The BEPs new album isn't flopping, it's sold almost 300k. That's good, no matter who it is. Sure, that's pretty crappy for BEP standards. But, both are pretty much the biggest juggernauts in music atm. 2009 showed that. 5 of the top 10 year end songs were them....domination.

BEPs new album is selling relatively poorly for their standards because they rushed it and released way too early.

Their next album should bring back to their HUGE sales standards. Another million seller if they wait a year or two.

Lady Gaga, BEPs >>>> everybody else tbh.

I Gotta Feeling = 1,140k

MMH = 775k

BBP = 680k

The Time = 530k

Poker Face = 1,023k

Bad Romance = 890k

JD = 830k

Telephone = 600k?

Good stuff.

In terms of worldwide success? Black Eyed Peas' album is a big flop, This Time didn't did HALF as well as expected and they had to cancel plans of a stadium tour due to lack of interest (the only place they're playing stadium is Paris 'cause France is the only market where they still legit huge).

Worldwide, I can name a few artists that are bigger than Black Eyed Peas. Eminem, for example, is bigger. Even Justin Bieber is currently a bigger franchise.

And anyway, the Black Eyed Peas are big hit-makers. But they doesn't have a big stable fanbase AT ALL. Britney Spears, even when she doesn't have a big hit, is still able to have huge first week sales. The Black Eyed Peas' first week sales are PATHETIC. And I know lasting sales are more important but first week sales are where we measure how truly big an artist fanbase is (especially worldwide. The UK is one of the very few places where this isn't necessarily true). That's why Eminem, Britney and Gaga are considered the biggest acts worldwide.

Well to be fair there is no way of measuring someone's fanbase as we cant ask every single individual in the world, but I would say it definitely is.

Okay, well judging by everyday life. :lol: Rihanna does have a lot of fans, but it's not to the same extent as Lady Gaga, where it's almost like she's the leader of a cult at times. I think Rihanna is a bit more in the Taio Cruz direction. She's successful, but people are more fans of Rihanna's songs, than of Rihanna herself. Lady Gaga is like some media icon, in the news all the time for whatever reason, and so on. Rihanna is just a typical pop star to be honest, involved in a minor scandel every few months. :lol:

The long-awaited return!

GAGA! :wub: Shocked Jessie has overtaken Champion! :o
I'm afraid i don't have the answer! I'm a very optimistic person, so i would say yes! There have to be another 80k monsters that will buy the song before Sunday!

It's not gonna happen. Remember the iTunes #1 is far easier to take at this time of the week than any other. Not trying to diminish Gaga's achievement, as it's amazing, but it's very unlikely she's sold more than ~10k so far (and probably a bit less, although that number is rising rapidly, of course).

Then when you think that her fanbase will have downloaded it straight away, then it seems highly unlikely that it can sell 70k+ more for the rest of today and tomorrow. It does look like it will go top 10 though, indeed, which is slightly better than I expected but I don't mind being proved wrong.

If The Time didn't do half as well as they expected, then does that mean they were expecting it to sell like 1,200,000 and outsell I Gotta Feeling? :lol:

I'm extremely surprised at how low it is in OZ and NZ at the moment compared to the rest of the world :o Was it released later in those 2 territories or what?

You can tell someone is massive when even Japan (the world's most xenophobic music market) is getting involved.

Sunday's chart will be very interesting to see where Lady GaGa enters

Well that is by far one of the strangest comparisons i have ever seen :lol: That is no way correct, Taio doesnt sell albums, Rihanna..does. 1mill in UK already alone, and obv done well WW too.

Also second bit, highly untrue, Rihanna has a HUGE fanbase, clearly seen by her sales, and facebook fans, followers on twitter, tours etc etc, Rihanna is a fashion icon, and trend-setter.

Rihanna typical popstar? I'm surprised, even you, eric blob, arent aware of rihanna's huge fanbase and media precense for someone who follows the music scene like you do..

Well, Lady Gaga has been having decent success in Japan for a while now. Katy Perry and Justin Bieber are popular there too. Infact, I think California Gurls and Baby charted in Japan's year-end top 20 last year, which is pretty amazing when, as you said, their music scene is so cut off from the rest of the world!

For the record, Rihanna>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Lady Gaga, imo (based on the music they released), but Lady Gaga has accumulated a fanbase over double the size of Rihanna's in a quarter of the time. I know Only Girl will sell more than Bad Romance, and so on, but I think Only Girl is selling that much simply because it's a great song. That's why I made the Taio Cruz comparison. I've NEVER met a Taio Cruz fan in my life (although I'm sure some exist), but he manages to have massive hits from time to time, like with Dynamite, most recently. I think Dynamite was so massive because people were fans of the song, rather than fans of Taio.

I'd say Rihanna has a lot more casual fans, who like her music but wouldn't go to her concerts etc. Whereas you either love or hate GaGa.

Lady Gaga's pop bars are going to stretch even further, they might go off the scale, and the put the rest in the shade.

I think it was added everywhere at the same time, 2pm UK Time. So thats Midnight Friday Night in Australia? :unsure: If so, its only 6am Saturday Morning there, hopefully it'll climb tomorrow (today). :wacko: :lol:

Isn't it only just turned morning in Oz/NZ? If so, it was released in the middle of the night, so its no surprise really its still so low.

Where did Katy Perry 'I Kissed A Girl' enter when she was released on a Friday? Was it #4? If so, how much did she sell in that week? :unsure:

OK. Here's how i see it! Over 8 millions followers on Twitter and almost 30 millions fans on Facebook! Only the promo that she will get from those sites is huge! And still from all those millions, i think at least some thousands are from UK....blah blah. Nothing can stop my optimism now :dance:
