January 14, 201114 yr Pioneer? Uh. Dubstep is blowing up (well, into the mainstream), if she didn't do it then someone else would have. Well really, the same kind of influences are all over the Cannibal EP. It's just like Tyler said though, it's the risks that Britney takes that has set her apart from the crowd, and she's done it again by having this as her first single. January 14, 201114 yr Well really, the same kind of influences are all over the Cannibal EP. Which would make sense seeing as Max Martin and Dr Luke have their paw marks all over that EP. When Dr Luke and Max Martin come together they really do create something incredible, not that they don't have their fair share of amazingness flying solo.
January 14, 201114 yr I think Britney is a pioneer for bringing stuff into the mainstream in a successful way. If you listen to her 'Britney' album there are a LOT of sounds that were not popular at the time. Her most experimental 'In The Zone' basically channneled middle eastern elements and mixed them with electronica and even acoustic elements. 'Blackout' is basically EVERYTHING that pop music tried to replicate that on the radio in 2008 and 2009 (Until Lady GaGa brought out the new hot thing with her material). Britney put alot of these huge producers on the map (Neptunes, Bloodshy&Avant, The Underdogs) I could go on. And please don't get this confused with me trying to say she is the FIRST to ever do it, I know she isn't. I'm referring to mainstream. I personally hope that the rest of the album is EVEN more experimental then HIAM... I want a level like ITZ and Blackout, which are my two favorite albums of all time. There's a difference in being a pop star who SETS trends on a worldwide scale (Britney, GaGa) and one who follows them. And I won't name those just to stay away from a useless argument. January 14, 201114 yr Seriously addicted to this song. The common consensus I have seeen is that people do not know what to make of it after the first listen but literally become obsessed with it after a few listens :D
January 14, 201114 yr shoshannastone shoshanna stone Retweet this if you love Britney's 'hold it against me'! The UK itunes release is now monday 17th Jan due to overwhelming demand! 10 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply

And I won't name those just to stay away from a useless argument. Fair enough about Britney, but Gaga is one of the followers, imo. This song is leagues better than, say Bad Romance. Bad Romance is a 1985 song, and Hold It Against Me is a 2012 song.

Blackout (well the singles from it anyway) is just horrible for me :( don't kill me Tyler In other news, Hold It Against Me is quite good. Probably a grower. GaGa is not a follower, she started a trend in pop music. HIAM is a crap, fun crap, lyrics suck big time, production is interesting, but does not come close to BR greatness.
January 14, 201114 yr Damn. I wanted Britney to get her first UK #1 in almost 7 years. She's up against Adele. Rolling In The Deep is going to be a monster. Come on Britney!

And by far the best thing GaGa has put out. Good as HIAM. I'm not sure yet... too soon to judge. Don't worry Bray I won't yell things such as "BLASPHEMY" at you.

There's so many people like you in the world unfortunately. I just can't see anything interesting about Bad Romance, unfortunately. It's just a below average pop song in my opinion. I can't think of anything else to say about it really. :( There's a few synths in it which sound a bit like that noise when cars drive past you really fast, which I really like, but that's about it... But if you think Bad Romance is perfect, fine by you. I've probably spoken to hundreds of people that share your opinion, but maybe you should listen to more 80's pop music. There's plenty of "better than perfect" songs out there, in my opinion. :)
January 14, 201114 yr Why is this being released on Monday? This should be out on Sunday to get the full 7 day advantage.
January 14, 201114 yr I'm wondering if she could actually beat Adele to #1. It obviously hasn't had chance for much promo, but as other iTunes charts prove, it doesn't need it. The Britney episode of Glee next week should help as well.

January 14, 201114 yr Hate them to release it in the hardest week of the year and not on a quite one like it supposed to... and plus to all this - on Monday! Y Y Y ?! Maybe in the next weeks with the right promo and the video next month :(((
January 14, 201114 yr Author Bad Romance is biggest crap ever recorded imo. They definitely need to put a commercial of HIAM when the Glee premiered!
