It's weird how 2009 was the year of the girls with Alexandra, Cheryl, Lilly, Lady GaGa, Kelly Clarkson and others having #1 singles - definitely with nearly every #1 single of the first three months of 2009 were by women.

Now a year later, the boys are ruling with Scouting for Girls, Owl City, Jason DeRulo, Tinie Tempah etc getting to number one. Only one female had a number one this year which is GaGa and even her gender is debatable! I guess Honey Bey might count as well.

Hopefully Leona, Alexandra, Christina, Diana, Sophie and Avril Lavigne will change that.

Upto 59 now.

Was about 180 last night so their Ross performance has worked wonders.

It was 486 yesterday afternoon

This is going to be the 3rd time this year we've had two rock songs as the top 2! I'd say this time is the most 'rocky' though.

Neither This Ain't A Love Song nor She Said are rock songs...

Anyone else noticed 'Ego' by The Saturdays rising about 8 places today?
"Weekend Effect" and stuff :P Also it's featured on the new NOW album so maybe that's helping it.
Is he being serious? :|

I think so. He keeps calling them rock songs...

What tracks are being added tonight?

I think Do Wah DO by Kate Nash and Sabrina Washington OMG are they're the only 1's I can think of ATM

I can't see Sabrina or Kate Nash doing overly well tbh.
Is Sabrina really releasing tonight? Has she had good airplay on the music channels? I'm guessing not...
OH! Is Kate Nash released TONIGHT?! :o

Yes, on download. CD is on 12th

She's not Top 40 on the Music Channels, and not Top 50 on Radio :(

It's going to flop

Shame about the UK's general attitude music-wise.

Many would buy Jedward just to be a sheep (who honestly would actually like that song sung by THEM?) and follow the crowd but if an artist has been in a band and tries to breakthrough as a solo artist - they get zero support and interest.

The same thing happened with Alesha. Lipstick underperformed as did Knockdown and it took at huge show like Strictly and Xenomania to revive her career.

Ooh, so Kate could get a #1 after all! :o

Joshua Radin is also released, although I think I saw him in the top 300 a while ago - I assume that was deleted?

Darwin Deez could scrape a top 100 hit.

I liked Jedward's song. It was a catchy track and much prefer that to Sabrina's song. However, that is my own opinion. I agree there are a lot of "sheep" when it comes to buying songs, there are ceratin artists that are deemed cool, like Rihanna, Beyonce and Gaga. The fact that loads of people all had images from the Telephone video as their signtaure etc makes the point. Not that I am against Gaga I think her album is fantastic. But, you get some artists that arent deemed cool and dont do well despite the fact their song is half decent.
