I really can't see many people who weren't planning to buy HIAM anyway being persuaded to by Glee

Though I can already tell that when it shoots up iTunes as it's expected to people will attribute it to Glee anyway, so enjoy that I guess? There's no real way of proving either way whether it had any effect as it'll be climbing after (and during and before) Glee anyway

Yeah, that's true. I was similar with the X Factor actually. A song would climb, and if people on here didn't like the song, they'd claim it was "only because of the X Factor", and if people did like the song, they'd say "Oh, well it was climbing anyway". You're right, there's no way to tell really, and people will just use whatever happens to back up their ideal story of events.

In my opinion though, I think it could help. I can't really understand how it'd not help. It's a Britney Spears song, and a Britney Spears episode of Glee airs. It might not help as much as some people expect though.

Because people might not even know it is being released?

Example... I could watch glee tomorrow, see britney and think wow I forgot how many songs I liked, search her on itunes and see "hold it against me" and be like oh hmmm I didn't know this was released yet/wow, i've never heard that song before it must be new? I'll download it.

It's fairly obvious a programme watched by 1.5 million people will be influencial!

Will you please stop -ing at me?

I'm sure at least a good number of those people would see 'Hold It Against Me' and just assume it's an old album track they'd forgotten about and skip over it (and then download it later when they discovered it - they certainly wouldn't be discovering it through Glee as it's not even mentioned on the show)

The only way I can see Glee significantly affecting Britney's sales tomorrow/Tuesday is if there's advertising for Hold It Against Me during the ad breaks.

Anyway, hopefully the higher version of Traktor will overtake Like U Like soon (and go top 10) :D

wow, Aggro Santos looking for a second top 10 hit then- I'm a Celebrity does do wonders, plus Kimberley would officially have a better solo record than Nadine

I still haven't heard Rolling In The Deep but I honestly never thought I'd see her in the top 3 again  but it looks like BBC sound of 2008 has finally been proved right after all

I think Britney will get to around 2 on here tomorrow, I dunno, I just can't see it going to number 1- I could be wrong though, if her song is given heavy promotion during say the Glee ad breaks- tbh Glee could get a top 10 hit due to Britney being released, although obviously a standout performance

I really hope they do some type of commercial for HIAM within the show or after.

Coming Home  50 YEY !

I'd imagine they would, seeing as they specifically brought HIAM forward to be promoted by Glee. So they are going to try and capitalise on that as much as possible.

She has some TV planned this week :cheer:

First performance on Daybreak tomorrow I think.

The Adele song is OK, I've heard better- although I actually think Bruno will manage a second week

Whyyyy would they think it is an old album track? Look at Itunes around the world, there is a banner on the front pages for Britney and the track, people aren't that dense, why would they advertise an old album track on the front page of itunes?

Slowest climb EVER for Avril.
It will take a grenade to shift Bruno Mars off the top, sorry no pun intended :D

BRITNEY! :w00t:

That's honestly the best chance, otherwise I can see it staying there for 3 or 4 weeks! :o

I agree with everything you said!

Why would people think that "Hold It Against Me" is an album track is beyond me.
