I've noticed this and don't understand it. Do all DJ's only play songs that have been around for a few weeks? Is there not a single DJ in the UK at this moment in time who has 'Miami 2 Ibiza' for example. Or maybe clubbers are requesting older chart hits hence they get played more.

The mind boggles...

Most people are quite behind unfortunately, or rather the regular partygoers are more familiar with the hits that have been around for a while now.

Bruno Mars back at number 1! :o its doing really well

so I think we'll definately have a new number 1 next week, the XF live shows start tonight, so expect the charts to be dominated from this week onwards

The X Factor performances will be excluded from the charts: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore...re?id=396992921

To protect the integrity of the X Factor competition, sales information in relation to the live contestant performances will not be reflected in any published sales charts.

I feel quite weird about that, it kind of makes it look like a fix...

The charts won't be dominated by the X Factor, but the X Factor will certainly have some impact. Some songs still in the charts will be performed infront of 10 million people, so that will probably get them a few thousand extra sales.

Travie McCoy will have a big sales increase, could actually see him top 10 again, out of all the tracks used.

I didnt actually mean that, I meant the acts who perform on the results shows will get a sales boost

no Im very glad that isnt happening- it wouldnt be fair to have hugely front-loaded covers making the top 10, then plummeting the next week- Glee onbly got 1-2 million and rarely made the top 10 so it was OK- XF would be very different

also the songs the acts perform could also make the charts- expect Billionaire and Airplanes to get a big boost next week

I think they should chart though. The charts are supposed to show what the most bought songs of the week are.

Plus, I don't even think they would even reflect the most popular act to such an extent anyway.

I do kind of agree. They won't be wanting the songs to count as the producers of the show will think it will reveal who's doing the best, and that giving us sales figures would be just like giving us the voting figures. But it wouldn't fully work like that, as the voting audience is different to the music buying audience. Someone like Joe, nice, sweet, young lad, would get votes from grannies. But then they won't exactly be going on to iTunes to download the performance.

Yeah, and like Ruth's Purple Rain, for example, without a doubt would've been the most downloaded song from that week, even though she only came 10th in the voting.

Joe's Don't Stop Believing from last year probably would've sold a lot though.

Come on Posner make top 10, will be more difficult once tomorrow releases are in, Pixie, Joe & Buble all likely to be top 10, with ting tings top 20/top15 maybe even top 10, anyone else?
I'm not sure how well the new entries will do. I've yet to hear any of them, which means the promotion isn't great! :o

so the xfactor performances wont be in the official chart?

thank god for that,it would have boosted sales but it would have been ridiculous seeing the top 40 full of them poor covers!!
