What do the BJSC mods actually do anyway? Can someone give a list of all the jobs a bjsc mod is expected to do?

Well, you have the standard Mod jobs like closing threads, pinning threads, deleting double posts and so on.

There is the another aspect too. We have a few things in planning for improving the contest and keep it moving forward. We expect Tom's replacement to help us with that. Tom's replacement ideally would keep the stats thread up to date.

And you'd also have a big say in the behind the scenes running of the contest. While we are putting major rule changes up for a full debate, we hope that you'll be able to help us make quick decisions on important matters which arise suddenly. Like the recent appearance of a Liam Alias.

So being on the look out for alias accounts is quite important, but not limited to mods. If anyone is suspicious of a country that they think could be an alias please please please drop Me or Tyron a PM. You will not be named as the whistle blower.

NinaNoo was outed as an Alias thanks to a PM.

It unfortunately comes with the job, so do expect to be on the receiving end of a little abuse when rule changes don't go peoples way etc.

It'd be epic if the person applying is of the 'fire killer' variety rather than the 'pour a petrol tanker on it' variety like myself when it comes to arguments. It's not a requirement but a balanced mod team is ideal, so if you think you are capable of doing the above and either stayin neutral to the occasional argument or just calming it down when someone like me decides the fire isn't big enough lets throw petrol on it that would be amazing.

But don't worry, a lot of things you'll find that you'll get better at as you go along and somethings you will learn on the job. And i can't 100% speak for Tyron but i'm pretty sure that you can count on both of us to help you out if you have a problem or want advice.

Oh and you get to warn people too :magic:

agreed, which is why Tom was perfect, and why I'd be rubbish as a mod alongside you two, our opinions are too similar...somebody like thisispop or Aaron is the best anti-Phil/Tyron that I can think of at the moment, not in a nasty way of course, but in the way that they usually have vastly different opinions to mine, yours and Tyron's which are often very alike

No i get what you mean.

It'd be nice to have someone who doesn't always agree with me and Tyron. I will admit i don't think there are many occasions where the pair of us have disagreed.

But of course, we'd love to have you back. Even if you do agree with us, recently you have become far more of a Fire-Killer tbh.

And while a balanced Mod approach would be wonderful, it's far more practical to have a cohesive team that works together effectively to achieve common goals. If we had someone with the opposite opinion to mine and Tyron's it might take us longer to do everything and we might not be able to react as quickly as we have been doing to situations that arise. While the opposite opinion would be wonderful for making some decisions, those are likely to be the same decisions that we put to a vote before implementing. Such as MFgate.

The current mod team has had quite a good level of cohesiveness i think, we've worked really well together and i am really gutted to see Tom go. The introduction of the 3 month rule is a good example.

It was brought in out of necessity to stop alias accounts with no objections from any of the three of us or the management who pop in and out of our thread :heehee:

I think Tom overall had similar views to me and Tyron but he was far more of a fire-killer.

We do welcome requests for rule changes and new rules either via PM or in the rules thread at any time by any participant. We will review suggestions fully and the ones that we feel have serious merit and could improve BJSC for the better will either be put to a full discussion or implemented if it's something we feel is required urgently [Waiting list for example]

Wellll...

As long as it ain't James (Like I said before) they get my vote :kink: (Not that we're voting anyway :heehee:)

Sabrewulf(??) would be a decent mod I think. Afterall he designed the islands and stuff.

You're just a mean bully. BULLIES SHOULD BE SENT TO SKULL ISLAND TO LIVE WITH KONG.

Ooohhhh so somebody with differing opinions to one or more of the mods is what you're looking for eh? :P

This is almost tooooo tempting!!!!

Differing opinions not to the extent where things don't get done because of that :P We want a fire-breaker more than a fire-starter...akin to Tom.

What's fire-breaking?

What you fart you light a match to it. :magic:

Thats kinda of a null and void statement tbh.

There is very little Tyron and i have disagreed on since the beginning of the contest.

So it's more like differing opinions to the current mods.

:kink: :heehee:

To continue the fire analogies i am like olympic champion at 'pouring a petrol tanker on it'

I sent my application last night and I think I fit the bill quite well if I do say so myself. Y'know, having once helped update the Songs Of topic and started a few new stats out for the thread. :kink: which, admittedly, I'd forgotten about recently but will update soon

I just didn't want to be too obvious by saying "one of the mods" :P

Haha don't worry, I'm not applying and never will either.

I don't know if it's the done thing, but maybe since alot of people seem to have an opinion about who would be good for the job, the applicants could be put up for a vote / election type thing?

I know who I personally would be behind for the job.

^Good idea. But I think some people will be biased for it. :P

I decided that I won't be applying.

I'd like to think i'm better than Aaron :kink: Given my numerous large contributions to the forum and my proof of being a statsitican elsewhere. GO SUCK A ROCK AARON.
