Glad to see BTW stabilise. Radio interviews and video should help next week :)

Happy to see Adele at #1 (combined). I notice RITD is #1 on the World iTunes PopBars; it's amazing to see her have this sort of success.

Born This Way video is being released on Monday, and she is doing interviews on UK radio stations on Monday too, so should help with its sales.

Also she is releasing a SECOND music video for Born This Way soon, on itunes, the profits of which go to charity. the star that keeps on giving :)

She's also going to release a stripped down version of 'Born This Way', where the profits from that will also go to charity. :D

^ I'm not sure, but I read somewhere that there's a day version and a night version of the video for Who's That Chick?

That song is terrific btw!!!! I haven't been able to stop listening to it for months now!

Yeah, I've seen both. There were demos for both before they got 'properly made' and released. I prefer the day version. It's currently at #5 in my personal chart after 15 weeks, and 14 of those have been in the top 10!

Good to see Yeah 3x has had good longevity, considering songs like Higher, Tonight I'm F****n' You etc have all crack the top ten around the same time but all left in a hurry, I want to see Grenade leave the top ten, it seems like it's been in the charts forever now.

And 'Just The Way You Are' to leave the Top40.

That's still in the charts too :o I don't mind Bruno but come on, some songs need to retire when the months go on, otherwise it just gets boring

^ Well, I don't mind too much if songs hang around for ages (as long as it's not at #1), if they're actually good!!

Like I Gotta Feeling and Love the Way You Lie I could cope with, because I actually really like those songs, and they didn't get boring after 6 months in the chart (and to be honest, I'm beginning to think I'll never ever get bored of them). Although even last month, when Love the Way You Lie was still top 40, I was saying to myself "Okay, I think it's time for it to leave now". It's just so weird when you have summer smashes like those two songs, and they're still in the top 40 after Christmas! It'd be like if Your Song was still in the top 40 when schools break up for the summer holidays!

But with Grenade, etc. it's not like I even loved them at one point. I found them boring from the get-go. :( Clearly there must be people out there who love these songs though!

But rolling in the deep is only 3 on the world pop bars behind jlo and gaga

...but YOU'RE the one saying it's underperforming, not them? If you didn't have those expectations, why are you claiming it's underperforming even though you don't think it is, just because a bunch of deluded GaGa fans (a minority) think it is?

I think it's more due to Clare's lack of exposure and Bieber's target audience being more likely to download than Clare's. Clare is ahead in the midweeks and is extremely unlikely to be overtaken by Bieber before the end of the week.

You shouldn't blame the entire country, you should blame Bieber's legions of annoying fans. They should be blamed for everything.

 its like a speech by colonnel gadaffi!!

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps he was looking at the artist rankings, rather than the song rankings?

Well, all the top 40 radio stations will start playing it soon. They don't have anything against Adele, despite what it may seem. Infact, I can even see it getting a few spins on the urban radio stations tbh.

sometimes its hard to think this about the us charts because it all seems so insular (if thats possible in a country as big as america).most foreign acts find it really hard to do well in their charts - even classic songs that have done well the world over find it hard if they arent by an american artist - eg snow patrols biggest hits only doing well when they are played on grays anatomy - then all of a sudden they jump on the band as if they cant believe they exist (they probably think the only irish act ever were u2)!!and yet we have to put up with a lot of crap us music(and alot of great stuff) in our charts.

its to do with money and us cultural hegemoney i suppose!!

Champion is holding up quite well, still in the top 5 on iTunes nearly 3 weeks after release - something tells me it wouldn't have been a non-#1 had it got there anyway. This year is looking promising so far in terms of not having any non-#1s, nine weeks in and all the #1s have been genuinely big hits (aside from maybe Ke$ha but that seems to now be holding up fairly well in the top 20 so it could rack up a decent sales total in time)

Who's That Chick?'s longevity is incredible, it's still at #13 after three full months in the top 20 :o

whos that chick has had such longevity because the videos airplay is only peaking now believe it or not so it has severly stalled its already slow fall!!

Good point, if you love a song, it doesn't really bother you that much if it sticks around forever, I Got A Feeling, I also liked so I never got sick of hearing it unlike Grenade, which I too also find to be boring but obviously there's gonna be people who don't feel that way about the song.

Price Tag should get a small boost as she is performing it on Graham Norton in around half an hour :D

Sorry guys, was a typo!! I'm an idiot for not noticing it :P

To be honest, while I usually completely disagree with the use of airplay in the BBHot100, I do think it is better than having 1 or 2 week #1s *all* the time. Only the really uber-popular songs can debut at #1 and I think it adds a bit more excitement to the chart.

but surely if they debut at no1 they do because they are popular and people are actually purchasing the song!!

I have noticed debuts at #1 are happening more often now though. Like every lead single that Britney Spears and Eminem release in the US will go to #1 the way things are going.

But yes, it's pretty amazing when it happens there. Not only because of the airplay factor, but also because, unlike the UK, the majority of songs are released for download in the US with very little promotion beforehand.

Also, British artists CAN do well in the US! Look at Taio Cruz. I was in the US in the summer. Taio was so popular, it was actually unbelievale. Just like being there, Dynamite and Break Your Heart were played all the time. And US seems to be more involved in the culture aswell. Like they always had music on really, really load in all the shopping centres, and in restaurants and stuff. And it wasn't like elevator music, it was current chart music, so Taio Cruz was literally everywhere! I kept going on about how he was English, and most of the people there seemed shocked to find that out. I guess they all naturally presume he's American, until they discover otherwize (i.e. they hear him speak ).
