Katy Perry. Lady GaGa, obviously! Although I'm really interested in Rihanna at the moment, 'Loud' is just  .

Why do so many people call her GaGa, by the way, instead of Gaga? (upper case vs. lower case)

It's the latter. Check the 'Paparazzi' and 'Telephone' artwork, plus she also writes it like that herself on her Twitter :(

PEDANTIC, I know, but it's always annoyed me. Carry on looning.

Rihanna by far. She is exactly what a popstar should be.

'Rated R' was completely different to anything she'd released before...a huge gamble in the music industry, especially after the massive success of 'Good Girl Gone Bad'. Even though that album wasn't as successful as GGGB, there's no denying that she became even more of a star with its release. I'd say at the moment she's the most powerful popstar around.

Katy Perry I find to be very hit-and-miss (especially 'One of the Boys', which was largely dreadful apart from the singles) and GaGa is trying too hard to be quirky. Surely it's only a matter of time before the public get bored of her trying to do something so 'out-there'?!

This post sums up my thoughts exactly.

Although I did like some other songs on 'One Of The Boys' tbh .

That's how it was written officially when she was first around, so to me it is the correct way of writing it as I've got used to that.

Fair enough. People are free to write it however they want of course, but I did find it strange that GaGa was used more than Gaga in this thread when pretty much every official source (website, Twitter, artwork, Facebook, YouTube channel etc.) all write it as Gaga...

Katy Perry shoots fireworks from her tits though!
GaGa did a similar thing first...

:kink:

(I'm sure someone did it before GaGa too :heehee:)

But anyway, back on track for me it's...

01. Rihanna

---HUMONGOUS GAP---

02. Lady GaGa

03. Katy Perry

I really, really like GaGa and the Perry, but they've become over played for me. Rihanna, no matter how much exposure she gets, I don't tend to go off of her as quick. Plus, 'Loud' is a better and stronger album than 'The Fame Monster' or 'Teenage Dream' imo. (Although GaGa's 'Dance In The Dark' probably $h!ts over everything that's related to this topic...). Also Rihanna is getting better and better with each era.

Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl, Hot N Cold, Waking Up In Vegas, Firework are ALL cracking singles. One Of The Boys was an AMAZING album. California Gurls/Teenage Dream weren't quite up to the standard that I was used to of Ms Perry so the latest album I haven't checked out... YET.

Lady GaGa - Every single single of hers I have loved. ENOUGH SAID. Until we speak about the album that is...

Rihanna - To some degree I love her. To another I find her very hit and miss. I loved everything apart from the monstrosity that was If It's Lovin' That You Want up until Take A Bow... (though I wasn't too fussed about Hate That I Love You...) Then she went hit n miss for me. :( Disturbia, Russian Roulette, Hard, Only Girl ALL great. Take A Bow, Rude Boy, Te Amo, What's My Name? Not so much... :/ I'm not counting Love The Way You Lie cause it's only her singing on the chorus and If I Never See Your Face Again was brilliant...but I class it as Maroon 5's song...

Based on that... I'll go for Katy Perry because at least I LOVED One Of The Boys! Though they are all practically even IMO and trounce all over Beyonce and Britney!

Rihanna got my vote

Lady gaga has only done one era and still has a long way off to show us more what she can offer

Katy is just a popstar and that's that. Nothing special about her. She's likeable though

Rihanna may not be responsible for the majority of her signiture hits like Katy perry and Gaga are but she is very versatile, changes her hair and outfits a lot but doesn't do it to get publicity. I think she has an amazing back catalogue in just short 6 years and her peformances get stronger and stronger. She is an artist that grew on us as the years have gone by.

I prefer Rihanna's songs but Lady Gaga as a live performer is better by far.Rihanna has never had the strongest voice but she is an all round better pop star.Katy Perry is just vile and needs singing lessons, she really sounds like a dying cat when attempting to sing live.
Rihanna for me atm, with the other 2 a fair way behind her.
I'm sensing a trend...it would be interesting to see how this went after the release of Teenage Dream, or after the release of Born This Way.
Lady GaGa because she can actually sing live.

Love all 3 :) This really made me think, which DO I prefer?

Lady Gaga - The Fame, for me, was quite good - The singles were all good, and I really Liked most of the unreleased stuff - 'Starstruck', 'Boys, Boys, Boys', 'Brown Eyes' etc.. 'The Fame Monster', IMO, is average - Really hate 'Teeth' and 'So Happy I could Die' is weak... 'Monster' is okay, but the rest are quite good! Really hope 'Born This Way' is amazing! - heard a few songs (No way, second time around, Nothing on) and thought they were weak, so hope BTW is better.... Amazing voice, amazing live show too - Controversial too...

Rihanna - Rated R is a Masterpice!! All the released tracks were amazing and I loved 'Stupid in Love', 'G4L' and 'Fire Bomb'! It's not my usual cup of tea but I loved it!! 'Loud' was amazing too, but in a different way! I only got it at Xmas and I love most of the songs already! 'S&M', 'California King Bed' and 'Complicated are amazing as are all singles released so far....''Amazing voice, amazing live performances, a nit contreversial......

Katy Perry - 'One of the Boys' was pretty weak....All the singles were great, and I loved 'If you Can afford Me' and 'Mannequin' - Then, along came 'Teenage Dream' - a lot of her fans say ''It's the album of the year'' - It's not, not even close. But it's not bad, just okay. Along with all 3 singles released so far, I love 'Peacock', 'Last Friday Night', 'The One That Got Away' and I'm in LOOOOOOOOOVE with E.t - Quite a good album..''Amazing voice, amazing live shows and Very contreversial...

Is till can't Pick one --- Roght now, it'd probably be Rihanna (cuz I love 'What's My Name?' and she's doing well in the charts - But I'll probably love KP more when ET is released and Lady G more when BTW is released - Great forum!! :-D)

RIHANNA

I like Gaga and Perry too for sure!

Rihanna >>>>>>>>>>>>> Katy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GaGa

Rihanna has just produced so many amazing songs (DSTM, WMN?, Hard, RB, SUAD, WTC?, SOS, PDR) and she only has 3 average/bad songs (TAB, RR, OG(ITW)).

Only Katy's 2 lead singles are average/bad (and her Timbaland collab) but she only really has HNC, WUIV and Firework that come anywhere close to being as good as the above list.

GaGa has no songs which I'd say compete with the above, but she also has no particularly bad songs. Alejandro is probably her best but all her singles are a solid ~6.5/10 really.

Katy Perry has had a very good run of late, although "Firewwork" is a bit overrated so that knocks her down a bit. Rihanna has always been a bit patchy for me, her best tracks (barring "Umbrella", which is a pop masterpiece) have been looned over far too much but she's released enough good singles for me to keep an eye on her. GaGa has released the least music of the three and "The Fame" was patchy (even with the extra tracks) but she's made some of the best, most interesting pop music of the last couple of years ("Paparazzi" is actually underrated, bizarrely) and I'm genuinely looking forward to hearing her new stuff.

So GaGa, but not by much. In terms of their best singles:

Umbrella

Paparazzi

Hot 'n' Cold

Alejandro

Just Dance

Shut Up and Drive

Bad Romance

I Kissed A Girl

Poker Face

Teenage Dream

California Gurls

What's My Name?

They're actually all an 8 or 8.5/10 for me.
