I always thought If You Tolerate This would be the top choice, I'd say its their best known and for me definitely their best, and the other true classic they've done imo would be A Design For Life, and their most recent songs havent done that well, so people may not remember them

That's why I thought it was not an obvious answer even though Turin is only about 50 miles from the French border.

I thought it was just as well known that France bordered Italy. It's not got that much less of a border than Germany has....

The border with Germany is quite a bit longer. There's a border which goes basically North/South then further border of a similar length which goes East/West.
