July 18, 201016 yr I sincerely hope Owl City holds on, even though that is looking increasingly unlikely now- OMG outselling Fireflies is just tragic  I agree that Fireflies is better than OMG, but OMG wouldn't be that bad as the year-end number-one. There's so many worse songs which could get it.
July 18, 201016 yr Author Just done a little clean up due to the continuous spamming, for heaven sake, keep your posts in one post not as several comments ffs.
July 18, 201016 yr Good to see Diana's album rising back up - shame it just missed out on going back top 40. Also good to see TBWML enter - wish it was 56 places higher though ;)

July 18, 201016 yr I agree that Fireflies is better than OMG, but OMG wouldn't be that bad as the year-end number-one. There's so many worse songs which could get it. I suspect the biggest selling single of 2010 hasn't been released yet. I get the impression we're gonna have a massive selling single sometime between September-December during the X Factor deason. Whether it's Olly debut single or Joe's "first single" I'm not sure but that's my gut instinct. I don't think 'California Gurls' is going to outsell 'OMG' now.
July 18, 201016 yr What on earth at Robyn having a late 90's indie band fanbase buy sort of chart run with Dancing On My Own :o It's performed even worse than Show Me Love did, which itself was a fairly rapid #8 faller in a much more volatile chart landscape in 1998...
July 18, 201016 yr I agree that Fireflies is better than OMG, but OMG wouldn't be that bad as the year-end number-one. There's so many worse songs which could get it. I just never got its huge sales- I always found it extremely boring and generic- with terrible lyrics, and well I dont want something like that as the year-end number 1, especially looking at last years top 2 Theres been far worse released this year though- its just that this is the only one with a chance of getting year-end number 1 Dont really want CG to get number 1 either- its not a great song Edited July 18, 201016 yr by chart wizard
July 18, 201016 yr Just realised Esmee/Justin Timberlake have sneaked in at #68 - Thats Justin's first single to miss the Top 20
July 18, 201016 yr :w00t: :w00t: So pleased Katie Price managed to go Top 60  What is there to be excited about? It's a proper flop. Can you think of singles that peaked at #60 on the back of newspaper coverage, promotion on Radio 1 and a GMTV performance? She won't be happy about the fact she won't make a penny from this project. The chart position is symptomatic of her popularity at the moment, the last time she 'graced' the charts (with Peter Andre) they somehow got to #12, but that was a long long time ago. The chart position is symptomatic of her popularity at the moment, the last time she 'graced' the charts (with Peter Andre) they somehow got to #12, but that was a long long time ago. Boyzone had almost identical promotion for their last single and got to #44...Kate Nash appeared on GMTV and 3 other TV shows this week and missed the Top 100.... I am REALLY pleased it managed to chart at all - It was recorded 3 weeks ago with no build up to release, She done 2 radio interviews and had a TV performance [being on GMTV hardly guarantees a hit!], It was released on her own lable and she had no airplay and a video was not made for any additional TV exposure.
July 18, 201016 yr Just realised Esmee/Justin Timberlake have sneaked in at #68 - Thats Justin's first single to miss the Top 20  Justin's 'Hallelujah' (with Matt Morris and Charlie Sexton) only made #91 Although I suppose that was cherry picks from Hope For Haiti Now.

Both of them have had their albums out though - Boyzone are in the top 10 sellers of the year. Which ever way you look at it the big titted whore has flopped big time
July 18, 201016 yr Just a question... Due to the single virsion of The boy who murderd needing to be downloaded off dianas album does this make the album go up the chart.. or do albums only go up the chart on itunes if people are buying the whole album?

Whichever version of the song you download, it counts towards the actual single. This goes for multiple versions (i.e. single and album versions) and remixes.
July 18, 201016 yr Best #1 since Fireflies. f***ing awesome :D I reckon Airplanes itself could be a serious threat for the best seller of the year. I can honestly predict it being very close up the top end by December between B.o.B, Usher, Katy & Fireflies with whatever big hitters are still to come thrown in for good measure.
July 18, 201016 yr I think "Airplanes" could indeed be a contender. I think it got just over 50k a couple of weeks ago, just over 70k last week, and Dave (in the Almost Saturday chart) said it should be around 80k this week - pretty good going :D
July 18, 201016 yr wow, shock to see diana just next to the top 40 :o looks like there is a silver lining to the cloud of TBWML's flop. Hardly. Ke$ha and Marina's albums returns to the top 40 when their next singles came out and then plummeted again a few weeks later, Diana will probably do the same.
