:o This is such an under-rated TUNE! I still it on CD single! ^_^

It climbed to #1 the following week replacing Watergate at the top. Brilliant song, I also loved its predecessor Another Way, and it's successor We Are Alive. I bought all three on single, and the parent album

Now this was great dance music, trance in particular. Not the current dancey rap stuff dominating the charts, I dont consider it to be dance at all.

Me neither, if anything that's rhythmic music and you know how the American definition of "rhythmic" is. :puke2:

this time baby, i'll be bullet-proof.

It was HUGE at the time though, and I think it is one of Britney's best songs (not a patch on Toxic of course)

I'm not listening to Reggie no more I just watch the chart unfold online on Radio 1 :D

I was disappointed when 'Tell Me Why' went in at no. 7 in the UK charts whilst in the same week Armand Van Helden's butchering of Gary Newman's 'Cars' (ie; 'Koochy' :puke: ) went in at no. 4 - a brilliant dance track outsold by some absolutely dreadful garbage "dance" music.

I'd rather listen to it than Toxic  That said, I'm hardly one of her biggest fans, a few songs aside. I was all about Christina, and always have been right up until she released Not Myself Tonight :drama: Hopefully it's just a minor blip and not representative of the album.

Hmm... I have to agree with you there. I actually thought it was from 1999, so didn't include it in my flop decade chart at the end of last year. :o

Koochy is decent, but hardly a patch on Tell Me Why. But then I was all about trance at the time, so that's no surprise. "We Are Alive" is better though, that was underrated.

For me, Christina hit her peak with Back to Basics, so we will see where her new album takes her!

You can be forgiven for being confused, what with the 40-odd number 1s in 2000!

Definitely agree with you there. Koochy was abysmal, Tell Me Why wasn't. I loved 2000 because the big dance hits went to #1 or top three, the medium sized ones still made top ten and even the smaller ones (like You Put Me In Heaven With Your Touch), managed to go top 30 usually. Fast forward 10 years, and only the HUGE ones make #1/top 3, the medium sized ones go top 40 if they're lucky (a la TV Rock - In The Air - would have gone top 10 in 2000) and the smaller ones don't even dent the top 200 :(

Pssh!! It's always been about Britney. :smoke: Christina is very on/off for me; she's got some amazing songs such as 'Genie...' and 'Fighter', but I'm not too keen on stuff such as 'Candyman' (although I loved it at the time), 'Not Myself Tonight' (obvs) and 'Dirrty' I find very overrated.

I think its more to do with the fact its bubblegum pop, and people forget how it was huge in 2000. Whenever I go on youtube looking for hits in 2000, and sometimes 2001, you'll see loads of comments saying "I miss the 90s", people associate very early 2000s music with that decade, whether its dance, pop, rnb or rock.
