I remember being very surprised at how well it was doing... when it entered the chart at #54.

But no, it's an absolutely fantastic song and it's been great to see it have the longevity it deserves in a chart largely starved of indie/rock :D The two KOL songs, The Killers' Human and MB, Journey's DSB and Snow Patrol's CC seem to be the only other recent rock songs with good longevity (Journey obviously isn't recent but it only started being a mega-runner recently :P). There have also been a few fairly long runs (30+ weeks) from 2 songs by The Kooks and Kasabian's Fire - any more I'm forgetting?

Guns N' Roses 'Sweet Child 'O Mine' seems to always be in the iTunes top 200. One day it will sell its one millionth download - one of the most consistant selling tracks alongside Eminem 'Lose Yourself'.

I Need A Dollar was actually the iTunes free single of the week here back in October last year, I downloaded it at that point, having been aware of it since last summer or thereabouts. You'd have thought it would have lost a load of sales but then I'm not sure how many people actually bother with those free downloads.
Looks like a new #1 next week for sure most likely Bruno Mars, LMFAO will get a 3rd week this Sunday,
I really hope in the next few weeks, Dirty Talk takes off and ends up being a number 1. If the airplay gets going fast, she could do it - it's gonna be pretty quiet for a few weeks!

That too - I was talking more about recent rock songs but I suppose if I include Journey I have to include GN'R too :P

I'm partially thinking free downloads could actually help a song sell more. Boom Boom Pow and Tik Tok were put up for free download, for example, and they became the year-end #1s in the US in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

I'm so happy that I Need a Dollar is #11!!!! :cheer:

what about goo goo dolls- iris for consistency?

That's also a very consistent one I think. vidcapper posted a list of the best-selling songs which hadn't entered the top 200 (i.e. the most consistent selling songs that weren't "hits") in the past 6 months sometime last year, and I think it was on there. I remember Opposite of Adults by Chiddy Bang, Lose Yourself by Eminem, Hot N Cold by Katy Perry, Low by Flo Rida being on there too.

I couldn't find it, but I found these:

Best-selling non-top 40 of 2010

1 Temper Trap Sweet Disposition 91900

2 Beyonce Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) 82400

3 Jason Mraz I'm Yours 77900

4 Drake ft Kayne West, Lil Wayne & Eminem Forever 73400

5 Chase & Status ft Plan B End Credits 68800

6 Lady GaGa ft Colby O'Donis Just Dance 68200

7 Lil Wayne ft Eminem Drop The World 68100

8 Mumford & Sons Little Lion Man 65600

9 Lady Gaga Paparazzi 61500

10 Kings Of Leon Use Somebody 60900

Best-selling non-top 75 of 2010

1 Paolo Nutini Candy 42700

2 Survivor Eye Of The Tiger 41400

3 Goo Goo Dolls Iris 40600

4 Killers Human 39900

5 Eminem Lose Yourself 39100

6 Guns N' Roses Sweet Child O' Mine 38200

7 Katy Perry Hot N Cold 38000

 Two Lil Wayne songs. Who would've thought.

Elbow's One Day Like This has spent a while in the Itunes top 200 and occasionally re-enters the top 100- another one that I don't think has left it since release, its longevity surprises me since it only got to 35, but its brilliant, so I'm glad about it

Muse- Uprising has also had surprising longevity, not initially, but its stabilized and it re-entered the top 100 last year

Yeah, those are good examples. There are actually quite a few  But nonetheless still great to see TTT have done so well with SD. Shame they didn't even go top 40 with 'Fader' but meh.

I like these climbs :D.

Really pleased for Jessie J and Birdy too.

Nooooo - Loser Like Me #22! Typical, Glee songs always tend to do this, start the week off debuting high but then start falling :/

Well, DSB aside the only promo Glee songs get is the one play on the episode on Monday night so that's not exactly surprising...

Glee would probably get better chart positions if the show was aired on a Saturday night and repeated the following Friday.

Oh yeah that is a fair point, agree with your idea, the songs would chart higher if they were released earlier.

Writer's Block by Eminem why is this in the iTunes Top200??

Good to see Gone close to the Top40.

Bruno Mars could be No1 next Sunday.

LMFAO is having a good run at No1. 3 weeks at No1 would be quite impressive. Didn't expect it to be No1 for that amount of time.

And Fast Car still in the Top10 so the BGT factor has not made Fast Car fall down.

Dirty Talk could climb into the Top20 soon.

I think Writer's Block has only just been added to UK iTunes. It only entered the top 1000 a couple of days ago anyway, and it'll probably fall out soon since it won't get any promotion. :(

Also, it's not really an Eminem song, since he only sings the chorus (and the intro and outro), although he's obviously the one selling the song. The rapper on the track is Royce, and he's done loads of collabs with Eminem, and also this one with Cee-Lo Green:

Bass Down Low. :o Hope this eventually cracks top 40!

Me too! :D And the Tinie Tempah remix is getting some radio airplay too. I hope the Tinie version is the single version, so he might get more consecutive weeks in the top 40. :D
