Love me some 'Judas' :music: The first few times I heard it, it was true bliss. Can't believe it's been five years already!

I really like the video but still have issues with the song like I think it's always sounded very dated? And not as strong as it should be, it falls flat for me. Definitely weaker than the singles that came before and after it, but it did grow with repeat listens and I guess I accept it for what it is these days when at the time I saw it as a massive disappointment.

Absolutely.

It is weak cheesy flat and Steps-lite.

The video is definitely one of the best she's done (probably in my top 3 videos from her). The song I like but don't LOVE and have never been really really invested in it like 90% of her other singles. I do find in such a strong back catalogue it does get swallowed up a fair bit, but as others have said it's so fun and always a RIOT whenever I play it. I always actually forget how good a song it is until i'm actually listening to it.

It should not have been the second single by any means. The 'Born This Way' album is filled to the brim with huge songs, this was not the right choice in any way. I think it should have remained a STRONG album track (with a video :kink:).

You are absolutely reet tbh!

SHe had such a huuge choice for second single - Marry The Night, Edge of Glory!!, Sheisse, that this album track was not needed as a single. It sounded and looked reductive, lookedlike she was chasing controversy and chasing Madonna, and after Born This Way/ Express Yoruself trends on Twitter and youtube mash-ups, that was the LAST thing she needed, rather than doubling down on it.

She coulda done a video for fans and had it like an insta-grat, but it shouldn't have been a single.

I remember liking the chorus and hating the verses. 5 years on I dont mind the song, its fun, but it got completely overshadowed by the far superior Edge Of Glory for me.
Judas is the ONLY single from Born This Way I love. Although I forget how much I like The Edge Of Glory until I hear it.
I absolutely hate the chorus, it's just too cheesy for its own good. The verses and video are excellent though and save it from being a write off.

I actually really loved this song at the time and still do now, but felt that it was released far too soon, I think 'Marry The Night' should have followed 'BTW', and then 'TEOG' and then release this as the 4th single.

But anyway love it, such a catchy chorus and an interesting and brilliant video.

I never liked Judas and i still dont like it. I understand many fans love it but it killed the album campaign in my view and was extremely weak to be chosen as such an early single.

Preach, Pippa!

Judas is one of GaGa's best singles in my opinion - far superior to any single from The Fame/Monster (bar Alejandro which is just as great). The video is just as amazing. I don't see how Judas could kill an album campaign that was still going pretty strong 6 months after it was released.

Bad Romance.

Just Dance.

Poker Face.

Paparazi.

Alejandro.

Born This Way.

All shet on Judas.

Okay, we get it, you don't like the song. Do you have to jump on everyone who posts positively about it like some rabid dog?

Bad Romance is more hype than substance. I've never believed it to be as great as a lot of GaGa fans claim it to be.

Just Dance is good but it's basically just a party song.

Poker Face is also overrated.

Paparazzi is great but nothing special.

Alejandro is just as amazing as Judas.

Born This Way tries way too hard to be a gay anthem and it just comes off as desperate and exploitative as a result.

(don't shoot me)

I don't see how Judas could kill an album campaign that was still going pretty strong 6 months after it was released.

I mean, killing the campaign is a push but it at the very least gave it a fairly decent injury.

Okay that's more of a fair claim. I think 'Judas' got a backlash for sounding too much like 'Bad Romance' if I remember correctly. It is also not the most radio-friendly pop song since the melody in the verses is a bit odd. The whole song is a bit odd to be honest... but in a good way.

Edited by Scene

I always thought it was a way better song than 'Born This Way', it is odd and a bit messy but I do really like it... the chorus could be better agreed.

I don't know where I'd rank it in her singles, not in the top half probably.

This was an absolute stormer from her! It's hard to believe I felt underwhelmed on first listen. I just felt that the verses and chorus didn't quite flow very well, and that the chorus always felt like a comedown from the verses. HOWEVER, soon it all clicked with me and it remains one of my favourite Gaga singles.

It's always such an instantly incredible experience when listening to it. That massive production in particular sweeps me off my feet every time. The video was excellent as well. Can't believe this was 5 years ago!
