Now That's What I Call Music! [Part 7]
98 definitely did a better job covering the hits. There were still some big ones missing but it didn’t feel as glaring as this.

Now That's What I Call Music! [Part 7]
Looking good but gutted I Will Come To You didn’t make it. No Angel Of Mine or Stand By Me either.

That was a surprisingly decent exit for Bernie and Felix considering how sidelined they’d both become. Felix had a lot of untapped potential, being a drag queen offered something new to the show. But they gave him a dead dad in week one and then ignored him until the last month or so. He had a lot more to give but they never used him and if they never would, it made sense for him to leave. Bernie was a similar case. It’s amazing to think she lasted 8 years-twice as long as Lynne Slater or Laura Beale. Longer than Zainab, Heather, both of Mel’s stints put together. Longer than David Wicks, Steve Owen and even Dirty Den’s two stints. When you consider that, it’s amazing how little she managed to do in that time. It feels like the first plan for her was immediately dropped-I’m amazed they remembered her miscarriage tonight. Then the next plan also quickly got dropped though it heavily involved chess so maybe that was a good thing. With her coming out it felt like it might have gone somewhat by then she was dropped for years. Just one shot of her crying when her sister died and a comedy surrogacy storyline that saw her offscreen for almost all of it. She only picked up any momentum once they killed her brother off and she was written into a corner and unrealistically let his murderer’s get away with it. She was great but they didn’t know what to do with her. At least they got focus in their final week, I guess.

Now That's What I Call Music! [Part 7]
People won’t spend money on vinyl for the tracks Now are accessing for their numbered editions. The Yearbooks sell well because they contain songs that appeal to people who buy vinyl.

Now That's What I Call Music! [Part 7]
The numbered Nows can’t be saved from disastrous sales. This is just where things are now.

I genuinely have no clue what the show can do with Elaine outside of the Vic. It will be so unnatural to see her propping up a market stall or working at Kathy‘s. The Albert would have been her natural place but given her nemesis now owns it, it seems unlikely.

EastEnders
About time too. She’s been a complete flop of an abandoned spouse so far. It doesn’t appear that she’s contacted the police about her missing husband or even thought ‘maybe he’s gone back to where we first met and where he lived a life with his first wife, daughter and childhood friends’.

The Official Labour Calmer Steering Thread (mk III)
It might be a good idea to look into why the number of people claiming dla has increased. Given the stories I’ve heard about how many hoops people have to jump through to receive it, I imagine it’s because we have an increased number of people living with a disability rather than that it’s just too easy to get your hands on.

Zoe is totes Joel’s real mum and abandoned him. It actually all fits really well right down to Zoe suddenly not wanting anything to do with Kat offscreen all those years ago. It also makes sense why Vicki came back with a new man instead of Spencer and why Joel is her stepson rather than writing in a child for her during her absent years. Unfortunately it does feel like a coincidence too far given Kathy married Sharon’s biological father and the Knights moved in across the road from where Cindy used to live. One thing I’m sure won’t happen though-no one will ever mention to Zoe that she has a twin brother. That was one of the worst twists ever.

EastEnders
Surely Lynne would have been better placed for sorting Zoe out as they grew up as sisters and got on very well whereas Stacey and Zoe always hated each other. Obvious reasons why it wasn’t written that way but still.

EastEnders
Almost twenty years to the day we last saw her! I am wondering whether the ridiculous rumour about Zoe being Joel’s mum could be true, seemed to be a bit of foreshadowing tonight.

90s Top 10 Sales- Week by Week- 1998
It would have been quite ridiculous if Never Ever hadn’t gone to no.1 at some point when four lesser hits got there for them much more comfortably afterwards, and yet it almost didn’t happen. Not sure Bamboogie would have been a well remembered no.1 but I do recall it being no.1 on the Chart Show on the Saturday.
