Posted March 9, 201015 yr Do you think there is more to come out of the woodwork, for me personally Jason Derulo and Tinie Tempah, I never expected them to peak at #1. If Justine Bieber makes it, it be 3 in a row :manson:
March 9, 201015 yr This does all depend on what your expectations are. You could play me all the top 5 hits that there is going to be in 2010 and I probably wouldn't be able to predict any of the number 1s. I've completely lost touch with what will sell and what wont. I can't even pick out the tracks that are going to be singles on an album. Directly commercial songs go over my head and I find them bland and uninteresting. I remember thinking that Nelly Furtado's Man Eater would miss the Top 10 when I heard it.
March 9, 201015 yr La Roux, Tinchy, Chipmunk basically all the grime artists from last year. :manson:
March 9, 201015 yr La Roux, Tinchy, Chipmunk basically all the grime artists from last year. :manson: After seeing what 'In For The Kill' did I wasn't at all surprised 'Bulletproof' went to #1. I was surprised at Chipmunk, less so at Tinchy both times. All I'm hoping is that this year there will be a genuine rock #1. Last year we had nothing until RATM whereas before that, Viva La Vida, Sex On Fire, Ruby, Welcome To The Black Parade, America and No Tomorrow had all come through in three years. Not good. :(
March 9, 201015 yr Shakira-Hips Don't Lie. Good song but I didn't imagine it would be as big as that. P!nk-Just Like A Pill-again great song but it was up against Eminem and Busted so I had ruled it out. Anything by Pixie Lott-I'm amazed the girl has 2 no.1s no matter how low selling they were, she's nothing too special. Tomcraft-Loneliness-I hadn't even heard it until it was no.1 and even then I wasn't wowed by it. I'm with M!key on Jason Derulo as well.
March 9, 201015 yr Ja Rule - Wonderful  there's a very good reason I didn't expect it to be #1 too - it's forgettable, plodding nothingness :drama:
March 9, 201015 yr Yeah, Pixie Lott's number one surprised me (as in Mama Do, Boys and Girls wasn't too shocking). To be fair though, they chose great weeks to release the singles on, as they were some of the easiest weeks of the year.
March 9, 201015 yr Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne - Changes is the most "WTF?" number one since I started following the charts. It was released on an unpredictable week where nobody had any idea who would be number one, though, and I believe Ozzy had a motorbike accident of some sort the week it was out which got a lot of press. But I still didn't expect it to reach number one...
March 9, 201015 yr There's been a few this year already. Justin Derulo and Tinie Tempah to name a few
March 9, 201015 yr I have to say In My Head as well - I wanted it to be #1 but realistically never thought it actually would be :o
March 9, 201015 yr I guess Tinie Tempah's song was a bit of a shock, because I hadn't heard of it until Thursday, and I can't fathom how it got well-known enough for so many people to get the song. I discussed the song with my friends the other day too (because it was stuck in my head for hours!), but none of them had heard of it either.
March 9, 201015 yr i was pretty sure tempah would make no1 the first time i heard it - grime is pretty popular nowadays and its quite upbeat.i was pretty shocked at pixie lott at first but then it was obvious.didnt think jason derulo would make it as his first single was far better imo
March 9, 201015 yr My Chemical Romance- Welcome to the Black Parade, it was a brilliant song, but they werent that well known and emo wasnt very mainstream- I was really shocked when I heard it reached number 1 also Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy- What a Wonderful World- I'd never heard of it once and then it was announced as number 1- I literally couldnt believe it! still, I didnt have Buzzjack then, so I didnt know the mids  also I suppose at the time, Spiller/SEB with If This Ain't Love was quite a shock considering they were up against Victoria Beckhams first solo single- nonetheless, a nice surprise  and Blurs first one that stopped Oasis as well Edited March 9, 201015 yr by chart wizard
March 9, 201015 yr MCR was one i was suprised at for getting no.1 IMO. Basshunter too & Estelle. Never thought they'd get number 1. Jason Derulo recently would be too.
March 9, 201015 yr Rihanna - Umbrella (extremely obsessed with that song like 3 months before it was released in the UK  and expected it to be huge but never expected it to be #1 two weeks before release :o) Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You (after Since U Been Gone only went #5, i doubted this would be bigger) Pink - So What (just based on her past chart success in the UK) Beyonce - If I Were A Boy (didn't see that coming after it peaked at #2 on release week) BEP - Meet Me Halfway (thought and hoped Leona would get it that week. Didn't think BEP would have came close)
March 9, 201015 yr also Katie Melua and Eva Cassidy- What a Wonderful World- I'd never heard of it once and then it was announced as number 1- I literally couldnt believe it! still, I didnt have Buzzjack then, so I didnt know the mids  For most of us it came out of nowhere when it was number one in the mids
March 9, 201015 yr Everything that went to #1 this year so far was frankly shocking to me. Agree..2010 has been shocking so far...in a bad way.. <_<
March 9, 201015 yr I don't think anything that gets to number one these days is surprising simply because we can see it climbing its way there on iTunes. Therefore it lacks the "shock impact" that there used to be when you saw the midweeks/listened to the chart show on Sunday and found out what was number one. I think the last real shock number one for me was Katie & Eva - it was only sold in Tesco so therefore didn't appear on iTunes, and indeed nobody saw it coming.
