^ Yeah, you're thinking of "Stranger On The Shore" by Mr Acker Bilk which had 45 weeks - but that chart run was in 1961 and is open to doubt like you say because there were conflicting charts at the time - no 'official' chart until the late 60s.

Here's the chart run: 32-16-14-6-6-8-{2}-2-2-5-8-7-12-11-13-8-8-7-6-7-13-12-10-15-13-12-11-12-11-11-9-9-17-19-18-20-19-18-22-23-27-30-32-31-38-XX

That's the one.

I think it's safe to ignore that one and go for the longest *verified* top 40 run, which I'm going to trust you on being FGTH's Relax. (I can't be bothered to go through every chart ever to find a longer run )

Anyway, Poker Face has only 8 weeks left before it breaks the record, but it's steadily falling (and fell 7 places last week) so it'll need one final push to surpass 37. I reckon it'll just miss out, getting 34-36. Or 35, like KoL's Sex On Fire.

KoL chart run:

{1}-1-1-2-2-4-4-5-11-13-13-17-14-15-21-12-11-12-14-19-18-23-19-14-16-22-23-29-31-27-30-29-37-40-39-xx

I`ll switch that to the BBC (Pick Of The Pops listing):

And of course it was #1 for the first week of 1962.

22-12-6-3-2-(1)-2-2-3-6-8-10-11-12-10-8-10-11-11-12-17-13-14-15-15-14-13-14-11-12-12-12-16-19-17-20-21-28-26-26-27-XX That was it for the BBC run...only a top 30 possible. It was the theme to a tv kids programme.

That's the 41-week run I was referring to.

Either way, we can't really trust that long top 40 run, as there's no precise figure for the number of weeks. Therefore, until further notice, Frankie Goes To Hollywood has the record. :arrr:

RyRy could you tell me if Doll Domination 3.0 is in the Top 200 please?

Whi their record company thought it was a good idea for a second re-release only a few months before the previous one is beyond me.
