'm not sorry - 17th in final I found this song over at nsc aswell. Not much to say about this one, I think it got an alright result although I thought it should have gotten a little higher at least. BJSC XVII - Lucy in the Sky - Walk like me - 14th in final I found this song on myspace and I'm really glad I used myspace that time around. This song had a kinda rock chick feel to it that Dalisska had never sent anything like this before so it was great to try something new and it payed off aswell. I wasn't sure how she would fair but it didn't expect her to do this well but It's great that she did. :) BJSC XVIII - BWO - Right here, right now - 24th in final 24th again, it really won't be long before Dalisska topples Mdice now :kink:. I had hoped this song would do better than it did and I thought it would have gotten at least 16th-18th but it wasn't to be. If I had entered the version with velvet it might have been different but the full version hadn't come out by then. BJSC XIX - As in rebekkamaria - She Lion - 23rd in semi (DNQ) Don't ask me what went wrong here because I have absolutely no clue. Amazing song and one of my favourite entries. All I can say is the voters missed out on what was a fantastic song  BJSC XX - Ameerah - The Sound of missing you - ??? I found Ameerah and this song over at NSC, I got my 12 aswell and I decided to enter it over here. It's a really great song and I hope it does well. Good luck Ameerah! :D BJSC XXI - ??? - ??? I'm really excited about my next entry, I hope it can do well. I don't think I'll reveal her until the final results of the current contest is nearing....or if I fail to qualify :P All I'll say now is that it sounds a bit like a mix between Lady Gaga and Velvet. :) Knock You Down got 8 from me, I loved it instantly but it was stunted by the Royksopp/Jody battle going on ahead, not only for my top 2 points, but for the top 2 in general...in hindsight, Knock You Down is better than both of these songs  :snif: it did take a lot of hovering around my chart before I finally decided this though! I'm hoping Again & Again can give you another top ten result although like last month, fempop is everywhere, even moreso this month probably :D I do think it's a stronger track than Sabotage though
September 3, 200915 yr update of mine with the last 4 contests added; I - Delta Goodrem - Believe Again - 17th - an absolute epic, a sensational 6 minute masterpiece of drama, beautiful strings, and by the best singer in the world...I couldn't have sent anybody else to the first contest, as it had been No.1 in my chart for 12 weeks!!! And it flopped hard, perhaps because I sent a live version, perhaps because people didn't 'get' the song...either way, I'm not ashamed of this one II - Natasha Bedingfield - Stumble - 18th - another of my favourite singers, this was a track from her first US album and generally unheard of here despite being a gorgeous ballad...I really wanted people to hear it and was a tad disappointed when it did even worse than Delta...but there we go...Natasha has the BJSC curse :heehee: III - Andreas Johnson - Glorious - 8th - the one and only time I've sent a song purely to get a good result, I was certain that this would give me a first top ten (despite being sung by a male), even though the song was indeed as cheap as chips, being a very well remembered top 5 hit from 2000, still used in many TV shows and trailers...oh well, I love Andreas and this song is a classic! IV - Sara Bareilles - Love Song - 1st - This had been hanging around my chart for about 4 months, but by this point it had just become a hit in the US...it had no planned UK release so I thought I'd send it so that people could finally hear the song I'd been raving about for ages. I honestly thought it would be a mid table finisher and was amazed that it won, narrowly beating the song I gave 12 points, Pull Shapes by The Pipettes  V - Sibel - Make Believe - 8th - Being absolutely obsessed with Melodifestivalen, I got Sibel's album (based on the glorious ballad That Is Where I'll Go) and was surprised to stumble across this mid-tempo song which was like the spiritual successor to Delta Goodrem's Lost Without You. I adored it at the time but it left my chart quickly and is probably my least favourite entry personally... VI - Untouched - Smack Me - 5th - I had one of the free subscriptions to Music Week this time last year and one issue came with a free CD of artists from the Liverpool arts academy performing their own material. The album was absolute rubbish apart from this gem which I just had to send to BJSC, an electropop stormer, perhaps a tad tacky, but excellent nonetheless...it later became my 'woohoo I've passed my driving test anthem' after I hammered it for hours just after I'd passed :heehee: I believe a certain other country likes this track more than I do though :P VII - Maria & Mira - Mine All Mine - 3rd - It's a shame this came up against I Kissed A Girl and Just Dance because this remains one of my favourite BJSC entries to date. I knew instantly the moment Maria walked off stage in ESC that I had to send her, so I reserved her without a track in mind, then listened to her album, and this track jumped right out at me. A glorious pop-soul duet with the fantastic much deeper voiced Mira Craig, with a bit of radio promotion, this could have been a huge UK hit last year...but it was not to be...amazed it finished top 5 in the best of too!!! BJSCVII remains my favourite contest to date, I was so pleased with how this song was received as I expected mid-table for this VIII - Thermostatic - Driving - 19th - with Mdice and MKL unable to host, I took the job and instantly qualified for the final, and after a last minute switch from the even more doomed Multicyde's Not For The Dough, I went with a subtle Swedish dance track, which was perhaps just a bit too subtle for BJSC, and indeed picked up very few votes, making it one of the worst host performances to date...I still love it though and am glad it was a bit different compared to the other VIII entries, one of the infamous cheap contests! IX - Sanna Nielsen - Nobody Without You - 4th - Another Melodifestivalen favourite, Sanna's album took a while longer to leak but when it did I snapped this one up instantly, it's so incredibly Eurovision, it was obvious that it was written alongside Empty Room with the intention of being an MF contender, exactly 3 minutes long with a thundering ESC-style dramatic climax at the end. I was rather amazed that this came as high as 4th but glad that so many people liked it, brilliant that it made the final of the Best Of too!!! X - Mira Craig - Headhunted - DNQ - The shame, FSR Rontvia's first DNQ, I honestly had this one down to win, which shows you not to be so overconfident or you'll fall flat on your face :heehee: I absolutely adore this song and have done since the first time I heard it, musically it's one of my favourite entries. A very odd chant like song from Mira who is looking to hire somebody, it had all of the ingredients to be a love-hate song, and it didn't disappoint, provoking one of the most memorable outbursts ever on BJSC, half of the people absolutely hating it and the other half adoring it...I was a bit gutted that it missed out on qualification, but pleased that it finished top 3 in the rejects!!! I do think this would have been a more deserving qualifier than loads of my qualifiers though!!! XI - Pixie - Boys & Girls - 3rd - A random MySpace search threw up this obviously upcoming singer...the song instantly sounded like the song Sugababes should have come back with and I knew I just had to send it, so instant, so catchy and so 2008! So of course, it's set to be a 2009 single in a couple of months time :heehee: Pixie was the subject of my biggest ever promo tour, complete with Louis Walsh and Natasha Bedingfield 'photo opportunities' but something told me that this girl might do alright! Glad I was right, very proud with this top 3 finish  XII - Vincent - Miss Blue - DNQ - After a string of females, I decided that it was time that FSR Rontvia went male, so I looked to Sweden and pop-ska-ish singer Vincent Pontare...Miss Blue is an absolute pop gem with a killer chorus and a bassline that reminds me of a slightly sped up version of I Kissed A Girl...Picking up lowish votes from most countries in its semi-final, it came heart breakingly close to the final but just missed out and became FSR Rontvia's 2nd DNQ...a shame, but it happens! XIII - The Sound Of Arrows - M.A.G.I.C. - 2nd - Dismayed at how badly Vincent had done, I was not giving up until I had sent a male act that had done well, so I looked to Sweden again and this glorious electro-pop track from a quirky male duo. An incredibly uplifting song, the song spent 5 weeks at the top of my personal chart, the best a song has ever done for me purely because it was a BJSC entry. It finished 2nd to Agnes' Release Me just a few short weeks after somebody had suggested that Swedish pop would never win the contest :heehee: I was happy with this result as I prefer Release Me to M.A.G.I.C. so it was only right that the best song of XIII, and indeed the best song I've heard in years, took the crown!!! 2nd was a stunning result though and satisfied my desire to do well with a male act, and completed my feat of finishing at every position in the top 5! XIV - Uh Huh Her - Not A Love Song - 1st - I was a bit stuck for XIV but eventually it came down to 2 songs...this rather fantastic electropop song that I'd had on my iPod since mid-2008 but never properly appreciated, or Let Go by Janet Leon, a Ryan Tedder style R&B ballad...Janet almost became my entry but I decided that a lesbian duo with a 'Love Song' ten contests after I'd won with the last one was too hard to resist...I however, didn't expect it to do well at all, particularly as XIV was the cheapest contest in the history of the BJSC...however, it somehow kept picking up points and I was absolutely shocked as I expected it to come low top 20 at best...perhaps one of the most shocking winners!?! I'm so glad that it did though  XV - Emiliana Torrini - Jungle Drum - 6th - Originally opting for another Pixie track, this was followed by numerous large debates and me stepping down as mod and host of XV...this made me realise that Pixie was far too safe and I decided to enter this track, that I'd heard about half an hour before confirming!!! A very short and snappy, instant song with a memorable hook and even enough room to squeeze in a key change before the end, it was perfect for Rontvia at that moment in time and I was very impressed that it came 6th...I reckon this one will be back and big before the year's out, it's currently huge across Europe!!! XVI - Blänk feat Young Ivy - I'm Going For Your Brother - 10th - It was time for another risk, so I went back to Sweden, although the depths of Northern Sweden this time for this charming dance/rap crossover track which I thought had the potential to bomb, mainly due to the rap, and the fact that subtle dance is not a genre that does terribly well in BJSC, as proven by Thermostatic. However, I felt that this had a stronger hook than Driving and thought that it was worth the risk. Love love love the song and was amazed that it made the top ten!!! This is why I love BJSC, for the fact that whilst looking out for entries I sometimes stumble across gems such as this  XVII - Beautiful Small Machines - Robots In Love - 1st - This charming song hit me on first listen. An absolutely fantastic electropop gem, much catchier than my last try at the genre, Not A Love Song, I felt that if that could somehow win, then this would have an outside chance. It was interesting in the odds watching it go from being an underdog to the overwhelming favourite, particularly in the Kopecka odds where it galloped 11-6-2-1 or something in the space of a week  I was gutted for MKL, who very much deserved a win with the excellent Livvi Franc song, but not that gutted as I still feel that this possibly rivals Mine All Mine and M.A.G.I.C. as my best entry, all things considered. Rontvia's highest score to date too and one of my favourite songs of the year. American Love Songs are the way forward :funky: XVIII - Example - Watch The Sun Come Up (Neon Cloud Edit) - 25th- So from the best result in the final to the worst. As I was hosting for the third time I saw absolutely no point sending something safe as I love the fact that you can force all 50 contestants to listen to something slightly random as you are definitely in the final! I saw Example live supporting Calvin Harris in May and thought he was alright, not to my taste though...until he sang this. An absolutely EPIC euphoric summer dance anthem, completely different to anything I'd sent before, I knew it would flop but I did it for a number of reasons. It was nice to send something different, I loved the song and I was hoping to introduce it to at least a few people who loved it, which I did as it racked up a surprising 62 points, about 40 more than I thought it would get. It's set to be a big UK hit now, and rightfully so. Oh, the 'Neon Cloud Edit' was my own creation by the way, he only leaked a 2:25 snippet of it on his MySpace so I tweaked it and copied and pasted bits in the song to make it longer, I was quite proud of it to be honest, I don't think anyone noticed that it was an amateur production :heehee: XIX - Hafdis Huld - Kongulo - 14th - Becoming well known for my mainstream yet quirky entries, I was introduced to this song by a friend and fell in love with it instantly. An ode to human Spiderman Alain Robert, sung by an Icelandic female even more bizarre than former entrant Emiliana Torrini, Kongulo smashed in at #1 in my personal chart, only one of three or four songs ever to achieve that accolade, and I was certain that I had to introduce it to everyone else. 14th place out of 50 songs was quite impressive I thought for such an acquired taste, I couldn't have asked for much more really...and I know a few people Nick grew to adore it as much as me so mission accomplished! XX - Anna Abreu - Music Everywhere -? - Not one to usually recycle other people's artists, in fact this is the first occasion of me doing so. I haven't sent a pure pop song since maybe Boys & Girls and Miss Blue almost a year ago now so after 9 months of sending obscure indie, dance and folky tracks I felt like it was time to send something just because I love it. I am sure it's one of the tracks being mentioned when people moan about 'everything sounds the same this month' but I do think it has an absolutely killer chorus, moreso than most of my entries that perhaps take longer to grow...to the extent that people start loving them long after the contest has finished :/
September 3, 200915 yr Words is one of Dalisska's best entries if not their best imo. Amazing song, i am for sure in it's fan club. I loved She Lion too
September 3, 200915 yr I am also in the 'Words' and now more general Kate Miller-Heidke fan club thanks to Dalisska  wasn't blown away by She Lion though
