Posted September 14, 200916 yr Muse are leading the busiest release week of the year so far with their new album The Resistance set to head what could be up to eight new entries in the Top 10 this Sunday. The Helium 3/Warner Bros release is currently outselling its nearest six challengers combined with nearly 70,000 sales so far this week, according to early retail reports. The album appears almost certain to become the band’s third UK chart-topper. Running it closest is Revelation, the newly-issued album from Peter Andre on the Conehead label, which is a few thousand sales ahead at this stage of the Roc Nation/Atlantic-issued The Blueprint 3 by Jay-Z, another new release this week. Other new entries to the Top 10 this coming weekend could come from Mercury’s Pixie Lott, David Gray with his Polydor debut, Roadrunner/Warner’s Porcupine Tree and Megadeth, and Vertigo/Mercury’s Mark Knopfler. The spate of new entries will sweep away most of the existing Top 10, with the current number one, the Decca-issued Vera Lynn retrospective We’ll Meet Again – The Very Best Of, the only non new entry likely to retain a top five place. The four EMI-issued Beatles remastered albums that debuted in the Top 10 will also make significant drops, although at this point in the week they are still among the 20 biggest sellers. The singles sector cannot quite match the album’s market hive of new release activity but there could well be two new entries in the top two led by Island’s Taio Cruz with Break Your Heart. It is presently more than 10,000 sales ahead of Celebration, the lead-off single from Madonna’s new Warner Bros best of. The other big singles story is an expected double-digit climb into the top five by the Columbia-handled Shakira. Her single She Wolf on last Sunday’s chart was a new entry at 25. Meanwhile, Mercury’s Pixie Lott, whose single Boys & Girls rose 73-1 on last Sunday’s chart, has a battle on to retain her top-five status. Outside the 10 expect brand new entries from acts including Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic’s Paramore, Epic’s Paloma Faith and an EMI/Parlophone-issued Cliff Richard & The Shadows single to mark their farewell tour together. ========================================= Top 40 Only Singles http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/2717453.JPG 1 Taio Cruz (10k ahead) 2 Madonna 3 David Guetta 4 Shakira 5 Jay Z/Rihanna/Kanye West Top 15 Paramore Top 30 Paloma Faith 27 Lady GaGa [Lovegame] Top 40 Eva Cassidy Cliff Richard & The Shadows Pitbull (HRS) ======================================== Albums http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/MUSERESIST.JPG 1 Muse (70k) 2 Peter Andre 3 Jay Z 4 Vera Lynn 5 Pixie Lott Top 10 David Gray Porcupine Tree Megadeth Top 15 Mark Knopfler Top 40 Muse [bH & R] Bananarama Inme NO SALES INFO

September 15, 200916 yr Madge will probs be high today due to high physical sales, but unless rises on i-tunes quickly, then will most likely finish in lower top 10 by sunday sadly!
September 15, 200916 yr I would just love a no.1 by an artist who hasn't been at number one recurringly in the last 5 months. Shakira is the only song I seem to like at the moment.
September 15, 200916 yr I wonder if Cliff is a challenger for the top spot. More than likely Taio has is nicely wrapped up already in the singles, and Muse for the albums please! :D
September 15, 200916 yr Madge will probs be high today due to high physical sales, but unless rises on i-tunes quickly, then will most likely finish in lower top 10 by sunday sadly! I agree celebration isn't one of her best. I'd be happy with a top 3 hit.
September 15, 200916 yr So is it Official that the Queen is number 2 then? I suppose that's decent and better than I had thought. They will no doubt rush out Revolver now and hope the X Factor performance of it will give her and Warner's their last number 1 together.
September 15, 200916 yr Author Midweeks are in: Pixie Lott is out of the Top 5. Where from
September 15, 200916 yr Where from   That would be telling. :P Madonna is NEW at Number 2 yes, just behind Taio Cruz. Edited September 15, 200916 yr by Doctor Blind
September 15, 200916 yr I can't see Madge holding that number 2 position... its either incredibly close or there is some sales data missing IMO
September 15, 200916 yr Well she is 10000 behind Taio according to Music Week, so she won't be going up that's for sure.
September 15, 200916 yr I think she can hold number 2 easy. Shame she is missing out on her 14th number 1 but like I said Revolver will seal the deal for her after she sings it on X Factor in November.
September 15, 200916 yr Well she is 10000 behind Taio according to Music Week, so she won't be going up that's for sure. Woah, that's a big lead for Taio :o Never saw that coming
