March 7, 201016 yr YES reggie how can you forget 'Rude Boy' was a contender <_< and he said it climbed meaning we all know it's number 2
March 7, 201016 yr I like this version more than the original, curiously enough. Good it's still inside the Top 5
March 7, 201016 yr It's all fine. Gigi D'Agostino did the male and female parts of "L'Amour Toujours (I'll Fly With You)" Classic track  Did he actually sing it himself then? :o Shame he never had a big UK hit...
March 7, 201016 yr Regarding the Your Woman lyrics, they make perfect sense: Just tell me what you've got to say to me I've been waiting for so long to hear the truth It comes as no surprise at all you see So cut the crap and tell me that we're through Now I know your heart, I know your mind You don't even know you're bein' unkind So much for all your highbrow Marxist ways Just use me up and then you walk away Boy, you can't play me that way Well I guess what you say is true I could never be the right kind of girl for you CHORUS: I could never be your woman I could never be your woman I could never be your woman I could never be your woman When I saw my best friend yesterday She said she never liked you from the start Well me, I wish that I could claim the same But you always knew you held my heart And you're such a charming, handsome man Now I think I finally understand Is it in your genes? I don't know But I'll soon find out, that's for sure Why did you play me this way Well I guess what you say is true I could never be the right kind of girl for you (CHORUS) Well I guess what they say is true I could never spend my life with a man like you I always thought it was about a gay man who has been played by a guy who was experimenting but ultimately is straight and the gay guy has finally accepted that his friends are right in saying that he could never turn him. The lyrics are the main reason why I was so impressed that the UK made this a #1 at the time... although I'm now thinking maybe it was just because nobody understood!
March 7, 201016 yr The only thing the mash up has over FloMac's solo version is the woohoo, yeah yeah backing stuff she sings.

I guess I was bit more naive when I was 21 and didn't get it.

No problems... and I think it was widely stated at the time that it was the first record to be made outside of a professional studio to reach #1 as he'd composed and recorded the entire thing in his bedroom.

I knew it was the first record to do something, but wasn't sure what record it held!
