I’m actually watching an old Midsomer Murders from about 20 years ago and Harriet Thorpe is in it playing a woman called Elaine 😂

The theme for Comic Relief that year was ‘Pants to Poverty’ and people were encouraged to wear their undies over their trousers for charity.

This is quite difficult given they’re all average at best. Why were great songs from the Fray and Bowling For Soup ditched early?

I remember back in 2009 thinking Just Dance was a bit mid and much preferring PokerFace. Now I’d much rather listen to Just Dance. I remember being so intrigued by the female singer on Stan. Dido is one of my all time favourites artists and the love began here.

I imagine the Gemma probably finds the work for Hollyoaks more interesting because that Clare is a psychopath. It’s been wonderful to have Clare Bates back but she is only needed in the context of the Nigel story. Julie is a different story though. She has been around long enough to forge connections with new characters. There’ll be a place for her when Nigel is gone. I wonder if they could even tempt Jon Lee back for a stint?

Wow. That was so good. It’s like the Christmas episode-how can they put out something this well done just a couple of episodes after Callum/Johnny crap? They really have done the whole Nigel story so well-Clare was the last missing piece and her scenes with Nigel didn’t disappoint at all. The only thing missing from Nigel’s return these last 18 months has been Dot-and of course there’s good reason for that. I wonder if Grant’s return is quite soon. I hope he gets one last scene with Nigel. You know, rather than with that son he doesn’t even know.

Great that Clare Bates is back rather than Clare Devine and they also haven’t just glossed over how she was back in 2008. Priya saying no one would notice if Mark was gone was a pretty accurate assessment of his time on the show so far. Also getting the feeling Priya might be the pregnant woman in bed on New Year.

Yeah Take That and Katy Perry are the only ones left that I’m not really fussed about. I’d love Pink or Duffy to be top but I don’t think they will.

I remember thinking the 14-2 jump for Bahamen was very WTF at the time. I was only 12 and never really seen much like it at the time. It’s only reading this I realise how low the sales were that week, I’ve been wondering why it happened for over 25 years! Aside from it being on TOTP, it hadn’t had a significant new push from anywhere. I guess grabbing that top 2 status only helped its sales increase. Fight For This Love is a great song but Cheryl is such a weak vocalist.

The writing for Callum/Johnny tonight cannot be at all defended. Why are neither of them taking any responsibility for this mess? Lexi is too old to be getting away with this bossing everyone around shtick.

I actually think Linda’s reaction is pretty consistent with the writing for her family over the years. For a start, she was married to Mick. His character often got free passes because he supported Johnny coming out and then had his own sexual abuse storyline but he was a misogynist full of toxic masculinity. He was always telling his sons to man up, provide, take care of the females in the family. It could be very possible that Linda believes that Johnny being an adult human male means he should have been stronger or that he had the chance to say no but didn’t. I’m probably just going in on Mick because I hate the character. But also her own mother didn’t take her sexual assault as seriously as she should have done. She asked Linda to lie about it. Perhaps Linda isn’t as different to her mother as she believes. And maybe Johnny had a point. Linda struggles to see outside of her own situation. Again, Mick didn’t help in this regard. But during the Six, Linda very rarely thought of how the others might be feeling. Johnny has also spent the last 2 years looking after his mother with reciprocation. She sees this as his mistake and believes he had a choice. She hasn’t taken his relationship with Callum seriously. I’m sure she’ll come round to the right way of thinking about it, and it was sloppy writing. Maybe I’m just trying to see reason where there isn’t any 😂

Do we really need to be so graphic?

What is the storyline for Bea? She honestly ruined any chance of tension in the pharmacy. All the other actors in that scene were playing it really seriously and she was being weird. Was that direction on purpose? It ruined the scene.

Filming the seizure whilst not ideal wouldn’t have been a bad idea as it would help someone time it. If they last longer than 5 minutes then an ambulance must be called. However, it wasn’t explained that this is what Will was doing so I’m guessing it’s just going to be a humiliating video of Nugget going round courtesy of Will. Will, who had his own issues with pictures going around just a couple of years ago. He barely has a character as he never appear and yet they still manage to keep him consistent.

I mean, that’s the worry. I’d love the believe that they wouldn’t be stupid enough to kill Penny off but, you know, the track record ain’t great.
