July 2, 201015 yr I haven't heard it yet, so I can't vote - but on past experience of XF follow-up albums, it may well under-perform.
July 2, 201015 yr I think Taio's Dynamite will top the charts that week so I put this at #2. If TCIA gets to #1 and this doesn't, the JLS stans/Alex haters (they tend to be one in the same) are going to have a field day. To be fair this song is nowhere near as good as her past singles or the majority of Overcome's tracks but still deserves a better/equal peak to that god awful piece of $h!t that JLS are releasing.
July 2, 201015 yr And that cheap saloon has-been singer is coming back with a atrocious tune... How embarrassing. <yuk> Edited July 2, 201015 yr by MTV79
July 2, 201015 yr If the promo is good (which will most likely be the case), then ordinarily, the first week sales would be strong enough to top the charts for that time of year, but it will be blocked by what I think will be a monster hit for Taio and will have to settle for a #2 peak. After the inital first week surge, I can see sales dropping off meaning it will have a pretty bad chart run. I don't think the song is strong enough to be a single, let alone a lead single, and won't be a song that will stick around. Edited July 2, 201015 yr by Daniel Gleek
July 2, 201015 yr I voted No.1 until I realised the Taio clash. This is not really a lead single so it just needs to shift a few albums really, and the TCIA comparisons don't really count, though JLS fans will want to compare if it's not a chart topper. I hope one of them moves, because I think Taio and Alex will both sell big numbers. The fact it's one of the hottest summers we've ever had could really help Alex if things stay this way!

This is a important reason why I think it will have such a high peak and decent first week sales, although I can't see it sticking around much after that inital surge. I think it will follow a similar pattern to Once.
July 2, 201015 yr There is no way it will have a chart run similar to Once, which only had 5 weeks Top 40 and is now out of the Top 100.All Night Long has even outsold it.Alex's songs tend to have a good chart run and I imagine Start Without you will be no different. Its just a shame that Dumb, Good Night Good morning and maybe The Silence will not be released now.

It's going to be huge if that does happen. It'll be what the XFactor viewers who voted for her, want from her.
July 2, 201015 yr I think top 3 at best, I dont think she'll get another number 1 some of the song sounds good, but that rapper just totally ruins it and well, it sounds like shes trying to sound jamaican

I meant it will follow a similar pattern, in that it will peak high in its first week and then drop quickly, it might very well stick around in the lower ends of the chart longer than Once did, but that's not the point I was making. All Night Long is a very good song that was a fan favourite before its release and was selling at first based on cherry picking and good word of mouth, that positive reaction is why it had longevity; Start Without You is weak in my opinon and general opinion seems very divided among her fanbase, hence why I think the chart run will be poor. July 3, 201015 yr It's actually got caught in my head lool. Is this gonna be on a new album or re-release? Anyway i've voted top 10 but think it will drop like a brick after it's peak.
July 3, 201015 yr Isn't it too soon for a new promo single for the next album ? She should have waited a bit more imo before releasing a new single. There is not much antinticipation for it now. Could it be that her label are not too much into her anyway? Strong promo singles are usually released in autum... --> I don't like the song but I didn't like her previous ones either, so this shouldn't be unsettling for Alex fans. Still we all now what happens to 'freshmen' (especially xf winners) in the second album era, so the charting/sales shouldn't shock anyone anymore. I'll vote for top5 Edited July 3, 201015 yr by 7heDreamer

I'll vote for top5 Its not for a new album, the song will be included as part of an Overcome rerelease at the end of the year.It is a Summer single, The Silence is supposed to be the lead single for the rerelease.I am sure if Syco were not into Alex there would have been no more single releases for her and her International promo would also have stopped. The song has just been released to radio so not sure where you get lack of anticipation from.
July 3, 201015 yr It's possible that there could be a "Saturdays situation" where the two eras merge - although for Alex it is only a re-release. Oh and saying all X Factor winners have an underperforming second album is plain ignorant. Shayne Ward's second album peaked at #2, probably sold more than his debut did IIRC and contained two top 10 singles. Leona's album was also successful by any normal standard but the poor management and single choices prevented it from fulfiling it's potential. If 'The Silence' is indeed leading the re-release with an accompanied X Factor performance, then there's no reason why Alex couldn't get her fourth #1 (Start Without You could be her 3rd). ^_^ Edited July 3, 201015 yr by SceneofSIXCrimes
July 3, 201015 yr There is absolutely nothing original about this song. In addition to sounding like Boney M and a squash advert, it sounds like the songs you hear on kids TV programmes aimed at under 8's

In addition to sounding like Boney M and a squash advert, it sounds like the songs you hear on kids TV programmes aimed at under 8's  There is hardly anything original about anything that charts these days.Plus Boney M were great in their heyday. It is merely a Summer song in line with most Summer songs, fun, upbeat with a carnival vibe not the return of Aretha Franklin.
