December 24, 201015 yr Oh no. :( I think Matt's going to win then. I have a feeling he will have sold a LOT today. There were so just many people shopping! :o Don't you think they might just have been doing last minute Xmas shopping, rather than braving the snow just to pay the rip-off price of £3.99 for Cardle's single? :P
December 24, 201015 yr £3.99 for 4 tracks (including First Time) is not bad at all. It's not just about the *number* of tracks, though.
December 24, 201015 yr i don't imagine Matt will only sell 20k downloads on Saturday after all it'll be the first day the iTunes gift card effect kicks in.
December 24, 201015 yr The Sound of 2011 shortlist has already been announced and she's on it. It's only the longlist though. She might become inelgible for the inevitible top three position she'll get and clearly doesn't need.
December 24, 201015 yr i don't imagine Matt will only sell 20k downloads on Saturday after all it'll be the first day the iTunes gift card effect kicks in. But the iTunes effect only really benefits older songs - ones that haven't had recent publicity to keep their sales up. Edited December 24, 201015 yr by vidcapper
December 24, 201015 yr But the iTunes effect only really benefits older songs - ones that haven't had recent publicity to keep their sales up. Maybe he will break the mould. And the shops are open again Boxing Day. Think he will make a third week at No 1 easily.
December 24, 201015 yr Maybe he will break the mould. Best save your wishful thinking for Santa. :P And the shops are open again Boxing Day. Think he will make a third week at No 1 easily. I don't doubt that - but I thought the issue here was whether he could sell enough to be YTD #1?
December 24, 201015 yr Best save your wishful thinking for Santa. :P I don't doubt that - but I thought the issue here was whether he could sell enough to be YTD #1? Was it ? I lost the plot 5 pages back lol

December 24, 201015 yr Hopefully Slade and Chris Rea can sneak in by Sunday to give us 6 Xmas songs in the top 40 :D
December 24, 201015 yr Author I'm surprised we got an update for today, we didn't get an update last year for Christmas Eve.
December 24, 201015 yr Top 15 12 P!nk Annie Lennox 14 Script So where is Annie Lennox then? :kink: P!nk is holding up well, I know I am getting it tomorrow as my Mum got me to help wrap it
December 24, 201015 yr Don't you think they might just have been doing last minute Xmas shopping, rather than braving the snow just to pay the rip-off price of £3.99 for Cardle's single? :P Well, I highly doubt people were going out to buy When We Collide, but I think, since millions of people saw it yesterday, some of them might've just thought "Oh, may aswell buy it". And is it likely that Wizzard (I keep thinking of Riverside when I say Wizzard) and 2(?) other songs will climb during the weekend and knock Eminem out of the top 40? I'd be especially gutted for Rihanna. She deserves to have more representation in the charts. Edited December 24, 201015 yr by Eric_Blob
December 24, 201015 yr Given The Pogues are top 15 without the 2 highest sales days for Christmas songs (the 24th and the 25th), I wonder if it's possible they could match or even beat the #12 position they reached last year and the year before? :o
December 24, 201015 yr Wizzard top 40! :cheer: probably my second favourite Christmas song after The Pogues, who I think could match or even better their 2009 peak :D
