Posted August 2, 20178 yr CURRENT ENTRY (135) ~ KAMILLE - MIRROR MIRROR bL7FG1hzHHc >>> JUPITERDONIA <<< We may be the newest nation as of the last few contests, but we figured it was probably about time to create a national thread to support our entries and hopefully pick up a few fans - or opinions, at least! Jupiterdonia's a nation of many contrasts, flowery fields in the countryside with great landscapes, but a more industrial feel in our cities, particularly our capital, Lipstick! Many will see this contrast extending to the kind of entries we end up choosing to send to BJSC contests. We welcome comments on any of our entries thus far and hope they will be liked! But we are happy to share them on, regardless, too. August 2, 20178 yr Author http://i66.tinypic.com/1o5b1k.jpg For BJSC 97, Jupiterdonia will be sending Smallpools with their 2017 should-be summer smash, Million Bucks. Smallpools are perhaps best-known nowadays for the 2013 indie anthem Dreaming. Now, they're back in business with another big album campaign, and we in Jupiterdonia were very impressed with what they've had to offer! Here's the track, another feelgood/don't care indie bop and a half: Hcr-RLD9g9s Edited September 24, 20177 yr by StillJupiter
August 15, 20177 yr Author 5BTGxiwkOWQ 11th in the semi, 27th in the final, and picking up a bunch of 18s and 15s in the final, you can't do better than that for a first run! Jupiterdonia is happy to have shared Smallpools' Million Bucks to a new and appreciative audience, and picked up some fans along the way! Watch this space as we will be floating a few suggestions of our potentials for the next contest and possibly asking readers to have a vote for which they'd like to see us send to BJSC98! August 16, 20177 yr A belated congrats on your first qualifier! A catchy number that just missed out on my points in the end but hopefully here's to the start of a successful run for this young nation.
August 16, 20177 yr Yasss, well done on your first qualifier (belatedly as I didn't comment on that last week) & getting top 30. This was yet another song that grew on me going from 4 in the semi to 15th in my final votes. You can't knock a good indie/alternative track when you hear one! Plus I knew you wouldn't be bottom 10 somehow which is why I didn't put you there :D
August 16, 20177 yr Glad to see you not having to wait too long for a first qualifier! Both your entries so far have been pretty decent, hoping I can get more behind a Jupiterdonia entry soon ;o x
August 16, 20177 yr Whyyy is it Jupiterdonia?? :( :( It takes away #IMPAKT from impaktnationBeaverdonia
August 17, 20177 yr Author Thanks folks for all the kind comments :) Now as promised, although it's jumping the gun a bit, we've been thinking about it, and so we're going to share some potentials for BJSC98 here. We have our entry generally narrowed down to three or four, but we are not entirely sure at this moment which of those we'll ultimately go for. So, you, our fans's thoughts would be very much appreciated, if you wanted to share them! Here's three to kick you off: Firstly, a recent track that drops our usual indie M.O to go more pop. It's playing against type, but this has gone down well in the plugs we've dropped it so far - although, generally with quite small audiences. Thoughts on Emily Zeck? hanltvpJOg8 Secondly, a late summer-into-autumn jam from former feature artist, now doing her own thing, Rachel K Collier. Some of you may remember her from flash in the pan hit Boom Boom (Heartbeat) from a few years back. M7_-0uf4o0Y Thirdly, another that's had a few plug previews and has gone down very well every time, as well as being featuring in my top 100 of 2016 countdown last year right up there at the very top. A little older again, and with perhaps a slightly risque video, George Maple (who is surprisingly enough, a woman) with GoldLink on a Banks-esque track that's much better than the title would suggest. OI546yWtNTA Thoughts on any of these - or even a ranking of which you like the most, and/or which you think would go down well, are most welcomed! As is general discussion in the thread :D
August 24, 20177 yr Author So, quick update, unless we get vetoed we've actually gone for none of the above songs! We think the one we've plumped for should be decently popular though, and we have ultimately gone a bit away from indie tunes we've sent so far... Perhaps we will give it a spin in a plug session if we happen to appear in one before Sunday, as an early preview! As for the above, we still will consider sending some of those songs to future contests - so no stealing please!
August 28, 20177 yr Author http://i63.tinypic.com/5z189x.jpg Yes, for BJSC98 we haven't been vetoed and will be sending Romanian dance goddess Inna with her bilingual party starter Yalla. Inna wasn't our nation's initial choice for this contest, but a couple of times we played Yalla in plug to a resounding response and suggestions from fans that we entered it for our nation. Blessedly, the gods looked favourably upon our entry. Inna will be a familiar name to most for her brief run of UK and broader European chart success nearly ten years ago now with the singles Hot and Sun Is Up. What you might not know is that she's kept releasing consistently since that peak and can generally be relied upon to release some great summer tunes every year. Yalla's not her latest effort, but it's one that glorious leader Jupiter did not personally come across until earlier this year and as such has been a firm favourite of 2017 in Jupiterdonia. Sharing it now for your pleasure and hoping it picks up some fans! i7wveOu5hkQ
September 1, 20177 yr Author We in Jupiterdonia have had it requested of us a few times and have finally after a long competition in our glorious country gained a flag. Do not judge its artistic merits too harshly as it was designed by a precious Jupiterdonian child with, if we are honest, not so much artistic skill. They are still a valued citizen. The flag thread can now have one less gap in it! http://i67.tinypic.com/16le9og.jpg ^^^ national pride ^^^ Edited September 1, 20177 yr by StillJupiter
September 1, 20177 yr Hoorayy. Thank you! *adds to thread* x 'Yalla' is my fave of your entries so far btw, love a good ethnic-y dance track *.*
September 5, 20177 yr Author Another qualification for Jupiterdonia, bringing our Q streak up to 2! Now, bring on the final! Hoping Inna can pick us up a few more fans this time around, and surpass her previous peak positions when she's represented other nations :D Edited September 5, 20177 yr by StillJupiter
September 12, 20177 yr Author B1X05OTCMgw Well, after a rocky qualification stage where we surprisingly only scraped into the final, we ended up with our first top ten (from our second qualifier of three, which feels pretty impressive!) as Yalla ended BJSC98 in 6th! Thanks Inna :3 We managed quite wide appeal as we only picked up two top scores this time round, but enough lower scores from many voters to secure our position in the top ten. Next target, the top 5! Onwards and upwards :D To those who liked Inna and voted, thank you! We hope the new (and older!) Jupiterdonia fans will stay with and keep supporting us in upcoming and future contests, now they've seen what we can bring to the table :3 Perhaps next time round we will send a brand new artist for people to discover... September 24, 20177 yr Author http://i68.tinypic.com/2qxlqfb.jpg ...and yes, we are sending for BJSC99 another switch-up, our first less-established artist Syn Cole, with the track Sway featuring vocals from the lovely Nevve. Cole's an Estonian producer who's previously done remixes for the likes of Kiesza and Jess Glynne, while Nevve has recently appeared on tracks alongside Illenium, Quix and Blu J. Where BJSC98 saw us dabble with dance, we've gone full-on into the genre this contest with our entry that wouldn't be out of place on - and indeed, is featured within - any of the big EDM subgenre youtube and spotify channels and playlists. As ever, we're hoping this picks up some fans and appeal, and look forward to hopefully getting a chance to plug it before semi votes are due! Without further ado, enjoy! October 3, 20177 yr Author Shockingly ish, an NQ for my former personal chart #1 and one of my top songs of the year! We will be back with a vengeance for #100 though ;) Edited October 3, 20177 yr by StillJupiter
October 9, 20177 yr Author Knowing my luck as soon as I go back to indie that'll be the semi I'm in with dance bloc :o Thanks for commenting tho and liking Sway...it may be my favourite entry I've sent yet so it was a real shame to NQ. So, 100 looms now. I have three potential entries in mind; a brand newie, one that's a little older, and a comedy one. Anyone have any preferences there from those vague categories? I will be trialling some in plug this week too, so come along if you fancy a preview :3 Edited October 9, 20177 yr by FreddyVsJupiter
