  5. #05. Central Cee ~ GBP (feat. 21 Savage) [97 points] Most hated: PedroNL25, WhoOdyssey, Viper* [12 points] Buzzjack continues to take a disliking to Cench as he has two songs in the top five. Firstly a track with a fellow British-born rapper in 21 Savage thought again going after some sweet USD and rapping about the usual. His Dave collab was spared from a Hatechart spot at least. #04. Morgan Wallen ~ I'm the Problem [98 points] Most hated: Sami Hook Jama, Sergej, Jack [12 points] One of America's biggest stars in not just country music but music altogether now Morgan Wallen has increasingly seen some level of UK success getting a #1 album that shares its title with this song that narrowly missed a top 40 peak. Unfortunately it's one of his more annoying efforts to date with the title being more sarcastic than any real admission of his general unpleasantness. #03. Drake ~ Which One (feat. Central Cee) [101 points] Most hated: Riser [12 points] Drake & Cench together now which was never going to be much of a critical success, and not even much of a commercial one in the States either however the collective name power got it into the UK top 5. It's them both on autopilot anyway and certainly not what Drake needs to win back the fans he lost in the Kendrick beef. #02. Sexyy Red and Bruno Mars ~ Fat, Juicy & Wet [101 points] Most hated: Paramore [12 points] In what must've been an attempt to recreate the magic virality of "WAP", one of the current crop of fad rappers in Sexyy Red made a similarly explicit song but not in the fun way more in the irritating too much way. It's even not helped by a Bruno Mars rapped hook which is just as cringe as the Sexyy verses - very much a downgrade for him after assisting Lady Gaga and Rosé, not just critically but very much commercially too as this could only scrape the top 40 for a week. #01. Alex Warren ~ Ordinary [107 points] Most hated: ElectroBoy, Henessy Lake [12 points] Well you probably saw this coming so with no big buildup your least favoured hit of the year was also the biggest hit of the year in 'Ordinary'. The song took a few weeks to edge to the top of the chart but then refused to budge for the longest time afterwards, despite being quite a dull and critically panned song it was all over social media reels and clearly the 'summer anthem' the public was in the mood for to match the big meh of a year 2025 has been. I wish we'd have left this kind of beige back in the 2010s but lowest common denominator singer songwriter pop is always gonna sell clearly. We can only hope this guy turns out a one-album wonder but for now, Alex Warren has the dishonour of winning the 2025 Hatechart.
  6. #10. Jack Black ~ Steve's Lava Chicken [79 points] Most hated: JosephCarey, dancember [12 points] Starting off proceedings is the incredibly irritating soundtrack hit from the Minecraft movie. Jack Black had already cursed our ears with 'Peaches' from the Mario movie but this managed to be even worse even with it being mercifully short. #09. Playboi Carti ~ Evil Jordan [79 points] Most hated: Sami Hook Jama, JosephCarey [8 points] Next up Playboi Carti with a song whose title is at least self-aware but the song itself has little to show for. It landed in the top 10 from being the lead track to his hyped album but exited the top 40 only 2 weeks later. #08. Central Cee ~ Truth in the Lies (feat. Lil Durk) [86 points] Most hated: Mack [12 points] Released alongside his debut studio album this was another attempt at crossing over to the American market by guesting Lil Durk who's had considerably more success overseas. Besides Buzzjack's usual hate-on for Cench this also heavily sampled a much better song's instrumental in Ne-Yo's "So Sick". #07. Drake ~ Gimme A Hug [88 points] Most hated: gasman449, Sergej [8 points] It wouldn't be the Buzzjack hate chart without Drake in the top 10 then would it? This one was put out as part of his Partynextdoor collaborative album but unsurprisingly it was the two Drake solo cuts from it that ended up doing the most in the chart. The song addressed his Kendrick beef and didn't have a pop hook which I guess is why it's outdone 'Nokia' here. #06. Kendrick Lamar ~ Squabble Up [94 points] Most hated: …ready for it [12 points] Now for the song that least deserves a hate chart top 10 placement in my opinion we have Kendrick back here again after 'Not Like Us' placed 7th last year. Toward the very end of 2024 he put out a surprise album of which this was the initial single from it and I guess was the most annoying to Buzzjack for its NLU similarities.

  8. #30 Magdalena Bay - Cry for Me [EOY #99, 2024] {77-65-17-14-12-8-5-5-11-12-13-25-25}-8-6-8-11-13-18-30-35-33-40-46-49-63-81-89-80-97-x [19 weeks {30 total}] An expertly-crafted indie-pop song here which the rest of their material can't quite compare to #29 ilan Bluestone, Maor Levi and Giuseppe De Luca - Ignite 17-4-4-4-4-6-9-11-12-6-4-6-11-16-26-49-68-x-88-x-89-x-96-x [20 weeks] Whilst ilan had one of my fave albums of the year, there was no other contender for the top song taken from it than the title track - a big classic progressive trance anthem. #28 Ben Hemsley - Tidal [feat. Rose Gray] [EOY #52, 2024] {1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4-5-5-10}-22-22-7-10-10-12-14-20-32-39-53-54-67-74-64-92-x [16 weeks {27 total}] Belatedly getting the year-end top 40 placement it deserves for this 90s trance inspired tune. Hopefully some more to come from Ben in 2026 on the debut album we're supposedly getting. #27 Chloé Caillet and Luke Alessi - The One (feat. Jocelyn Brown) 77-23-18-14-12-16-17-22-22-26-35-36-35-37-44-62-69-81-82-98-92-99-x [22 weeks] Gotta love a bit of nu-disco here and an inspired take on sampling 'Somebody Else's Guy' here. #26 Marie Davidson - Demolition 14-3-5-8-10-12-15-17-17-11-12-16-19-20-26-25-31-48-54-67-x [20 weeks] Very tense electronica banger which I ended up enjoying even moreso than the song of hers I sent to BJSC last year.
  9. #35 Ashley Wallbridge, Christina Novelli and Pulse Gate - Impossible 17-10-11-13-13-17-19-29-26-28-21-30-33-50-50-55-61-39-49-38-56-53-... [22+ weeks] Ashley Wallbridge put out a fair amount of songs this year but naturally the best was the one guesting one of my fave trance vocalists in Christina Novelli. #34 Armin van Buuren and Ben Hemsley - Is It Beautiful? (ASOT 2025 Transformation Anthem) (feat. Lucy Pullin) 1-3-7-10-12-16-35-50-61-72-63-74-71-92-x-63-31-41-76-86-x [19 weeks] Every so often we do get a proper trance anthem (and this one officially labeled as one too) off Armin van Buuren and this was extra exciting for being in collaboration with last year's EOY #1 performer Ben Hemsley #33 Spellling - Portrait of My Heart 49-32-12-10-24-21-12-17-22-37-47-52-70-58-61-66-74-73-83-94-x-85-x [21 weeks] Breaking up the run of EDM once again is Spellling whose ironically keeps triggering my autocorrect. This has a lot going for it in the arrangement which made me quickly take notice through skimming YouTube recommendations. It was then a BJSC potential for me but ultimately someone else sent it first. #32 Trinix - Oro (feat. Sofiane Pamart) 2-1-1-2-2-2-3-3-3-4-5-9-18-30-38-45-69-70-90-89-x [20 weeks] Never heard of Trinix before but seemingly they're quite big in France. It was of course pianist Sofiane Pamart who led me to this one who puts in another expert performance here to compliment the mid tempo dance groove. #31 Max Dean, Luke Dean and Locky - Can't Decide 9-6-4-4-4-6-12-15-19-40-42-41-43-64-73-95-98-x [17 weeks] A surprise UK dance hit here but a very welcome one as a minimal deep house tune with the uncredited vocal sample also doing a lot of the work here.

Annabel) [EOY #19, 2020] {3-4-5-5-6-6-7-11-16-16-22-33-21-20-18-19-15-8-17-25-32-42-x}-8-5-7-7-10-12-15-20-24-48-38-33-37-58-91-98-96-75-x [18 weeks {40 total}] Having already been a hit here five years earlier, Gaz gave it a VIP mix for his new series of live shows that also made its way onto streaming which gives it a welcome edgier drop section. #39 Anamē - What About Me (feat. Lydmor) 14-7-7-6-7-13-16-19-22-24-37-44-61-53-47-47-69-78-87-x [19 weeks] What a lovely pair Anamē and Lydmor are. Though this one's the least upbeat of their work together the production suits the emotion the song's going for. #38 WizTheMC and Bees & Honey - Show Me Love 68-15-13-16-13-10-9-9-11-20-28-35-52-63-89-98-x [16 weeks] About time we had another big UK hit now - this was a welcome fresh air as a summery slow dance tune. Not that I expect we'll ever hear from him again after he did the classic thing of pointlessly making the follow-up basically a lesser version of the same song. #37 LSR/City [Gareth Emery and Annabel] - Don't Leave [EOY #183, 2024] {15-5-6-12-16-37-69-59}-83-83-53-61-56-72-66-x-31-35-49-60-92-99-51-55-65-90-98-84-91-72-100-x [22 weeks {30 total}] Gareth Emery again with the song that was written to close out his live show (although he gave us in London a cheeky encore afterwards), which was also assisted by a secondary mix giving it an extended run. Another big pop-trance anthem here. #36 Anamē - Colder (feat. Moyka) 7-7-5-8-9-9-9-11-11-29-44-48-62-76-95-87-93-x [17 weeks] And let's repeat Anamē again too then. This time they've remixed Norwegian singer Moyka's 'Colder' which I had already known of as a former BJSC entry. Naturally I took more to this version being dancier..
  11. #45 Craig Connelly and Aimée - Feel It 7-6-2-2-2-2-1-3-14-29-37-47-76-87-92-90-79-x [17 weeks] A more radio-friendly track from the trance producer, although sadly he's not big enough a name to get radio hits it's a brilliant anthemic pop-trance effort. #44 Schrotthagen - Pain in my Heart [EOY #72, 2024] {43-36-30-14-5-6-12-21-27-42-39-20-15-17-15}-27-27-9-7-2-2-2-4-25-34-38-57-70-87-x [14 weeks {29 total}] The track that introduced me to German techno duo Schrotthagen and remains their top effort, it had a resurgence in the new year after its BJSC appearance however its sharp falloff after the fact means it sadly misses out a top 40 year-end spot. #43 Mau P - Like I Like It 95-87-61-40-34-24-24-24-26-24-18-20-25-27-29-49-75-85-87-x [19 weeks] Another performer who I thought would never out-do his breakthrough effort, however this ended up a bigger hit for me than 'Drugs from Amsterdam'. Another tech house banger that does all it needs to. #42 Qrion - Ice Palace [EOY #18, 2024] {31-3-3-2-2-4-4-5-6-7-10-19-24-24-18-18-23-22-21-21-37-50}-61-61-23-24-25-28-21-31-43-48-45-49-51-62-72-93-91-x [17 weeks {39 total}] A lush chill house instrumental piece. Sadly I haven't taken much to any of her follow-ups so far so it remains one of a couple lovely outliers in the catalog. #41 Joris Voorn, Yotto and White Lies - Seventeen 33-22-21-27-27-39-39-41-37-41-38-50-51-55-69-92-97-85-83-86-100-88-x [22 weeks] A big progressive house tune, or ought to be at least. Stands out a lot in the case of all three performers who I don't often chart.
  12. #50 Bryan Kearney and Plumb - God Help Me 24-14-12-12-10-13-14-19-23-41-52-60-65-87-91-x [15 weeks] Voted the best trance track of the year by Armin van Burn's radio show listeners, once again showing how great Plumb's voice is for uplifting trance. #49 Ghost - Lachryma 54-26-18-21-23-19-23-19-21-30-35-37-48-78-x [14 weeks] No longer a one-hit wonder band in my chart after 'Mary on a Cross', they managed to out-do themselves with this one being a great old school rock song. #48 Ferry Corsten pts. Gouryella - Marama (Moon & Stars) (feat. Saskia Lie Atjam) 95-10-8-9-9-9-19-21-22-27-33-42-53-59-64-77-89-x [17 weeks] Another highly-rated trance song in Armin's yearly poll which saw Ferry Corsten bring back his Gouryella alias sounding like some classic 90s Ferry. #47 L.P. Rhythm - Versatile 58-46-15-14-9-11-13-13-18-27-43-49-56-85-74-x-93-85-x [17 weeks] Sampling a fairly obscure early 90s house track this became the breakthrough hit for this British DJ making for a very infectious tune. #46 MicBeatZ - Mary Jane Girls All Night Long 8-5-3-4-6-7-12-16-21-31-36-49-55-59-77-97-x [16 weeks] Originally a hit from the 80s I was unfamiliar with, this was given a little extra polish to make it more danceable for 2025.
