If The Saturdays had released Ego and Higher as lead singles from the albums they would have got two number ones. Forever Is Over and Missing You are nothing in comparison to the former two tracks so the record company only have themselves to blame.
I think same tbh.

Why release something that doesn't have mass appeal?..

They should've come up with something like 'Ego' - it's more commercial and instantly likeable.

Heard all the songs on headlines and missing you is the best and was the clear option for lead single. Saturday fans you have to stop finding exuses of them not going to #1, it hasnt gone to #1 because they havent got the fanbase strength unfortunately. They'll just have to settle with #2's and top 10s, nothing wrong with that.

Glad eminem and rihanna up to #2 they gota be #1 soon!

No one knows how 'Ego' and 'Higher' would behave as the lead singles. And if they had failed to go to #1 there would have been LOADS of comments why 'Forever is Over' and 'Missing You' hadn't been the lead singles.
Didn't think I'd see The Writer outpeak Guns and Horses on iTunes. The latter is so underrated but glad that The Writer is having success. I think maybe a re-release of Under The Sheets may have been best for the second proper single.

Under The Sheets has always been my fav. Ellie song, that along with the Jakwob Remix to Starry Eyed. Pure Bliss

The writer is still struggling to even make top 20, its not going well really, unfortunately.

It would be god to see Nicky Minaj have a solo hit with Your Love, the song is rather good and love the video.

Ellie is in the same boat as Marina,Paloma, Diana and Marina they seem to have limited appeal, not sure why.

26 in the Midweeks, rising quite rapidly. Top 25 is a success tbh, so I don't know what you're talking about, It was never going to do a 'Starry Eyed' and has outperformed her other 2 singles already, I can see it having TSWABH or Prayin' type run.

I think it's because they all are in a sub-genre that is hard to appeal for everyone, a type of PopRock. Personally, I love it.

top 25 is a success? erm not really.

Nicki minaj is arguably the worst thing in music, erghh she is beyond s***.

For a third single of that genre, and the fact it's a ballad, download only, and outpeaked her last single (Guns and Horses), and an album that has been selling okay - I have this down as a success. As the number of singles from an album increases, you'll often find they start peaking lower and lower, but it looks like The Writer won't, which is why I have it down as fairly successful.

Oops that was funny, I meant Laura Marling who I think has had reasonable album sales but is missing from the singles chart.I really like Ellie as well both Starry Eyed and Guns and Horses are great.Album sales are picking up for her though and she is getting some good promotion slots.

Nicky Minaj is a planet unto herself, completely over the top and in your face but I think she dominates every collab she does and there are too few women in rap.

for that genre of music it is a success - look at marina, paloma and people like that, their singles never do very well. i'm very disappointed with how badly marina is doing actually, i thought oh no! was defo top 20 material and it's not done much for her album either, oh well.

Yes, and there is a good reason for that & should always stay that way.

If they had released Ego first, they might have had a no1 (though not definate by any means) but any other single would have likely flopped. Atleast FIO followed by ego ensured 2 hit singles. Two hits are better than a no1 and a flop - ask diana vickers, she would agree ^_^

Does Your Love sample another song? Because it sounds familiar, like a classic 80's song or something?
