Moving up to the A-list:

Chipmunk ft Esmee

Kate Nash

Paolo Nutini

Diana Vickers

AMAZING... except Paolo! :puke: FOAD ALREADY! It seems to be helping the album though as it's back to number 5 in the mids this week :puke2:!

Brilliant for Taio & Biffy

Also just listened to that Aggro guy and MEH.

still no David Guetta or Cascada is shocking.

Not really imo. 'Memories' is tragic imo - I can't stand Kid Cudi's growling vocals on the track. Granted it's big in Europe but I'll be happy for this song to not trouble the top spot. Same with Cascada - 'Pyromania' is trying too hard to be 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' and Lady GaGa is doing that type of pop music much better.

I'm shocked though that Train or Alicia Keys or Alex B haven't been added yet. :(

Alicia Keys' Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart isn't out till the 24th May - about 2 months away. Way too early to be playlisted.

Glad to see Biffy playlisted.

I hope they playlist Agnes and Keri Hilson soon, though they might decide the latter song is too weak (even though it isn't)

Excellent to see Stereo Love on there! Two Romanian dance hits on the playlist - who'd have thought!?!

You predicted that this would get playlisted didn't you? I'm convinced that you're a wizard.

I'm surprised that Faithless got playlisted, it's not that it's not as good as their best (Insominia, We Come One), its that it isn't even as good as their less known stuff (God is a DJ, the fantastic Weapon of Mass Destruction). Nice to see Foals on the list as well, although I'm expecting more indie floppage as has become vogue this year.

This is the last country in Europe it hasn't been a hit in yet. It seemed pretty certain that they'd playlist it, particularly after the success of Inna. This sound is dominant in mainland Europe at the moment, it's taken ages to get over here - Inna and Edward Maya are well onto 2nd, 3rd and 4th hits in most countries now.

Erm but your basing that on your personal opinions of the song, hardly being objective. I could say the same thing about 90% of the indie-rock songs on the A-list, which imo are far too many by the way. "Memories" is a big shock since it's already beaten One Love, and his singles have been supported a lot by R1 previously. Same applies to Cascada with a lead single.

christ some of them new songs on the playlist make me think the era is moving on from the electro pop of the past 3 years in the charts on to cheesy house making a comeback - what with new faithless, fenech soler, edward may, tv rock and co its like a return to 1998-2002!!

That's because there's been no dance music added for like a month. If anything, the previous 2 weeks made me think we were going back to the obsucre indie-rock days of 2004-2007, with about 10 of them added in just 2 weeks. In fact, taking a look at the whole playlist, Radio 1 seem to think we are. I occasionally post retro playlists, and the current 2010 playlist resembles more of the 2005-2006 playlists rather than the 1998-2002 ones.
the re-entries for candy and dont stop me sum up the music on radio 1 imo they are playing them more this year than last because the station is scarred to take a risk with music and will only play a band when they know the public loves them!!hence candy being alisted a year after its release!!
URGH, what's with all the bland indie stuff on the A-List? :/

What do you mean 'all the'? The only 'indie' songs I see are Futureheads and Vampire Weekend who are both certainly not bland!

^^true

mumford and sons have been alisted for 10 weeks now - bejasus!!

Have they?

I think it's closer to 6 or 7 weeks...

i take a note of the playlist each week along with the weeks for each song and mumford and sons have been alisted for 10 weeks and thats not including the lets say 2 weeks the song was in the c-blist as well.the next longest track is pass out - 8 weeks in the alist and then gaga/beyonce 5 weeks.its along time alright!!

Do you know what the longest time is that a song has been on the A-List/Play-list overall, and which song it was?
