I don't have a clue what could be #1 now, if it's not 'Commander', 'Promise This' or 'Teenage Dream' iirc. 'The Flood'?

The latest songs you've posted are all good. Nice to see Marina scrape top 10 in the albums  The other albums you posted are either unheard (Kelis, Nadine) or good but nothing special (Pixie, JDR). Apart from 'Pink Friday' which is bloody fantastic. Just missing out on the top 10 is excellent to say that you first heard it not too long ago :o

You won't like Kanye's album.

Can I have a reason why I wouldn't like it? You like it, and I'd say we have similar music taste

#08: Gabriella Cilmi · 'Ten'

http://i52.tinypic.com/sv03sg.png

1-1-2-1-1-2-4-8-3-4-5-11-5-3-5-x-4-6-2-8-7-8-9-12-14-x

Highlights: 'On A Mission', 'Defender', 'Robots'

Another sophomore album here and it's the sexy sounds of Gabriella Cilmi, who returned this year after the minor success of her debut album, 'Lessons To Be Learned', in 2008. 'On A Mission' was the lead single off the album and boy, what a lead single it was! It leaked in January of this year and gave us a great insight as to what we should expect on 'Ten'. Admittedly, the rest of the album isn't as good as 'On A Mission', but it is still a very good effort and a lot better than her debut! It's more mature than the previous album, too, showcasing Gabriella's stunning vocals on songs such as 'Defender'. The 80s pop influence works well on songs like 'On A Mission', aswell as subsequent single 'Hearts Don't Lie' and various others on the album.

#07: Cheryl Cole · 'Messy Little Raindrops'

http://i52.tinypic.com/2mhyhbl.png

1-1-2-2-5-5-7-6-

Highlights: 'The Flood', 'Promise This', 'Live Tonight' (ft. will.i.am)

Flop. Cheryl released her second studio album this year, including the #1 single 'Promise This'. Both inevitably reached #1 on my personal chart, including 'Promise This' boasting a (joint) record run at the top, with nine weeks to its name. Onto the album itself. It's a decent collection, but even me as a Cheryl loon can't boast this as the best of the year. It does hold some very good tracks though, namedly the ones above but also 'Hummingbird', 'Amnesia', 'Waiting' and 'Happy Tears'. Probably my only criticism would be that it does sound rushed and she probably should have waited a bit longer to develop her sound. Overrall though, I love it, so I can't complain too much and here it at as my seventh best of the year!

#06: Lady GaGa · 'The Fame Monster'

http://i51.tinypic.com/2dljayx.png

7-12-9-9-10-15-3-7-3-2-x-3-1-5-2-4-6-x-10-9-11-12-5-7-8-11-13-9-10-x-7-6-14-6-7-6-13-12-13-11-6-13-15-x

Highlights: 'Bad Romance', 'Paparazzi', 'Telephone' (ft. Beyoncé)

Lady GaGa's 2009 re-release of multi-platinum debut album 'The Fame' was always bound to be good. 'The Fame Monster' features the original 16-track album plus a second disc including eight brand new songs. It was released last November in its new form and was another album I only heard for the first time in 2010. 'The Fame Monster' is a massive step-up from 'The Fame', including more of her electro-pop as seen on the original release as well as multiple different styles shown throughout. The lead single, 'Bad Romance', is bound to go down as a classic in years to come, and although it's not my favourite song ever I do appreciate it and its lyrics. GaGa is due to release her second studio album entitled 'Born This Way' in the New Year, so it'll be interesting to see how her music has developed.

010 · Shakira Feat. Freshlyground · 'Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)' · 4-2-3-1-1-2-6-15-19-26-30-31-35-40-x

your time to shine, don't wait in line y vamos por todo

Shakira opens up the top ten with the Official World Cup song of 2010. 'Waka Waka' took a while to grow on me, but once it had, it became one of my Summer anthems! The African vibe to the song is infectous, which got the whole world dancing to it during this year's World Cup. It was unfortunate then that despite being a huge smash all over Europe, it vastly underperformed in the UK, reaching just #21. It hung around for a while though, despite England being kicked out of the competition and after the competition itself had finished. It's a brilliant song and Shakira's best of 2010 - she followed the song in September of this year with her first bilingual album 'Sale El Sol'. It's a very disappointing effort with only a couple of highlights. Its release has been cancelled in the UK and it's due to be released here in April or something next year.

009 · Alicia Keys · 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' · 15-12-11-14-13-17-11-13-25-30-31-x(5)-40-19-14-14-11-16-23-32-3-2-2-5-9-11-16-26-36-x

lonely, own me, nobody ever shut it down like you

The third single from Alicia Keys's fourth studio album 'The Element Of Freedom' charts at #9. 'Try Sleeping...' succeeded 'Doesn't Mean Anything' and 'Empire State Of Mind (Part II) Broken Down', following them both to chart in the UK top ten singles chart. This is a brilliant song and most people's highlight of the album. It highlights Alicia's haunting vocals throughout and the instruments used are just perfect, especially Alicia's piano playing. The song comes from one of the past year's greatest albums and (despite being the most commercial), I definitely think it's her best yet. The song was a huge hit in my chart, spending the most weeks out of any song this year - 26 non-consecutive weeks!

Laundry Service was surely Shakira's first billingual album? It had 5 or 6 Spanish tracks on it anyway :P

TSWABH took SO long to reach your top ten, I remember cheering when it finally did!

Shocked to see Cheryl's album only #7 on the EOY chart. I'm sure she'll still be #1 on the singles though!

008 · Timbaland Feat. Katy Perry · 'If We Ever Meet Again' · 18-14-10-8-4-6-7-14-1-4-5-6-11-16-21-25-31-34-34-39-x

baby girl, what's your sign? tell me yours, I'll tell you mine

Timbaland second single off the 'Shock Value II' collection ranks almost ninety places higher than the last! I first heard 'If We Ever Meet Again' last December, and as you can tell I loved it straight away. It's my favourite of Timbaland's singles, but once you listen to it (which I premuse most of you have) you'll tell why, two words: Katy Perry. This is Katy's second entry on my chart thus far and her contribution to this song is incredible. I'm not going to go on about how great the vocals are, because firstly Timbaland's aren't great and both of them have been heavily autotuned. I am going to say that it's a great pop song though, and also a brilliant dance song. I can't see much else for Timbaland's solo career in the future, but at least he'll die knowing he delivered the eighth best song of 2010.

#05: The Saturdays · 'Headlines'

http://i56.tinypic.com/2nsyq8g.png

2-1-2-2-2-3-3-5-1-2-5-8-12-8-13-x

Highlights: 'Ego', 'Higher', 'Karma'

Opening up the top five is The Saturdays with their 2010 "mini-album" (or they like to call it their second album, as once it had been re-released it included half the tracks off 'Wordshaker' anyway!). 'Headlines' was first released in August, featuring new single 'Missing You' aswell as singles 'Forever Is Over' and 'Ego' from their previous album. There was also a "remix" of another 'Wordshaker' song, this time 'One Shot'. So now we've got four tracks, and then there were four more brand new songs aswell on the EP. It is a very good collection of songs, with very slick production on the majority of them. I'd say overall it's a lot better than 'Chasing Light' and 'Wordshaker' too, the former two both being a bit patchy. Anyway, as I said it's a strong collection which showcases the group's diverse collection of songs and I actually think, looking back on it, it was quite a good release method! I look forward to their fourth album and hope it can top this one!

#04: Alicia Keys · 'The Element Of Freedom'

http://i51.tinypic.com/2llc5z7.png

5-15-x-2-3-6-2-4-8-7-15-9-11-9-8-14-15-5-10-14-9-13-9-3-1-4-8-8-6-10-12-13-x

Highlights: 'Doesn't Mean Anything', 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart', 'Put It In A Love Song' (ft. Beyoncé)

Alicia Keys's fourth studio album is coincidentally at #4! 'The Element Of Freedom' was released late into 2009, but I only heard it for the first time this year. As I said in 'Try Sleeping...''s post, it's my favourite of her four albums; each of which is better than the last. The main three singles chosen were the perfect choices. 'Doesn't Mean Anything' opened up the era, last November, where we saw Alicia perform the stunning ballad on The X Factor in a mash-up of itself, 'Empire State Of Mind (Part II) Broken Down)' and 'No One'. The song became a shock #1 in my personal chart and it remains one of my favourite songs of last year. 'The Element Of Freedom' showcases a stunning collection of R&B songs; ballads and up-tempo. The album's release was delayed due to Alicia wanting to record a song with Beyoncé Knowles; they delivered us the stunning 'Put It In A Love Song', which despite being a fan-favourite wasn't made a single. Swizz Beatz recently released a demo of a song by Alicia called 'Speechless', written about her newly born son and it is stunning. I look forward to hearing more of Alicia's music; whether in an album form or little demos that are floating about, for she is a true talent.

#03: Ke$ha · 'Animal'

http://i54.tinypic.com/2d7vady.png

1-1-1-2-1-1-1-3-5-9-3-6-6-6-10-3-7-7-10-15-15-11-10-14-11-11-x-9-13-13-14-15-15-x-8-4-6-9-9-15-

Highlights: 'TiK ToK', 'Take It Off', 'Blind'

And from a true talent to a true whore. Ke$ha released her debut album in January of this year and you must beblind if you can't see it's amazing. Anyway, 'Animal' is a brilliant album; full of electro-pop and pretty much all dance tracks. There are, however, a few ballads on 'Animal', including the beautiful 'Blind'. As much as I've loved all four singles so far, I do wish she'd released one of the ballads, to show people a different side to her "constant party" image. I'm hoping that the ballad release will come with the re-release, 'Cannibal', which is due to be released in the UK in January. 'The Harold Song' (from 'Cannibal') is another beautiful ballad, so if she just releases this one I'm sure she'll get a hit out of it aswell as people changing their perception of her. I'm hoping we'll get another studio album soon enough aswell, as 'Animal' is definitely an album that has set her a standard, which will be broken!

I don't have a clue what could be #1 now, if it's not 'Commander', 'Promise This' or 'Teenage Dream' iirc. 'The Flood'?

Can I have a reason why I wouldn't like it? You like it, and I'd say we have similar music taste

MUAHAHA.

Well the album's not to your taste, at all. I do actually like quite a bit of R&B/hip hop music; mostly mainstream, yes; but it's the same as I can't see you liking a Jay-Z song without Rihanna or Alicia Keys on the hook...

Teenage Dream is at #11 :P I reckon it will be 'Promise This'.

INTERESTING. Thankyou for reading.

Oh. Well I thought 'Sale El Sol' was, that's what everyone was saying around its release anyway. :P

Lmao, I know! :drama: It is a brilliant song though and it was challenging for my #1 for a week or so!

Well as I said in the post, it is a bit "shocking", but there were far better albums this year. :P We'll see who's the #1 single soon enough anyway! Thanks for reading! ^_^

///

Any speculation for the #1 album? Or the single even...? I'll complete the album top two tonight, but I'm not sure when the singles'll be done by.

Well the album's not to your taste, at all. I do actually like quite a bit of R&B/hip hop music; mostly mainstream, yes; but it's the same as I can't see you liking a Jay-Z song without Rihanna or Alicia Keys on the hook...

Fair enough, that bit about Jay-Z is probably true

Excellent to see Ke$ha so high, and I agree with what you said. I so wish she'd released 'Blind' to show everyone that she can do ballads as well.

If the top two albums are Ellie Goulding & Katy Perry (in either order), you heard it here first :kink: I don't think we've had either of them yet
I'm predictin a SHOCK #1 ALBUM for Pendulum.

#02: Katy Perry · 'Teenage Dream'

http://i54.tinypic.com/112a3pg.png

1-1-1-1-2-2-2-3-4-4-7-9-4-8-9-11-5-4-

Highlights: 'California Gurls' (ft. Snoop Dogg), 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), 'Firework'

Just pipped to the top spot (by someone who will currently remain unnamed), it's Katy Hudson-Brand with her second studio album under the stagename Katy Perry, 'Teenage Dream'! The album was one of my most anticipated comebacks/releases of the year, and Katy didn't disappoint me! The album has so far delivered three #1 singles on my personal chart (as well as the US Billboard Hot 100); two of which appear in my end of year top ten! The album itself also went to #1, with an incredible 13 weeks to-date inside my top five. Onto the album itself, it's a great pure-pop collection from Katy, complete with what made us love her in the first place two years ago! The catchy tunes are back ('California Gurls'), the tongue-in-cheek lyrics are back ('Peacock') and the beautiful lyrics are back ('Firework'). There is only one song that I constantly skip, 'Who Am I Living For?', but other than that it's a stellar collection. As much as I'd love for her to release an album every year or so, I'll happily wait for the next as I'd love a huge jump in sound that still has that Katy feel to it.

#01: Ellie Goulding · 'Bright Lights'

http://i51.tinypic.com/2qkqded.png

1-1-3-5-7-3-7-12-5-11-12-3-12-14-x-7-10-5-10-9-11-11-13-6-10-12-12-13-x-3-7-3-2-5-

Highlights: 'Under The Sheets', 'Starry Eyed', 'Lights'

And it's the one you've been waiting for! You may or may not have guessed by now that my favourite album of 2010 is of course Ellie Goulding's debut album, 'Lights', along with its re-release, 'Bright Lights'! I first heard of Ellie last November with the incredible 'Under The Sheets', which at first was underwhelming, but a year on it's stunning! I then heard 'Starry Eyed' in January of this year and it clicked immediately. I was looking forward to this album, but it wasn't my most anticipated of the year, so I'm glad it's exceeded expectations to become my top album of the year! The electro-pop style suits Ellie's voice perfectly, with the haunting vocals and inspiring lyrics throughout. The re-release, 'Bright Lights', came in November of this year and it's as great as the original. It features seven new songs, including the Elton John cover, 'Your Song'. Again, there's a nice electro-pop vibe going on throughout the album with more of Ellie's stunning vocals. 'Lights' (the song) is a brilliant track, with the new "mix" expressing its greatness, with added drums. Ellie is a brilliant artist and I can't wait to hear more of her in the future. A great songwriter and musician; she has defined my 2010.
