the Umbrella run was the one point I actually considered to stop listening to the charts :( 10 weeks is just too much- whatever the song, what I didn't like was it kept keeping off so many new hits :(

2007 in general was awfully slow,I hated it, Leona Lewis' 7 week run didn't change that :puke:

Shakira managed as long at #1 as Adele and longer than LMFAO!

Were you following the charts when Rihanna had her 10 week stint at the top with Umbrella? All I remember is that it was one long, wet summer - and everyone blamed her and the refusal of that song to budge from #1  She was pretty lucky actually, she was caught up in so many battles where her difference to #2 was quite small, and she lost the midweek #1 a number of times before clawing it back at the weekend. Imagine if Shakira (who sold 30-35k for pretty much 12 weeks solid) had won all of her close battles and got herself an extra few weeks at the top, it could have easily been an 8 weeker at least!

I started following the charts at the end of 2008/beginning of 2009, so no. 4-weekers seem strange to me.

I would've got annoyed with Rihanna tbh. I do remember her being #1 for ages though. In the newspapers and on those comedy chats shows and stuff, everybody kept joking that Rihanna being #1 was what caused the flooding! I always wondered if all that fuss the media were doing might've caused her to stay longer at #1 tbh!! And when Umbrella initially came out, I didn't actually like it that much. The only Rihanna song I full-on loved back in those days was Unfaithful.

However, I was following the Hot 100 during the BEPs 26 week reign at #1. That wasn't such a big deal though. That was me checking the chart once a week, not checking iTunes everyday like I do now. It was incredible to watch it unfold though! I remember being so happy when Boom Boom Pow got #1 for it's first week. Little did I know, the BEPs would STILL be #1 6 months later! :o

Had I been listening to the charts at the time of Umbrella I'd have liked to think I'd have enjoyed it, as it's one of my favourite songs, same with Grace Kelly, which also spent ages at #1, although at some point I might have got sick of it. Bleeding Love would have been another story though. I got sick of it just listening to it on the radio, and I wasn't even interested in music then.

With LMFAO now, there's so many other songs I like in the top 10 as well, and while I like PRA, I've got a bit bored of it now just sitting at the top, blocking the rest of the top 10 from #1. It reminds me of Like A G6, which I liked at first, and then hated because it was staying in the top 10 for ages and being played everywhere. Similar type of song as well.

Bleeding Love was SO big when it came out. Seriously, actually shocking. It probably would've been like a 2 million-seller if the sales climate was like this back then! :o

And I think some people probably will hate Bleeding Love forever because of how popular it was. I never actually hear it on the radio anymore, although when I went to the US on holiday, I was hearing it on the radio all the time, and this was in 2010. It's already like a classic over there.

Like a G6, I didn't mind its chart performance. I thought it'd go to #1, so I was disappointed it didn't, and I didn't think it stayed around too long. It was waaaaay too popular though, like I was hearing it everywhere. I loved the song, and it's growing on me again, but back in January, I was sick to death of it.

Why is Dev Climbing! No! No! No! Such a awful, awful song :(

I likee my beatss fast and my bass down LOW!

Matter of opinion...The proper Villians dubstep remixx iss dirty.

I always thought Try Sleeping With a Broken Toe was quite similar to Bleeding Love actually.

Yeah, literally insane. I can't imagine the uproar if that happened here. Look at how we're whining about a 4-weeker!!!

You can see all the #1s here. They were number-one from April through to October!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Hot_1..._of_2009_(U.S.)

OMG! *moopy grin*

Was that accidental or on purpose?!

One week for Poker Face and 14 weeks for I Gotta Feelin'? OMG. I know that is a different opinion form yours though . Thanks for the link.

Accidental! :o Why did I type that? I was hearing "Zane Lowe" while I typed that, so maybe I got a bit confused.

And US #1 rate, because I want to: :coffee:

Beyonce - Single Ladies - 8 - This song is legendary!! :D

Lady Gaga/Colby O'Donnis - Just Dance - 4

Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You - 8

Eminem/Dr. Dre/50 Cent - Crack a Bottle - 6 - Love the artists, the song, not so much, although I was really hyped for it when it first came out

Flo Rida - Right Round - 8 - Catchiest song ever.

Lady Gaga - Poker Face - 2 - I've aired my views on this song enough I think.

Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow - 9 - Was like "WTF" when I first heard this, but I loved it after a couple of months.

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling - 7

Jay Sean/Lil Wayne - Down - 4 - Yes, I know he's British, but I found this song really boring and generic tbh. :(

Britney Spears - 3 - 7 - This song caused such a stir with my friends. The lyrics and the orgasm noises got the song a lot of attention from all the guys in my year!

Owl City - Fireflies - 7

Jason Derulo - Whatcha Say - 9 - Like Right Round, catchiest song ever.

Jay-Z/Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind - 6

I hate Poker Face, so I'm always mentioning this, but it was actually very lucky to get a week at all. Right Round would've beaten it to #1 that week too, but it got deleted off US iTunes part way through the week, so Poker Face narrowly won in the end.

The same as I have aired my views on I Gotta' Feelin'.

I don't mind multi-weekers if I like the song. I wasn't even fed up with Umbrella after 10 weeks (though I was so pissed it beat Kate Nash by hardly any copies, I was such a Nash stan back then).

 We should lock ourselves in small, dark rooms (seperate small dark rooms, I hasten to add! :o), and play Poker Face and I Gotta Feeling (the ones we don't like), and see who survives longest without going insane! You'd probably win. I don't think I'd last very long!!

Didn't she lose out to Timbaland by less copies though? Not bothered though, as I adored all three singles! 'The Way I Are' kick started the obsession for Ms Hilson for me!

Yeah, I believe she was really close in Umbrella's last week, and Timbaland's first week.

The Way I Are is a truly brilliant song.

Keri Hilson looked sooooooooo hot in the music video too!

I preferred The Way I Are to Give It to Me tbh. Although probably because The Way I Are wasn't a Fergie diss track.

 we should. Maybe we should do a youtube mash up . Imagine :o.

It'd probably need to be rated "18", as I imagine I'd probably start self-harming or something!

Although, come to think of it, I've actually been in a lot of small, dark rooms with I Gotta Feeling playing in the background. :kink:

Never Poker Face though! :D
