Alisha's Attic - I Am I Feel was later used as the theme to some ITV show...

Sadly not a top 75 hit, but 'Living Legend' was the theme to one of the Roland Rat (BBC?) TV shows, and was released as a single from an LP of the same name. It had rather a Mel & Kim vibe (remember them?) - can you tell who produced it?:

Lightning Seeds - Marvellous was definitely used as a theme tune to some programme (I think a holiday programme?).

Moby - Lift Me Up (theme to ITV's F1 coverage from 2006-08).

That's Livin Alright by Joe Fagin was the end tune on Auf Wiedersehen Pet

Reached top 5 in the 80s

There was once a drama called "Too have and to hold" and the theme tune for that made it into the charts but i cant remember who sang it.

The only one I can think of that hasn't been said yet is

Paul Shane & The Yellowcoats - Hi De Hi theme peaked at #36 in 1981.

Mike Oldfield - Blue Peter (became the new BP theme tune in 1979)

Eric Clapton / Michael Kamen - Edge Of Darkness (Edge Of Darkness)

Johnny Pearson - Sleepy Shores (Owen MD)

Dido - Here With Me (Roswell)

Lynn Hamilton - On the Inside (Prisoner Cell Block H)

Green Day - The Simpsons Theme

#19 in 2007 (charted higher than their 'big comeback' Know Your Enemy, #21 last year )

Technically a cover of a theme song but still.

Wasn't that for the film and not the TV Series, though?

It was, but it's still a version of the Simpsons Theme.

Don't know if this counts because the show was made years after the song but Joan Osbourne - One of Us? it was used for Joan of Arcadia
