Israel might possibly have hit a new low. They targeted the building where the Hamas delegation in peace talks were gathered. That, inevitably, leads to speculation that Israel's commitment to the talks was totally bogus. It was just a ruse to get several senior Hamas figures in one place where they could be attacked. Naturally, Israel isn't going to worry about minor issues such as the fact that it meant launching attack on the territory of a sovereign state. Israel is a terrorist state, but the rest of the world can't bring themselves to say so.

  • Call me a pessimist but I am still unconvinced this ceasefire/peace process will last longer than the last hostages corpse crossing into Israel. Hamas have made it clear already they will not disarm.

My security checks for naturalisation are complete I can say this with my full lungs

It PISSES me off that Israel is not being treated the same way as Russia. Neither have an interest in peace. Both want to commit genocide. And what’s really galling is that unlike the useless corrupt Russians, the Israelis are actually effective at achieving their genocidal aims. They’re starving Gazans to literal death. They’re attacking random 3rd countries. they’re piece by piece flattening the entire territory until gazans have nowhere to go but to die

Yes I know the start of the conflicts are very different. Israel reacted to a legit threat, Russia is reacting to Putin’s hallucinations. Doesn’t excuse the end results

Must be difficult living in Germany now as I’m aware that they are (were) nearly scared to criticise Israel due to historical realities.

Good to see RTE have threatened to boycott the Eurovision next year if Israel are allowed to take part. As in football how on earth are they allowed in as a Middle East state.

Apparently the current Gaza war is over. Plaudits for 'peace in the Middle East' abound.

do not see lasting peace as a likely outcome just yet until Palestine is a full UN state and can meaningfully control its borders (by having jurisdiction over illegal settlements and no blockade) though so the celebrating feels quite hollow.

Hamas have made it clear already they will not disarm. I don’t trust the Israeli government to be doing anything more than just going along with it to get hostages home to remove the leash their families were desperately clinging onto to stop Netanyahu from dropping a nuke on the hostages

While I'm glad for the genocide to stop even momentarily, This just reads as Trump's attempt at a Nobel prize and good PR , there's far too many unknowns about this deal that Hamas haven't agreed to and Israel have violated their word too much over the last few years for me to be sure they'll stick to it.

Today was one massive PR show!

What do they think will happen in the future after flattening Gaza and killing 68k people there?? It’ll just create more terrorism and extremism

I really don't get why so many countries are praising this supposed deal. The deal is full of holes. There is nothing about who will pay to reconstruct Gaza. There is no timescale for Israel to withdraw from Gaza. There is nothing about Israel's continued building of illegal settlements in the West Bank.

Whatever Hamas says, there will be many Palestinians who want revenge against Israel for their genocidal acts over the last two years,.

They really are just happy theyve destroyed enough of Gaza to make it near impossible to live in and got the hostages free. That’s really all they care about.

Love the fact everyone is very welcoming of football hooligans now. If only Reform & Tories could transport themselves back to the 80s.

And self confessed patriot Yaxley-Lennon will be supporting that well known British team Maccabi Tel Aviv.
