Unless she's stark naked in the video :naughty: , I don't think she's going to turn this around.
She will turn it around. Naked or not. Britney's established enough to receive a pretty big "video effect" sort of boost. (PS. iTunes related, she's up a whopping two places :kink: - #19)

I've now finally heard 'Price Tag', and I find it more tolerable than DILAD, apart from the bit between about 1:50 & 2:20, for the same reason I only liked certain parts of 'Airplanes'... ;)

I'm surprised at the way her sales are going, though - normally a #1 pulls out a big initial lead, then gets reeled in later in the week - but JJ's lead just seems to keep increasing...

I think JJ's is going to be the 4 weeker plus at #1, its long overdue, as I said earlier in another thread topic, she will have the Brits effect and all the promo for the Brit Awards is filtering thru on TV now, and the album is out on the 28 Feb now, a month early :o I can't see Tinchy/Chris Brown at #1 next week if JJ's sales are over 100k plus.

From Jessie's Facebook:

Jessie J HQ: Newsflash! Due to phenomenal demand, we are going to let you have Jessie J's debut album a month early!! Yesss! You'll be able to bag a copy as of Monday 28th Feb! Jessie is currently approving final mixes and racing to get the album done: "I'm in a whirlwind right now I'm loving every minute of it. Can't wait for the world to hear the album that I've been working on for the last six years. Bring it on!”

I think most artists care about their own country the most, regardless of how little or big they are. Even Adele said on Newsbeat the other day that nothing compares to doing well in your own country, and that's someone who has actually tasted success over in the US. Although someone like Natasha Bedingfield seems to prefer US success, giving how she's totally f***ed off and left us now. I guess every country has its runts of the litter.

I do think British artists could benefit from this more though regardless, as they're more likely to try to do anything to get their releases up (maybe like releasing the video at the same time as Jessie J did), whilst American acts will just release it at the same time as they do on US iTunes and do nothing apart from that. Plus in America they never release their singles on Sundays it seems, but more in the middle of the week or Monday/Tuesday so obviously they'll lose sales there. Although maybe they'll start releasing their singles on Sunday here once this scheme really sets into place, but right now most American early releases seem to be all over the week! Whereas British acts will probably wisely release on the Sunday to get the full sales week advantage.

So we could still potentially see the same kind of trend we saw in 2010 with front-loaded British #1s, perhaps, and then American long-runners. I'm just speculating though, to be fair, but it makes sense to me.

I think new releases in the US have always been on a Tuesday; hence why most American acts release their single world-wide on that day, irrespective of whether other territories have the same release dates/chart weeks.

I can't ever see the case where they switch that around and the release is Sunday world-wide, as they'd be more focused on getting the largest sales possible (from America), and also, the American chart sales week runs from Monday-Sunday so releasing on a Sunday would lose them a day of initial sales in the first full chart week in a sense.

I think maybe a hybrid of release US Tuesday and then UK the following Sunday might work, but even then the risk of UK piracy between Tuesday-Sunday is still there.

The #1's that you've tracked more than likely will have got to #1 on iTunes by the end of Sunday - IIRC Jessie didn't do this and was still #2 on Tuesday morning. That's why her sales haven't started to tail off yet as other iTunes #1's would have done by now - her effect is probably the same, just delayed a couple of days / a day and a half due to her not hitting the #1 spot until Tuesday morning-ish.

I think JJ's is going to be the 4 weeker plus at #1

I think she could certainly get 2 weeks, but GaGa is releasing on February 13th, and it will be massively hyped, so she could deny Jessie a 3rd week. Then again, Bad Romance didn't debut at #1...

I seriously doubt Jessie J will get more than 2 weeks.

Enrique, David Guetta and Dr Dre all climbing :D

I Gotta Feeling back into the top 100 at #98 :cheer:

There's quite a big gap between them and Taio. I'm sure they'll catch up with him sometime, but it might take a day or two. They are rising though, which is good.

Let's hope the new single by Kanye West misses the chart, I hate to credit all the artists on it. :(

That would be a nightmare to do if it reached the top 40

Britney Spears didn't debut at number 1, neither will Lady GaGa. "Price Tag" will get at least 3 weeks at the top, maybe a fourth

I can still see Chipmunk getting a week next week, but Jessie returning for 2 afterwards.

Chipmunk hasn't a chance at number 1, it will do top 5 at best.

AFAIA it's 'officially' credited to just Kanye.

Just because Britney didn't doesn't mean nobody can. Jessie J will do it this week, it's not impossible. Besides, GaGa has huge hype, and a Grammy performance, and a massive fanbase.

Nevertheless, I could be completely wrong. I guess we won't know until its released.

I think Champion will get top 5, behind Jessie J, Bruno Mars & Enrique Iglesias next week.
