How strange, just goes to show what a weird controlling creep the guy clearly was.

I always found it bizarre though that Mel had recorded (or possibly not in this case) a song with Ludacris who was a fairly big deal at the time and it literally went nowhere except as a teeny tiny snippet in the show!? Then the Australian record contract when she was on all those shows, went nowhere at all? It was all very weird.

It's Mel B's 50th birthday today! Happiest of birthdays to her 🥰

I've always just assumed she was controlled by him and those TV shows, judging slots, endorsements were easy money compared to music and that would be all he cared about.

I'm sure Mel would have loved to explore music more. Now it just isn't viable as those offers to do music just aren't there anymore.

SO, TELL US WHAT YOU WANT, WHAT YOU REALLY, REALLY WANT...

Pour Moi, a brand that spreads positivity, empowerment and encourages people to be themselves, collaborates with the embodiment of girl power itself: Mel B.

The Own Your Confidence campaign is dedicated to women celebrating women. Mel B and Pour Moi join forces with the shared belief that everybody deserves to feel confident no matter what shape, size or skin tone they may be.

Supporting women is at the core of everything Pour Moi does. Michael Thomson CEO and founder of Pour Moi says “We believe that everybody should feel confident and empowered to be unapologetically themselves. That’s why we couldn’t resist sharing this journey with Mel B. Charismatic, confident and a true inspiration to many women, Mel B embodies everything our Own Your Confidence campaign stands for. It was a no brainer to have her, and her family help us spread the feel your fabulous vibes!” Introducing ‘Mel B’ AKA ‘Scary Spice’, her daughter Phoenix Brown and mother Andrea Brown, the multi-generational Brown family are here to show you how to feel confident, comfortable and fabulous in whatever you’re wearing.

Mel B, along with Pour Moi, hand-selected a range of fabulous products across lingerie, swim and beachwear that will make you feel your most confident self. Mel B’s favourite confidence boosting pieces include the Paradiso, Cali, and Casablanca swimwear lines, alongside Pour Moi’s Constance, Logo and India Eyelash lingerie sets and showstopping Leopard Couture Padded Bustier, which emulates Mel’s Iconic Scary Spice look.

Speaking of the campaign, Mel B says “I love that Pour Moi’s philosophy is about feeling fabulous, feeling confident and celebrating women of all shapes, sizes and ages. It’s about being real, not being edited and not taking ourselves too seriously. I love that it was a collaborative experience – it was my idea to include my mum and my daughter at the shoot and we had so much fun!” I love their lingerie and swimwear and how it makes me feel. It means a lot to me that Pour Moi are making a donation to Women’s Aid to support the campaign.”

As part of the campaign Pour Moi and Mel B both agreed on no airbrushing on all campaign imagery. Pour Moi are also making a donation to Women’s Aid, of which Mel B and her daughter Phoenix are proud patrons.

OK I dont much care about this campaign but GOOD ON Andrea to be taking part too! She looks fab

Wow, that’s a stunning photoshoot! Mel and her mum and daughter all look great. The photos of Mel reminds me of when Geri had a clothing range for Next (such a far cry from the Geri of today lol).

It’s been years now but it still makes me happy that Mel and Andrea healed their relationship.

Can Mel B put her energies into a third solo album next please, thank you!

Throughout their hey day Mel B always stood out to me. I really thought she would be the biggest solo star of them all. What a shame that did not happen as she had so much potential.

Mel B had such an incredible run of singles initially! The album being what it was, really sank it together with the awful release strategy.

She was done wrong, although some of it is her own fault (by her own admission!).

I want you back and Word up were her only good songs. The rest of her stuff, well for me, was cheap and awful!
Two Spice Girls promoting Padam, get that Kylie love out there girls!

Two? Who's the other one?

I mean, was 'Word Up' not cheap and awful? That was like the ultimate misfire coming months after a #1 (I don't rate 'I Want You Back' in all honesty either, but it did the business for her as a debut)

'Feels So Good' dwarfs all of these easily! (although of course it's dated now)

Word Up is the best cover of any Spice release and definitely Spice Top 10! It is not cheap and awful in the slightest. In fact, it is even better than the original and Mel made it sound like her own.

The fact it went to #14 at the time was seen as a failure was stupid (although the lack of proper promo didnt help for sure!), where so many popstars didnt event break Top20 with the majority of their singles and were seen as a success.

Her run from I Want You Back, Word Up, Tell Me and Feels So Good is the strongest opening run of any of the solo Spices in terms of quality of music. Shame the rest of her output didnt match it or even got close to any of those songs.

And no, I dont think Hotter would have been successful either, definitely not as it is. It screams 'Excellent Album Track' but to be a single it needed to have a different mix and possibly a feature. Maybe with Sisqo since they worked together back then?

DAMN this made me want to listen to those tracks again :cheer:

Feels So Good should've easily been her first single - it sounds like a proper "big pop star" song from around that time. I could see why people would dislike Tell Me though; it is sort of tacky to sing blatantly about your ex like that (even if they're a no-good hustler). I like both songs though, but it does feel like a screw up not to just go for Feels So Good and Hotter as the one-two punch.
