'We Speak No Americano' up to #2? Bloody hell. :o

I've started to like that now.

#2 when combined, #3 & #31 when not, but I guess combined is more important considering that's what counts in the end, it could be at #1 soon! :yahoo:

Vile! Absolutely vile number 2! :puke:

Not surprising to see 'Airplanes' & 'Love The Way You Lie' so close together and 'Airplanes' virtually climb ever since Emihanna got airplay, as they're very similar songs. Although the latter is that bit more superior imo.

I was humming to the tune of Airplanes and it suddenly turned into Love The Way You Lie, how random? I didn't notice...

Just realised, first PopUp™ I've done in AGES!

Also, though it looks like Bang Bang Bang has no chance of #1 at all any more, supposing it could do it Q-Tip would have waited nearly 20 years to get to #1 (he first charted in August 1990 with A Tribe Called Quest, with the song 'Bonita Applebum').

K, enough with the Q-Tip facts now :kink:

Another one to add:

Q-Tip almost had a number 1 back in 1990, when he guested on Deee-Lite's 'Groove is in the Heart,' which reached no.2. However, under current chart rules it would've ended up as joint no.1 with The Joker by Steve Miller Band, as both sold the exact same number of copies. The Joker got the number 1 because it had the biggest increase in sales.

Thanks for this. :)

This is an absolutely phenomenal top 3!

I agree that Love the Way You Lie and Airplanes are similar (although nowhere near to the extent of the whole Beyonce/Kelly Clarkson thing from last year), and I love both, but I think Airplanes is better.

I was wondering, since Eminem rapped on Airplanes, does anybody think maybe he heard it the song before he started doing Love the Way You Lie?

Thanks for that RIOS, Ive missed them :D

Wow at Americano, I wonder if this will be number 1 later in the week, although probably not officially this week

The chart is looking so much better now, some great records climbing, JLS falling and B.o.B looking likely for number 1- what an improvement, British Public!

wow, jason and ellie already doing well with hardly any airplay. impressive. :o shame diana's still floating in the 70s though. -_-
^Yeah, Jason is doing really well, but I've been hearing it a LOT on the radio. I'm sure the airplay charts will beg to differ, but I've been hearing it more than Ridin' Solo the past few days. Heck, even Heart FM are playing it! :o I guess it's got no rapping, no autotune (I think), and no sampling (although some say it sounds like a Leona song), so Heart don't have an excuse not to play it I suppose...

Didn't "The Joker" sell eight more copies than Dee-Lite in actuality? That's what I've heard reported.

Nope. I'm pretty sure that was the week of the only joint-number one to date.

Nope, that was the 'party line' used at the time so that people wouldn't think it was an injustice.

Kate Nash was 16 sales short of Timbaland on 29th July 2007 - that's the cloest to a 'joint #1' we've had since that rule was revoked.
