I think overall the standard is quite high this year, even most of the gimmick acts are fairly likeable characters.

Aidan was my favourite by far, there was something quite menacing and artsy about his approach to the song which really made it stand out. 2 through to 9 were all decent enough, 10 to 13 I find completely forgettable while the bottom three were just dire.

 

 

Looking forward to Joe's performance tomorrow night. ^_^ Can't say the same for Usher though. If his BGT and VMA performances are anything to go by i'm not expecting much vocally. :puke2:

I don't think Cher proved to be versatile tonight. She sang an R&B song and rapped some lines, which is what she has been doing since she first auditioned. Don't get me wrong, I really like her, but I don't know why people seem to think that adding the same "twist" to the same genre is versatile, it's not.

 

Mary, Rebecca and Matt stole the show tonight, I think. Nicolo and Cher were great too. Serious talent from the UK and Ireland this year, very very pleased! The only act I dislike is Katie. Actually, I despise her. :P

FYD 4 = 0ops curse of the 1st strikes again!

Matt 6 = needs to improve to progress

John 4 = bland but might pick up the Christian vote.

Rebecca 7 = wow really a voice of the moment with the Motown revival, needs better material though.

Storm 7 = brilliant, dad rock, love the odd balls this year.

Belle Ami 3 = shambles, dead cert for the bottom three.

Cher 6 = did better than I anticipated, although it remains to be seen that she doesn’t leave the show via rehab.

Diva Fever 7 = entertaining, was the older one’s microphone turned on?

Paige 5 = costume faux pas and the bottom 3 are quite synonymous.

Katie 6 = really wanted to hate, but she did more than a good job.

Mary 6 = she can sure belt them out…

Nicolo 7 = exudes effortless nonchalant charm, alas it will be largely lost on the hoi polloi

1 Direction 5 = they’ve got the pre-teen vote sown up, at least they're pretty cute.

Wagner +10 = LMFAO absolutely hilarious! What a legend!

Aiden 8 = he’s no Adam Lambert, but a powerful performance nether-the-less.

TrayC 8 = putting her illiterate parentage aside, a safe choice sung very well, the most accomplished performance of the night.

 

I hope the token dullards get sent packing first; the entertainment value is from the quirky variety. :smoke:

Her styling was very contrived but then pop acts often are, people seem to be hating her for having these qualities as a person when they love it when the likes of Gaga/Britney/Stefani etc do similar things.

I thought vocally she seemed very, very nervous ... much more so than any of the others (and given the reception she's been given that is understandable). It was a p***-poor choice of song from Cheryl ... is she deliberately sabotaging one of her own acts? If I was given the choice of a second-chance ... as much as I don't like her (or what the show has made us think of her) I'd choose Katie over Cher any day. Cher has used up her chances already ... she's just crap.

I hate Katie, everything about her, weak singer, not naturally stylish, just a try hard. I like Cher but something tells me that she is a bit of a bitch, but i may be wrong. Diva Fever annoy the hell out of me and the whole staging concept and costumes were terrible, but the short hair boy can sing! They need to give them a proper shot, not gimmick before people vote them off. I love rebecca (she was my fav, but was a little boring) It shocked me how much i like Aiden and i even hated that song! He made me like it! Oh and Belle Ami do NOT deserve to be the next big girl band... p*** poor, i'll take the sugas/GA/Sats anyday. Tween boyband work well, nicolo is a big head but is hot and needs a proper shot, not a lady gaga song, Mary was great but would she sell? Trayc, we've seen it a billion times before, she's a lesser good Alexandra and the others are nothing special, including, Matt.

 

FYD 3 = Absolute rubbish, think they are better than they are.

Matt 4 = I don't get the hype?

John 1 = Who?

Storm 5 = Average, annoying... I like the red hair.

Belle Ami 1 = Terrible.

Cher 6 = She's alright, I'm not crazy about her yet, i still only see a cheryl tribute act.

Diva Fever 7 = One great singer, need to here the other more, get rid of the camp gimmick and give them chance.

Paige 5 = Yawn.

Katie 0 = She can't sing. She's just a copycat and from what trayc said, she's an ar*ehole too.

Mary 8 = Great but she won't sell.

Nicolo 6 = He needs to get over himself and not sing a fast pop song as his accent will only make him sound like surovision. Tonight = Rubbish but there is something there.

1 Direction 5 = These will sell well. They will end up being great but the boy in the white top (not the one who had an amazing audition) seems too cocky.

Wagner 2 = Terrible, but i get why he is there... Although louis could have put one of the more talented people through.

Aiden 10 = I wasn't a fan, but his set, his arrangement, his voice, everything was perfect... His singing eyes look like he's about to jump out of the TV and kill me though.

TrayC 7 = She was great but we've seen it all before... Plus she looked trashhhhhhy, seriously, this show needs better stylists.

Couldn't they just do that in the final like 4 weeks? because the show will change alot plus it means they won't have hits? Which makes it kind of pointless? iTunes aren't going to be publishing any sales information about the tracks, so they won't chart on the iTunes chart, nor the official chart. ;)

Today was some like weird-fest. No one stood out at all for me besides Cher. I hate that Simon says he wanted this series to be "current" is not current don't know to sing or even have a good tone to their voice. Katie was just bad. Her voice is grating.

I don't want to sound like everyone else but I f***ing love Cher! :(

She's the only one whose album I'd actually buy (just like I've bought her rendition of 'Just Be Good to Me'!)

Mary's performance was f***ing amazing tonight.

Apart from that, I was't really blown away by anyone...

When I heard they were going to sell the live performances, I never thought I'd be one of the suckers going for that...but I really LOVED that When Love Takes Over arrangement, so I've joined the mindless masses :(

I've just bought Aiden and Cher! :D The two contestants who I'd buy albums from.

Cher really isn't versatile. I just watched her performance back and the singing at the beginning of the song was DREADFUL. Yes, the girl can rap. But she isn't versatile enough to win and she most certainty does not have "The X Factor".

 

 

I missed the last hour :( Interesting to hear the One Direction sang the Darin cover/rework of Viva La Vida :o Despite the car crash tendencies, if they keep the song choices and song arrangements a bit different it will be a lot more interesting this year than usual!

First night nerves seemed to affect most of them in some way..............Aiden in particular - I got the feeling that the angst and intensity of his performance was unintentional - you only had to look at his face when the song finished before he heard the judges comments. He thought he`d blown it. I think he will prove to be a one trick pony and Danni is going to have to take him out of his comfort zone, like she did with Matt (who after a shaky start, totally pulled his song off) even thought the backing track was way too loud.
