Go check the I-Tunes thread... its a year old for the very few peoplewho actually heard it last year. For the vast majority, its brand new.

I dont agree with that. All the Clubs have been playing the track the past year . Everyone heard the track

Yeah, cos everyone goes clubbing. So I guess its top30 on I-Tunes just on "club" play, that's pretty impressive. If it had a lot of radio and TV play, I'm sure it'd be a #1 contender, those are the main promos.

No. The last Eurovision entry I'm certain that they would have playlisted was Gina G back in 1996, although I wouldn't be at all surprised if Precious' Say It Again was playlisted in 1999, that acted more like a normal chart hit than most Eurovision entries, I know I bought it on single on its release week (so must have been aware of it) and didn't follow the contest at the time, nor did I know that it was our entry - I just loved the song! It must have been a sign

There's no way I can confirm it since I barely have any playlists from 1999, but since they did playlist Rewind and It's Gonna Be My Way in 2000, who knows, maybe they did playlist Say It Again.

Didnt ellie goulding do it with your song? or did she go straight to B list? I remember being really suprised because no one had ever heard it and it got playlisted A or B instead of C...

she went into the blist and then after a week into the alist.

it was a on air/on sale release though and was straight into the top 10 so they put it higher up.

ialways remember eminem - without me hitting the alist straight away in may 2002, can anyone confirm this?

And yet Birdy and Foo Fighters are still A-listed, the mind boggles.

maybe birdy is just gaining momentum now - its higher this week than its ever been, videos just out.

and the foos had one of the biggest first week sales for a number 1 album this year after adele!!

I'd be surprised if they hadn't. As I said, I was well aware of the song pre-release and wasn't a Eurovision follower at the time. I can't confirm how I came to be so familiar with it (probably the music channels) but I definitely recall hearing it on the radio quite a bit, and I only ever listened to Radio 1 and my local commercial station - which definitely wouldn't have played it. But it seems since the 00's hit they haven't playlisted anything - probably scared off by our epic run of diabolical entries, I guess we didn't help ourselves, it's probably why the contest has such a stigma attached to it in the UK :/

Still doesnt justify being on the A-list for so long, especially Birdy.

she went into the blist and then after a week into the alist.

it was a on air/on sale release though and was straight into the top 10 so they put it higher up.

thought so, would you say she was the first air/on sale success?

Glad Example has been added, hopefully CTWYKM will be huge!

I guess they won't be playlisting The Feeling then...

Don't think that's the case. The Feeling have been buggering around with the song since February. I'm getting really panicked that they'll flop on their arse as it's out Monday. I know they are performing at a RW bash tommorow and doing Paul O Grady on the 6th May. I dont know when radio are gonna start getting the song. Surely On Air On Sale tracks were released a few days just before they were released

In what way were Supergrass relevant enough in 2002 to be added straight to the a-list

I'm really intrigued to see what happens to Madonna upon her return. I'm sure they'll playlist the first single, whatever it is, but if it's a flop then it could be the end of Radio 1 support for her for good. How far up the playlist did Celebration get in 2009?

Interesting to see more B-list additions already this year than last, no doubt it'll become a much more common occurence now with On Air On Sale. If something becomes a hit all of a sudden, Radio 1 won't be wanting to wait around for weeks to nudge it slowly up the playlist, it'll make much more sense to debut it on a higher list.

Celebration only got to C if I recall correctly. They seemed very reluctant to playlist it and dropped it relatively quickly. Shame as I actually thought it was far better than any of her singles from Hard Candy :( Mainly for the remix used in the video though (Benny Benassi remix I think?)

I'm hoping the fact it was a token GH single may have somehow had something to do with R1's reluctance to play it. When is Madonna doing another album anyway?

so really the more hyped the act or song is, the higher it debuts on the list- I'm not surprised by any of those- Arctics went straight to A-list with their last release, yet now their still B after a few weeks :o

Not only in clubs. I bet you it will bearly scrape top 20 if anything

Which would still be pretty good considering the almost null airplay. The fact is, had it had R1 play it would be top10 by now, if you don't see that you must be blind or just dislike the song... its already top10 on Irish I-Tunes which is always a good sign, its a huge hit waiting to happen

I swear every post AV102 posts is slating Dirty Talk... It's getting annoying now, we get that you don't like it but I mean come on, it's an obvious smash!

No idea - I heard she was working on it ages ago but nothing since. I'm getting impatient tbh, better be worth the wait (ie Confessions On A Dancefloor pt II rather than Hard Candy pt II).

Nicki already off :( Where is this video ? Needs to be released ASAP !

Apparently she's doing a Super Bass vid now - dunno why! I think GFLD vid has been postponed because she wanted to get most/all (hardly possible) of the celebs she namechecks in the song.

Well. Looking forward to GFLD re-entering the top 40 in July then.

It's a shame though. The song was doing brilliantly. It didn't even have a video, so was charting solely on musical merit (and radio airplay ).

EDIT: Having said that, she wasn't in the top 50 on radio airplay last week, even! :o

Wow, that list is really useful... I had no idea Radio 1 were so supportive of Linkin Park around Hybrid Theory/Reanimation, no wonder Pts.of.Athrty went top 10 if they put it straight on the A-List.
I'm really un-happy. I want to buy Friendly Fires - Live Those Days Tonight because I hear it on the radio all the time and I can't... No wonder people nick music! I think the sooner record labels go under the better. The industry don't need them any longer.
