The Sats need one. 'Ego' was the song to do it... shame it wasn't lead single! :P

I'll contribute to my own thread and say Muse and Green Day. And MORRISSEY! Not that he's got much of a chance now :(

On an actual serious note Alicia Keys definatly deserves one. I was really hoping at one point that Empire State Of Mind II could do it.

Mary J Blige hasnt had a UK #1 has she? Surely she deserves one aswell....

Sticking to acts who have NOT had a #1 (otherwise, yeah, might as well just list my favourite artist);

Depeche Mode

Sash!

Janet Jackson

REM

Texas

Sheryl Crow

Garbage

Anastacia

All have had long and decent single careers, but never a #1.

But just talking those who COULD (ie still active) potentially still get a #1, Alicia and Snow Patrol would be near the top of the list certainly. Also Kasabian, the Killers, Goldfrapp, Bloc Party, Kelis, Feeder, etc.

The people mentioning artists who've already had #1s are totally defeating the object of this topic!

Dannii has came close but been cruely robbed a few times, as has Janet Jackson but I care a bit less about that. :P Depeche Mode do deserve one but they've never actually came close really...

Muse and The Killers are both overdue a number 1, and I believe they can still sell and are'nt affected by the digital age (like Depeche Mode or Bon Jovi, I think their chance is gone)

I have to say Sash! here.

I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for him - 5 of his songs have stalled at the #2 mark but no #1 yet!

But in seriousness, I agree with The Killers, end.

Beyonce deserves a :no1:, her singles are incredible and never reach :no1:

'If I Were A Boy'...

After this era for Alicia (I can see it end well), she could easily explode to #1 for the lead single of her next album... As long as people find it interesting, as criticism for 'Doesn't Mean Anything' was that it was boring... And it has good airplay.

Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart should have been lead single. That + video exposure + radio backing + X-Factor would have gotten to #1, or at least top 3.

I stick with my idea that Morrissey and Dave Grohl should have had a #1 at some point. Probably with "First Of The Gang To Die" and "Best Of You"...

I agree with Morrissey and Depeche Mode, but neither have a chance anymore unless one of their songs gets a second lease of life for some reason. But hey, anything can happen in the charts.

Can't be arsed to think of my own right now, but I will say that Sash! never deserved a No.1 in my honest opinion, and every song that kept them off No.1 was far superior. :drama: Same with Dannii Minogue and The Saturdays.

Alicia Keys is probably overdue one, yes, but I'm not sure she can get it. She seems to have caught lightning in a bottle with this era [i mean, let's face it, Empire State Of Mind is the reason this era took off], and I'm not sure she can ever repeat this success again really.

The Saturdays cos Frankie & Rochelle have had 5 number two singles......

So many stupid artists mentioned in this topic LOL.

Anywayyy, tbh I don't think it's that important whether an artist has had a #1 single or not. I personally don't think it proves anything..

Yes, aside from the 3 solo number 1s?

Oh dear at some people.
