I didn't give the countries a score out of ten....but tonight I'd rank the songs like this:

1. Estonia

2. Serbia

3. Ireland

4. Austria

5. Georgia

6. Hungary

7. Switzerland

8. Germany

9. Azerbaijan

10. Sweden

11. Finland

12. Denmark

13. Russia (growing on me....)

14. Bosnia & Herzegovina

15. Lithuania

16. United Kingdom

17. Spain

18. Slovenia

19. Iceland

20. France

-----The Sinister Five--------

21. Romania

22. Ukraine

23. Italy

24. Greece

25. Moldova

Russia is growing on me (although probably too little to late at this stage :P)

Can we not throw Romania, Ukraine, Italy, Greece and Moldova into a bottomless pit and forget they ever happened? :(

Devestated for Estonia </3 pleased Azerbaijan finally won, although I'd rather 'Always' or 'Drip Drop' had done it.

11th isn't really going to encourage the BBC to go for gold every year =\, back to sh!t next time?

We should totally do an ESC themed version of BJSC soon.

I'll get the hat and throw the country names in....and we'll select all our votes at random it'll be so much fun.

Delighted Azerbeijan won. Pity I was getting my hopes up with looking at the odds for the UK. 11th is a reasonable result but annoying that it was just 7+ points off top 10. We were off to an excellent start as well. Oh well... I still adore I Can and Blue did us proud. They shouldn't be too disappointed as we beat last years plus Jemini and Andy. More importantly an interesting fact is this is the 3rd highest result we've had from 2000-2011 so thats a positive :P

Even though Blue just missing out on a top 10 placing is annoying they still managed 100 points which is quite decent.
What happened to Estonia? They were by far my fave.

The combination of the attention seeking Jedward and the utterly sublime wouldhavebeenawinnerhaditgotaproperslot Popular just overshaddowed it entirely.

Well i was watching Eurovision and our mouths were dropping with all the results, some were absolutely shocking! Near the end we thought we were about to catch up to Ireland only for them to move further away again

The fact that Sweden won their semi makes me wonder had they drawn a later slot, that they may have won :o

Shame about Blue though, all my mates felt they deserved top 10. its odd though as their itunes positions suggest they were more popular ie in Germany its top 10. Shocked most of the favs done terrible :o

A proper slot? What was improper about it?

Eric got a lousy draw, he was on 7th in the middle of a bloc of uptempos. It was between Sweden and Ukraine for 7th and 23rd in the running order. Had Ukraine picked the other slot out the bag, Eric would have gone 23rd. One later than the slot which Lena won from last year. Later slots statistically do much better, 2nd position in the running order has never ever produced a winner. The songs in 22nd and 24th would have provided a great contrast allowing Popular to stand out further.

Basically, if Ukraine had picked the other slot, Eurovision 2012 would be in Stockholm.

LOL at the uproar for Azerbaijan winning. Amazing song and I'm very, very pleased they managed it! (I've also decided that Azerbaijan is my favourite country to say and pronounce :heehee:)

Ugh at that awful song from Italy coming second though! Surprised France didn't do better in all honesty! :o

I'm also the only one who seems to like Blue coming 11th  Ideally anything higher would have been better and more deserved, but I still think they did exceptionally well to get so high up the leaderboard. Makes a very nice change to see us in the top half as opposed to the bottom 5 or so.

Germany BLEW ME AWAY. INCREDIBLE.

Italy coming second IS DELIGHTFUL    FUCK YOU SAADE.

FUCK YOU AZERBAIJAN.

FRANCE LOL.

4. UK

5. Azerbaijan

6. Turkey

7. Russia

8. Norway

9. Slovenia

10. Israel

LOL.

So...Blue came 11th, damn 10th would have been SO much better :(

At least you finished there ONCE and not twice in a row like a certain country that i am from. :(

11th isn't really going to encourage the BBC to go for gold every year =\, back to sh!t next time?

What part of Blue was good or different enough to go for gold? Not the horrible vocals. The song was pretty good.

TATU couldn't win on name alone and neither could Blue. Both had a mediocre performance as well.

Lena's song is growing on me big time. Fantastic stuff. And I don't get people calling Italy 'awful'.. Just because it's aimed at older audience doesn't make it awful. It was classy from start to finish.

And about the draw: performing seventh probably did effect a bit to Eric's position but it could've been worse as well. I'm more surprised that Bosnia and Denmark did so well after performing 2nd and 3rd. Finland and Hungary were slaughtered by their slots.

Seems that these days it's impossible to win from the first half. It just doesn't work in the public voting. Is it because people are not really following the first ones or drunk enough or just don't want to vote until they have heard them all and thus forget the first ones or consider them worse just because they get carried away by the show?

Since 2006 there has been NO ONE grabbing a top 3 position after performing 1st to 5th.

Winners:

2011: 19

2010: 22

2009: 20

2008: 24

2007: 15

2006: 17

In 2008 five out of top 10 performed 20th to 25th.

I have a suggestion...a bit silly though but interesting:

What if there were four semis and all songs were performed twice in different order during the semi and then a final of 12-14 songs and they too would be performed twice?

I think the BBC would've thought that name alone (+ a pretty good song) would guarantee them a top 5. I just hope that the UK doesn't fall back onto the 'oh it was bloc voting' and send Andy Abrahams again next year :P.

They, like everybody else, should have the song first and then think about who is going to perform it.

If there's not a proper national final, that is. Was Andy A. chosen by public?
