March 19, 201114 yr Surely he has to do much better than Leon & Joe & Steve :P Edited March 19, 201114 yr by Rob Summers
March 19, 201114 yr Matt has more to him than past male winners-he has a definite style of music and a bit of life experience. Poor Joe was pretty much suckered for being so young and wasn't too knowledgable about music-he was going to do anything Cowell asked. Cowell has been unable to sell male singers but I think Matt has the ability to do this himself, a bit like Olly Murs. And the proof is in the sales of the winner's single which are even higher than Leona's let alone the three flop winners.
March 19, 201114 yr Ya i agree, i think Matt stands a great chance of doing well as he seems to know alot about music itself plus the recent combined record eal that he isnt just going along with everything simon cowell wants, matt seems to have an in idea of the sound he wants and how he wants to progress with is career. I wish him well asi would love to see him do well and especially sell well with his album.
March 19, 201114 yr I'm 99.9% (well, you gotta have some doubt :P ) that Matt Cardle will be far more successful than Joe (far too theatrical), Leon (bum notes a plenty) and Steve (white Luther Vandross) combined. At least Shayne Ward did well for a few years before his popularity decreased. Lest we forget, Matt came top of the public votes on The X Factor every week from Week 2 (and he was 2nd in week 1 anyways) so he's already got public support. Matt is also the most unique and original of all the male winners we've had on The X Factor imo.

Matt is also the most unique and original of all the male winners we've had on The X Factor imo. Shayne sold over one million albums in the UK alone and his winner's single over one million copies. His popularity decreased because of the three year gap (thanks Syco) between his second and third album and Cowell insisting that his comeback single was a cover of Nikelback. Matt will do well if Cowell wants him to. There is nothing particularly unique or original about him, his songwriting so far consists of very average bland indie lite stuff. He's a good singer but then so were some of the other male winners - Joe and Shayne especially. It certainly will be an advantage if he can write his own songs for his album as that will give him some credibility. If he gets paired with some good songwriters and producers that will help. The fact that he has been signed to both Syco and Columbia will probably help as well. Syco on their own are fairly clueless, especially when it comes to male singers and what suits them. He is a bit dull though.
March 20, 201114 yr Author Matt will deffo be more sucsessful than Leon and Joe, probably Shayne as well. He'll be more credible I think, so will appeal to people who think XF is a load of $h!t as well as fans of the show who willed Matt along. Plus he's fitter than Leon, Joe and Shayne ever were imo!
March 20, 201114 yr Hands off Liam :smoke: He's mine :kink: He has potential to be much more successful than the other male winners, he has a superb voice too  It all depends on the songs and who he works with.
March 20, 201114 yr Author I doubt his music will be as great as Olly's  I'll keep Olly Regs don't worry! :kink:
March 20, 201114 yr I doubt his music will be as great as Olly's  I'll keep Olly Regs don't worry! :kink:  and I'll keep Matt :kink: It'll be hard to judge their music, I think Matt will have a totally different style to Olly.

I'm not a fan of the slightly podgy, receeding hair, heading towards thirty look myself. He wears so much make-up on stage. It was quite funny the way they tried to glam him up on X Factor to make him appear more sexy (fake tan and all). I can see him appealing to some middle aged ladies though. He comes acreoss as a bit lazy and self satisfied as well. I mean 28/29? and never had a proper job, living off his mum and dad. His voice is overrated as well, he gave some bad performances on X Factor. But we'll see - as I said if he gets Cowell's 100% support he'll do OK.
