Thought we should have an updated albums poll for the new forum (and before the Part 2 album comes)

It's simple... rate your favourite Steps album! wub.gif

I voted Step One as my favourite. Although Tears on the dancefloor is better I adore Step One it brings back memories of that time and the love I had (have) for the band!

1. Step One
2. Tears On The Dancefloor
3. Buzz
4. What The Future Holds
5. Steptacular
6. Light Up The World

Is probably my ordering.

Small nitpick but isn’t it Buzz not Stomp?

Though I’m sure most people know what you mean. biggrin.gif

Mine would have to be Steptacular, based on the .Australian track listing with Buzz coming in second.

My order:

1. Steptacular (5/5)
2. Buzz (4.5/5)
3. What The Future Holds (4.5/5)
4. Step One (4/5)
5. Tears On The Dancefloor (4/5)
6. Light Up The World

I only scored the top 5 to show how close, 2 & 3 and 4 & 5 are interchangeable.

ARRGHH I ALWAYS do this!! laugh.gif It's because ever since they released it I always said they should have called it Stomp as it fits in with the "Step" theme Step One, Steptacular, Stomp... so now I've taught myself it's Stomp and not Buzz laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I also thought they could have done a covers album called Step back in time and a Christmas album called Step into Christmas and that The Last Dance should have been The Last Step, a remix album Dance Steps... Yeah too far maybe?? laugh.gif

Hopefully a mod can edit it!

I agree with you, Stomp would’ve made a better album title.

Love though suggestions, a covers album would’ve been interesting but I guess they already did a decent amount of covers. Could’ve popped them all on to one album as a compilation with a few ‘new’ recordings. One being Step Back
In Time of course.

I've always had a huge soft spot for their debut so I voted for it.
01 Step one
02 Tears on the dancefloor
03 Steptacular
04 What the future holds
05 Buzz
06 Light up the world.

I do like the buzz album but at the time I didnt love it nearly as much as their first albums. The top 5 are all great albums and LUTW is a very distant 6th.

To be honest I would have preferred this over Light up the world laugh.gif

In fact even with the covers they had recorded up to that point (and including the LUTW album) something like this would have been a decent tracklist:

1. Tragedy (Bee Gees)
2. Last thing on my mind (Banarama)
3. Too busy thinking about my baby (Marvin Gaye)
4. Make it easy (Sybil)
5. Better the devil you know (Kylie)
6. Lay all your love on me (Abba)
7. Overjoyed (Stevie Wonder)
8. I know him so well (Barbara Paige & Elaine Dickinson)
9. Chain reaction (Diana Ross)
10. Moving on (Bananrama)
11. Love u more (Sunscreen)
12. A house is not a home (Dionna Warwick)
13. History is made at night (Marilyn Monroe & Joe DiMaggio)

I keep meaning to revisit the first three studio albums (I'm pretty sure that I haven't heard them in full since they were around the first time... I've dipped into them occasionally, but I really don't think I've listened from beginning to end)... and I've never actually heard Light Up the World kink.gif

I don't feel like I can answer this at the moment... however, from what I remember from 20 years ago... I think I would have ranked them: Steptacular, Step One and then Buzz. I have a feeling that I may have underrated Buzz, I remember I didn't give it as much of my attention as the first two albums. I look forward to listening again!

1. Tears On The Dancefloor (easily my favourite album of the last five years)
2. What The Future Holds (they really kept the quality high)
3. Step One (packed with classic singles, plus Love U More <3)
4. Steptacular (solid, with lots of great singles, although sorely missing Just Like The First Time)
5. Buzz (I found there to be a lot of filler on this)
6. Light Up The World (nice enough but just...not Steps)

For me it’s Step One, that’s where it all started for me and my love of Steps, and I still love that nostalgic feeling I get when I listen to it again. happy.gif

There is great nostalgia with their debut and it was and is a real solid album with very little filler.

Not one of their popular releases by a long shot.

I've actually only heard their last two albums! ohmy.gif I'll definitely use their new forum as a means to check them out!

I don't really know the earlier albums well enough to distinguish which is one each. I have listened to them all but I am much more familiar with their hits and their newer material.

My favourite album overall is Tears on the Dancefloor though.
