LOL at Britney!!!

A #8 album for most artists would be a success, but not if you're Britney Spears, promotion or no promotion. This is clearly going to be her lowest-selling album ever here by some margin - I'd be surprised if it hits 100K.

Britney is flopping hard in the UK - compared to what she used to be. There is no doubt IMO. She would do better if she got more TV/Radio support, but er singles have not been very good. i think the UK is bored of her now anyway.

Last time Britney had the X Factor effect with her last album, that didn't do nothing for her album, this time there is no promotion whatsoever, FF wasn't going to break new grounds this time at all, especially when releasing Mother's Day weekend. Who is going to buy a Britney album for their mums.

Britney deserves flop sales. Her music is cringing and atrocious. Loved her when she first broke through.

Well done to J-Lo getting her third number one. The females seem to be dominating the singles charts at the moment. Over the past few weeks Ke$ha, Jessie J, Adele and Nicole Scherzinger hitting the top, now let the female dominance continue!

I guess she's the ultimate Mother's Day gift for people who really hate their mothers.

 

Agreed...... someone really ought to tell her that her voice, which was absolutely brilliant in the day, well.... it's over, love.... voice = gone.... and the reality is, without Dave Sttewart, you have no songs.

 

Then again, how cruel can a child be to give their mother a Mary frickin Byrne album?!?!? Number 6?!? Whaaat? Perhaps cruise-ship cabaret / northern workingmen's club 'turns' are in and I've missed it? Shocked it's gone in above Radiohead and that Spears woman....

Like 99% of their output..... awful awful band - and the only band I've seen at Glastonbury where literally the whole crowd boo'ed them because they were so teeth-grindingly terrible live.

I'm sure all the Britney haters can't wait for her album to plummet next week however several of her albums started off badly before recovering nicely...

 

2001: Britney: 4-20-36-47... [Returned to the Top 10 five months later]

 

2003: In The Zone: 14-37-51-59... [Went onto spend a further 9 weeks in the Top 20 and reached a new peak of #13 eight months after release]

 

2007: Blackout: 2-13-36-50... [Returned to the Top 20 on 2 occasions]

Yep the five #1 album's they have had all have entered at #1 - However it's not so bad entering at #7 in Mother's Day week with an album that has been available for download via their website for ages, I know their last album 'In Rainbows' had been available to download prior to being released and getting to #1 however it was released in the 2nd week of January so was almost certain of getting the top spot!

It's catchy, great beat, fantastic lyrics, and I think it samples 3 different songs, not a feat which many songs can boast. It has also had an immense amount of cultural impact. On probably a weekly basis a girl talks to me and refers to them as her "lady lumps", and this is like 6 years after the song came out.

 

Don't Phunk With my Heart?! Dreadful?! :blink: Yeah, maybe in OPPOSITE WORLD. That is one amazing compositions of music that I've ever heard. I love how the Black Eyed Peas brought some asian influenced music into the charts. Not only creative, daring, but also inventive. Not everyday do we hear a song, and go "Wow".

 

Oh, and let's not get me started on The Time (it's just gone past mid-night). They definitely challenged themselves here. To be honest, I think will.i.am was just realizing at this point, that he's simply too good a producer. He wanted to stretch himself, challenge himself. He wanted to get the cheesiest song he could think of, and, with a little bit of help from deadmau5, turn it into something LEGIT! And what a success it was. He doesn't care about the sales anymore. He's past caring about that, he's proven himself. The Time was just a piece of ART. That song broke conventional boundries. Yes, there was public outcry, from him murdering a "classic", etc, but I admire him for that. He knew how people would react, but he didn't care, he knew the track was dope, so he released it. I respect him from that.

 

Okay, YOU, and thousands of other people might think the BEPs are terrible live, but me, and MILLIONS of other people think they're great live. Let's see, they perform Meet Me Halfway on TV, and it shoots to #1, and is now approaching 800,000 sales, and is one of the most downloaded songs OF ALL-TIME. The Time, they perform it on TV, shoots to #1. Just like when Adele performed Someone Like You and shot straight to #1, the BEPs clearly have a massive impact on people when they perform. You might not be able to connect to their music, but many people can, that's the important thing. When they perform their art to people, people always want to see more. This is merely a testement to how good they are live.

'In The Zone' sold in the region of 27,000. In fact 'Circus' is her second fastest selling album in the UK, 'Oops!...I Did it Again' sold an average 10,000 more than her 6th LP in release week.
