October 31, 201014 yr I actually considered Kimbra as your entry. But as always you tend to be unpredictable, so your entry could've been a handful of the other songs as well.. I hit you with a double unpredictable whammy. I was so predictable....that I was unpredictable! :P I was hoping nobody who takes part in both contests would put 2 and 2 together...
October 31, 201014 yr Well, I really had no idea who sent Far East Movement if it wasn't Ojnoj, but seriously, Jonjo was charting 'White Flag' higher in his personal chart than the FEM song that features Keri Hilson?

Certainly nowhere near an album of the year contender but a solid if unremarkable debut I guess - it needs time to grow I think! That said, White Flag is a highlight, and my 2nd favourite song on the album after Like A G6.
October 31, 201014 yr No one guessed that I sent Anne G with Blah Blah :P A very good choice Jerick! Jeg skjønte nesten ingenting jeg nå! Jeg bare.. "hva i huleste er det han har valgt, liksom?!" :o :heehee: Edited October 31, 201014 yr by Freeze

Me too! :heehee: But yeah, I probably gave it too much thought, and made things even more complicated than it needed to be! :drama:
October 31, 201014 yr A very good choice Jerick! :heehee: A comment I saw from Harve: I'm laughing at Anne G so hard right now. She's not even THAT funny. She is not trying to be funny :P
October 31, 201014 yr Author Has Pavel EVER sent a Russian artist? Just sayin'... Yup I get the feeling Phil won't be giving 'Jaypork' any points this time round lol tbh I'm not massively bothered about how he performs as I just resorted to my age old habit of picking another song from an artist I'd sent before as I ran out of time to find a new one lol I wonder if Phil would actually give Rich the 18 points if he didn't know which song it was that he'd sent... :P Who said Rich got my 18points? And i would have given Zowie the same amount of points regardless.
October 31, 201014 yr The Ashton-Rontvia thing is so worn out now. It stopped being funny about a year and a half ago  I love I Don't See Ya and I didn't know that Phil sent it...coincidence or just once again incredibly similar music tastes? :P And looking at the entries that have made Tom (Kay)'s personal chart, it looks like I pretty much love exactly the same songs that he did - yet everything was completely anonymous but it proves the link between FSR Ashvania isn't a voting bloc, but just an incredibly similar taste in music.
October 31, 201014 yr Was it ever funny? Well it's brought up at least five times per contest so it must be to somebody  It's nice that even though we weren't able to converse via PM about our entries this month that we both still loved each others entries :D Now that the songs and artists have been revealed, most of my points went to near enough the same countries I always give them to - voting blocs/pacts or similar tastes in music?
October 31, 201014 yr TEAM ZARIF. Mine+Jonjo's tastes are similar, so when I saw Rich predict it was Jon's, I sniggered to myself. Interesting to see Zechonia DIDN'T send Linkin Park ;o

I think there has to be some sort of Psychic link between you two. Maybe you share the same brainwaves... :hmm: Are you two capable of finishing each other's sentences? :o Edited October 31, 201014 yr by Sabrewulf
October 31, 201014 yr  Actually, that was quite funny. I agree, that it's nothing more than similar music tastes. We do PM and chat quite often, but we didn't tell each other each other's entries, so I can assure you that wherever Zowie or Christina appear in my votes tomorrow, that it is completely unbiased, or at least only biased in that they're epic
November 1, 201014 yr Interesting to see Zechonia DIDN'T send Linkin Park ;o As I said, the "new" Linkin Park just sucks. :/ Well, they don't suck but this is sooo disappointing after they already did such epic albums like "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora".
November 1, 201014 yr 'White Flag' is amazing and better than 'Don't Look Now', which I too was considering sending, but 'White Flag' appealed to me more
November 1, 201014 yr without knowing who sent what I gave my 18 points to my most loved country (I gave him the maximum points 4 times), I gave points 4 out my top 5 country (Angelicland wasn't in this contest) and there was only 3 new countries on my scoreboard. So I don't think there are 'bloc votes' and because of this I can't see the point of BJUSC. Plus we lost so much fun I think. ^_^
November 1, 201014 yr I also appear to have given my big points to my normal favourite countries
November 1, 201014 yr I find it surprising that this is surprising to some people  I have NEVER voted for, bumped up or favoured any song I don't like purely because of the country responsible and I should hope nobody else ever has either. Whilst the anonymity is a nice quirk, I really don't think it makes the blindest bit of difference to the outcome. Will be interesting to see if the countries who are usually most successful turn out to be the most successful tonight. At least friendly voting can't be blamed if it turns out to be the case! The root problem with this contest has never been friendly voting (which I don't believe exists - or if it does then in unnoticably small quantities) but the fact that cheapness was running riot. What I do like from this change of format is the fact that I didn't know 95% of the songs pre-contest (it used to be more like 50/60% on super cheap months!), but the anonymity is not something I personally feel that we need to carry on. This is not unknown pleasures after all. In a nutshell - scrap the anonymity, keep the simple and easy to follow anti-cheap measures.
November 1, 201014 yr it's called unknown song contest and not unknown countries' contest. This means to me that we should send unknown songs but we don't have to hide who sent what. :)

I agree with scrapping the anonymity...it was a nice experiment but it does seem to have killed quite a bit of banter and discussion. OK this could well be down to people leading busier lives nowadays or the big gap between contests, but there is certainly more potential for discussion if we know who has entered what and I think, with the activity drying up, it should be encouraged as much as possible. The anti-cheap measures are fine and above all simple. I even think the method of confirmation used in this contest could be continued, whether out in the open or via PM. Simple first come first served worked in the first few contests, I don't see why it can't work now, without the need for voting on banlists, reservation etc. If we want to keep "flavour of the month" songs out of the contest then I propose that participants simply confirm by PM, which gives the opportunity for the mods to vote on any "questionable" entries, and then they can be officially confirmed by the host when they've been approved, without the anonymous aspect. Although for transparency's sake, I'd be in favour of having a list of any rejected entries posted at the end of confirmation. I have NEVER voted for, bumped up or favoured any song I don't like purely because of the country responsible and I should hope nobody else ever has either. As for the above quote, my response to that would simply be: not conciously anyways.
