April 6, 201016 yr  gaga back at #1, wow at the success of this woman! The sales between the top two are very close, it could be either one of them by Sunday - just like last week.
April 6, 201016 yr rated r never seems to be able to break into the top 10 on the back of her new singles in contrast to beyonce!! It re-peaked at #9 after Rude Boy :P
April 6, 201016 yr me wrong then, still not as persistent as artists like alicia, gaga, beyonce and album artists like mumford and sons, biffy etc considering the exposure she gets.

True but that is because Rihanna just doesn't have the right material imo. Only Rude Boy was the stand out - along with my personal fave Russian Roulette. I don't even know why i have her album. I guess i made a pact that i'd buy it after the pure amazingocity (will add it to urban dictionary when i can be arsed) of Good Girl Gone Bad

April 6, 201016 yr I personally love Rated R, I think it's a very good album, and I love Rude Boy, Te Amo, Rockstar 101, Firebomb and some others  Really? Well i guess each to their own but i think it's safe to say GGGB was a far better album as a whole ^_^ Rated R is tragic imo. I feel Rihanna is trying too hard to be edgy and selling her soul to the general public who nowadays only except shallow music. Let's face it "Cum 'ere rude boy boy can you get it up, cum 'ere rude boy boy do you think you're big enough?" or whatever the lyrics are are very cringeworthy and not the Rihanna that launched in 2005. Fair enough artists grow, people grow etc but it just seems too contrived. I'd also like to say, at this point, what i've just said about Rihanna is what many (some on here) have urged Leona to do. "she should release more dancey stuff, ballads are boring". I'd rather support an artist than someone who intentionally goes in the direction of popular music taste. Sorry just felt like a rant.
April 6, 201016 yr She & Him Top 30?! :o AMAZING! Not heard the album yet, i've downloaded, just haven't listened to it yet. 'In The Sun' is gorgeous and really deserved to be a big summer hit. She & Him, for those who are wondering, includes the mega talented (and gorgeous) actress Zooey Deschanel ('(500) Days Of Summer').
April 6, 201016 yr I actually prefer Rated R to Good Girl Gone Bad! Ok, it's not packed full of club hits and radio smashes but there are some stunning moments on it for me  GGGB had some amazing singles but also a few (granted only 2 or 3) boring fillers, whereas I like everything on Rated R.
April 6, 201016 yr Apols not read through but it may have been pointed out already - I believe Apple data for yesterday is missing in both singles/album charts. Hopefully sorted for tomorrow.

I disagree really. On a couple of the tracks from Rated R at least, I'd say she succeeds in supplying the 'attitude' that she previously attempted but it seemed forced, it's undeniable that the singles from Good Girl Gone Bad were monster catchy hits but the music on Rated R seems more real to me. Also, the Rihanna that launched in 2005 was as contrived as you could get, it was such a fake wannabe dancehall girl. She's definitely evolved since those days fortunately.

They were her roots - she is from Barbados, y'know
April 6, 201016 yr even the good girl album considering the hits from it didnt persist in the album charts as long as the airplay/singles success suggests it could have - how much did it sell altogether? i think she has stuck to the same sort of routine as the previous album but russian roulette, although i didnt like it, shows a more serious side to her.i like rihanna but i am confused at how the public dont take to her albums consistently in comparison to beyonce.i think bey has a slightly older fanbase maybe?

Rihanna has kinda established herself as more of a singles artist, imo.

Yer maybe. This might sound controversial but Beyonce has never changed her sound through all her 3 albums. Whereas, Rihanna love taking risks (and that's one of the things I love about her). I expect Rated R to really to take off when she comes on tour next month. :) Anyway, come David & Kudi reach the top 15 and Paramore will hopefully reach the top 30.

Hopefully sorted for tomorrow. aha... I knew something was amiss with the chart, as there was a lot of non movers, and Delirious was way down to #25 already. That would make the Saturdays out of the top 40 tomorrow :D

Good Girl Gone Bad was in the top 40 for like 70 weeks - or even more. It sold 1.5 million in the UK and peaked at #1 - i think twice. Worldwide, it has sold over 8 million copies.
April 7, 201016 yr Good Girl Gone Bad was in the top 40 for like 70 weeks - or even more. It sold 1.5 million in the UK and peaked at #1 - i think twice. Worldwide, it has sold over 8 million copies. It only peaked at #1 once, and the reloaded version only peaked at #2. The original album album spent the total of 43 weeks in the Top 40, spending 56 weeks in the Top 100, with it re-entering again this week at #82. Whereas the reloaded album spent 40 weeks in the Top 40, spending 72 weeks in the Top 100.
April 7, 201016 yr really impressed by the staying power of the boyzone album, with a second single out soon it could be around for a while but dont expect it to stay in the top few much longer. Shocked by the gorillaz album, only heard bits myself, but expected this to be a big one!
