I think she's more than made up for it with what the album sold though.

Yup - selling 1.7 million copies of Fever in the UK alone (most of those physical) is probably a lot more profitable than having a bunch of one million "selling" singles via streaming.

Kylie i think was lucky to be at her most successful when she was in the late 80's and again in the 00's as there was still money to be made from music, i think its much harder for artists now to make money from music, i know artists make money away from sales such as tours, merchandise etc. Many sales just seem inflated these days due to streaming but for me having a million selling single physically back in the day was something big to achieve hence why not loads of people managed it, these days a million selling single isn't much but i do in some way relate a 3 million selling single these days to a million selling back then.
Honestly if it was released in the streaming era it definitely would be and all the singles from the album would be Platinum. ‘Head’ would be one of those 3m+ sellers.

Had Kylie had a Fever-esque era in late 2021 instead of late 2001, CGYOOMH would probably be approaching 2 billion streams and the other Fever era singles would've all been closing in over 500 million, with IYE and LAFS both probably around 700-800 million.

Comparatively the album would've probably just gone platinum instead of five-times platinum, so I guess there's that too.

I think the BL era singles would've really benefitted from being released in a more singles-oriented time period though.

Sales update from Music Week

According to the Official Charts Company, Golden has UK sales of 166,699 and Disco is on 176,116. BMG managed to grow global streaming on Disco compared to their first release with Minogue.

Last total for 'Golden' was 157,670 the w/e 12 November 2020 which means it has averaged 69 copies per week (compared to ~100 back in 2020).

Last total for 'Disco' was 159,196 the w/e 3 February 2022 (its last week on the chart), so has averaged 253 copies per week (although worth bearing in mind that it sold 1,077 copies on its last week on the chart, so its probably shifting much lower than 253 copies now).

'Step Back in Time: The Definitive Collection' should be over 200k by now.

Overshipping Disco vinyls certainly helped.

So how much is SBIT averaging at this point? Could it reach Platinum in a few years?

Anyone got any predictions for the numbers of the DISCO singles? Hoping that we'll get some official word with the new era, but I'm wondering if we'll see any of them get silver. They've racked up a decent number of Spotify streams - with all versions combined, around 52m for Real Groove, 45m for Magic, 37m for Say Something, 29m for A Second to Midnight. Considering Dancing has around 37m and has been silver for ages, hopefully some of these won't be far from that magic 200k?

Golden and Disco pretty much similar so very consistent pattern for both, sadly its unlikely neither will reach platinum even though both deserve it. Good to see SBIT over 200k with Kylie back it should help get the album a few extra streams and the album will go platinum but not sure how long it would take, i wonder is this time 2 years in some way realistic.

Think SBIT won’t take too long…many of her biggest hits are growing, hopefully this improvement is as much in the U.K. as the rest of the world.

They should tack Santa Baby and At Christmas on ha ha. Are the top two downweighted to the average of the next ten tracks on Greatest Hits Albums as they are with studio albums or is it a different set of rules?

Be interesting to see what the Disco singles are on….I have a feeling the streams were spread out a bit more worldwide…shame none of them really exploded on streaming though of course the general numbers for Disco were much improved.

Santa Baby would definitely help streams for a few weeks of the year so tacking it on wouldn't be the worst decision they could make.
Release Kylie Christmas for the third time, this time under Kylie Christmas: Snow Queen Edition: Step Back In Time Collection with another two discs for the SBIT tracks so that we could fit Santa Baby on there too B-)
^^ This, I don’t know why they just don’t add a few of the Christmas tracks to streaming version of the album every October - get those ‘sales’ a la Becky Hill, Mabel, Ella Henderson etc

Do we have a guesstimation of how many of those are vinyl sales?

The OCC released an updated list of her most streamed tracks. Good to see that even Kids, her tenth most streamed song these days, has more streams than CGYOOMH did back just 5 years ago.

Let's do a quick rundown of her top ten most streamed songs and the amount of units they've earned since June 2014 (when streaming began to be counted). Note that the streaming units are based on the ratio that around 85% of streams are paid streams (based on the information provided by Jay in the next post):

#1. Santa Baby: 74M (~647,500 units)

#2. Can't Get You Out of My Head: 57M (~498,800 units)

#3. Love at First Sight: 22M (~192,500 units)

#4. Spinning Around: 21.6M (~189,000 units)

#5. Dancing: 21.1M (~184,600 units)

#6. All The Lovers: 15M (~131,300 units)

#7. Say Something: 13M (~113,800 units)

#8. The Loco-Motion: 12.4M (~108,500 units)

#9. Better The Devil You Know: 12.1M (~105,900 units)

#10. Kids: 11M (~96,300 units)

Because we do not have exact proportions for these songs' paid and ad-supported streams, these are just estimates at best and the final figures might be higher or slightly lower.
