I've found 4 (:o) very good songs I could easily enter that are exactly 3:01. No joke! I can just edit a few seconds of each one I guess :) I was like 'Sanna Nielsen - I'm In Love' straight away as it's 2:59, but then I read no Eurovision allowed :( I've got a few ideas already though :)

Are they allowed to be 3mins and 10/20 seconds? Aren't Eurovision songs slightly shorter/longer than 3 minutes exactly? (May only be by a couple of seconds though...)

Shorter, never longer but it is sometimes on the compilation. I'd have a ±5s leeway.

Ah. That'd be a good idea. Although I have found my entry now (after looking on my iTunes) which is 3 minutes exactly. But I need to know Peter, are we allowed to use artists who have been in the ESC before? (Not those songs, but the artists themselves) and I'm guessing normal rules apply too? (i.e. no "cheap" entries or whatever)

I'd presume artists who've been in the ESC before are permitted, so long as it isn't the track itself...

- The song has a maximum length of 3mins.

- The song may not have been in a National Final, JESC, JESC NF in addition to the 33 contest and still standing ban on ESC tracks.

Sounds like a really good idea! :D But when will the dates be for each heat and the final and Andra Chansen? Will it all be squeezed into 1 and a half weeks? Because I'm on holiday from 27th-2nd May, and if I'm going to miss all sorts of voting deadlines and confirmations, is there much point in taking part in this spin-off?

I'm up for this, I found one, but its just over the 3 minutes by 2 seconds, but it finishes under 3 minutes, its only the you tube that stretches, surely that's not a problem. :unsure:

I'm not 100% sure but I think you entered Missy Higgins into one of the earlier (maybe even the very first?) UP contests. I'm not sure whether the track was 'Peachy' though.

I thought so, I'm almost 95% certain that it was Peachy that I entered, to the mid 2007 one, at least I've remembered (I think) :lol:

Confirmation will overlap with the final of this slightly, so there isn't too big a gap between proper contests. The window for this is about 2 and a half weeks from confirmation starting tonight :)

that's fine. As long as the song itself is 3 minutes or less then that's the main thing.

I suppose I should post the provisional dates of this as well:

 

Confirmation: Monday 25th April (tonight) - Saturday 30th April

Heats: Saturday 30th April - Tuesday 3rd May

Heat results: Wednesday 4th May

Second chance round: Wednesday 4th May - Saturday 7th May

Second chance results: Saturday 7th/Sunday 8th May

Final: Sunday 8th May - Wednesday 11th May

Final results: Either the evening of Wednesday 11th or Friday 13th May

 

That's more or less how it's going to pan out. Obviously the voting periods are shorter than an actual contest because there's more to fit in and there will never be more than about 10 songs to vote on.

 

Which means that things for XXXIV should kick off around about the weekend of May 7th/8th.
