Sometimes when it's an outright trash people just don't accept it :P

That's what I'm talking about B) It has just became a habit and people buy it without looking

You're contradicting yourself massively.

People do NOT buy anything the BEPs release, because Imma Be didn't go top 40.

If Imma Be didn't go top 40 because it's "outright trash", then Don't Stop the Party can only be selling because it isn't "outright trash".

Artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, etc. could release songs, and people would always be interested in what they sound like, because they've had so many previous hits that they liked. It doesn't mean that people will buy whatever they release, but it means that people will check the song out, that radio stations will be eager to play them, etc. Exactly the same with the BEPs (except to a lesser extent, obviously).

I thought Nicole would have climbed majorly after Graham Norton. :(

Hopefully her album gets a huge boost.

Yayyy!!!!! :D

I wonder how high it could go. It would probably have been top five if it broke the top ten ages ago. It missed alot of sales stalling at #11 for weeks. :(

I mean that USUALLY people buy something from massively-known artists without looking, but when "stars" release outright trash people listen it on radio, TV, whereever, wonder "wtf?" and don't buy

No. That's not common at all with any artists. Even the first week sales of most songs by massive artists make only a small proportion of the overall sales of the song, and even a lot of the first week buyers listen to the song beforehand to see if they like it.

As I said, the music video for Don't Stop the Party was released like a month ago, and radio airplay started at a similar time. Most people that have suddenly started buying the song only now are doing so because they heard it on the radio, or saw it on MTV, and they liked it.

It did matter, how it was presented on MTV etc. For sure it was something like "The new awesome single from awesome BEP!". Then the other principle works: BIG MAN ON TV said that it's good, so it's good. Ok, i buy it ^_^

What? Are you suggesting people watch MTV, and hear the presenter say "Next up is the new awesome BEPs single", and then download the song before the video starts playing?

Ok, I give up  Think what you want

Sorry. I'm just not understanding you more than anything.

I think the vast majority of sales for most songs are from people hearing the song, liking it, and wanting to buy it. I don't think Don't Stop the Party is anything special (i.e. it's not a charity song, hasn't got an amazing music video, etc.), so I think it's selling for the same reason most other songs do.

Why do the BEPs always have to be the main conversation in this thread? :drama:

Because they're always in the iTunes chart.

Seriously though, apart from this massive conversation, I don't think we discuss them that much. I think Lady Gaga is discussed the most overall (especially a couple of months ago when she had like 4 singles out at once), although, like the BEPs, she's always in the chart.

But yeah, a conversation about Snoop Dogg or Katy B from time to time would be nice guys!

I thought they would kill Snoop Dog for "Sweat", but they didn't  Times are changing, indeed :yahoo:

I wonder if this is the highest Wonderland have ever charted on itunes they are oddly enough at 50.The BEPs are just the pop group equivalent of Britney they just make the worst kind of disposable music now.
I'm glad Katy B has climbed into the top 20, shame is needed the 59p promotion like Ellie Goulding.

Me too actually. It does seem like such a Buzzjack-unfriendly song, but people haven't seen too hostile toward it thankfully. I don't think the version produced by The Cataracs with the more explicit lyrics would've been liked on here at all though. :o

Yeah, it might be. I've never seen them that high before.

I like Britney's songs too. Especially Till the World Ends. Pop at its best imo. I'd never ever want to dispose of it. But I can imagine for people who don't like her songs it must've been unbearable during those years when she was really popular.

No Nicki! You're going the wrong way :( :( :( She needs some kind of promo, like Graham Norton or Alan Carr!

EDIT: Oh and J-Lo's on So You Think You Can Dance (the final) tonight - but she's singing On The Floor, not I'm Into You

Great decision, I would love OTF to have a bit of a sales boost and to be a big seller (it already is ofc but more sales the better). IIY is never gonna get that far as it's slightly outdated and not as good as OTF. :( J-Lo has massive worldwide sales for OTF, so she should just focus on that so it can become one of the biggest sellers of all time

Wish she'd sing 'I'm Into You'! :( As much as I love 'On The Floor', it's a big enough hit already and is falling down, whereas 'I'm Into You' needed that boost to keep it in the top 10 and maybe get top 5, and it is her current single too!
