Here's a list of Kylie's lead single peak positions, in order of release date. Unless otherwise stated, the singles spent one week at the peak position:

Red = #01

Blue = Top 10 (#02 - #10)

Green = Top 20 (#11 - #20)

01. #01 I Should Be So Lucky [Kylie, 1988] (#1 for 5 weeks)

02. #01 Hand on Your Heart [Enjoy Yourself, 1989]

03. #02 Better the Devil You Know [Rhythm of Love, 1990] (#2 for 2 weeks)

04. #16 Word Is Out [Let's Get to It, 1991]

05. #14 What Kind of Fool (Heard All That Before) [Greatest Hits, 1992]

06. #02 Confide in Me [Kylie Minogue, 1994]

07. #22 Some Kind of Bliss [impossible Princess, 1997]

08. #01 Spinning Around [Light Years, 2000]

09. #01 Can't Get You Out of My Head [Fever, 2001] (#1 for 4 weeks)

10. #01 Slow [body Language, 2003]

11. #02 I Believe in You [ultimate Kylie, 2004]

12. #04 2 Hearts [X, 2007]

13. #03 All the Lovers [Aphrodite, 2010]

14. #12 Into the Blue [Kiss Me Once, 2014]

15. #155 Only You [Kylie Christmas, 2015]

16. #38 Dancing [Golden, 2018]

17. #56 Say Something [Disco, 2020]

18. #26 Padam Padam [Tension, 2023] (so far!)

The #16, #14 and #22 outcomes amongst a lot of #1 and #2 leads - this will always seem like such a curiosity!

Kind of interesting that she didn't experience a more mildly successful lead single, like a low Top 10. I suppose '2 Hearts' is the closest to being a slightly average performing lead... not a total smash like her other Top 5 leads. I wonder if 'Wow' could have gone Top 2 if it had been a lead instead of '2 Hearts'? :thinking:

'Dancing' at #38 looks so unjustifed in this list, as does 'Say Something' at #56. Athough of course we know the context of these positions and that they were pretty great outcomes considering how the charts operate these days / how they treat older artists.

Somehow it feels a bit weird to consider 'Only You' as being a lead single. I will forever be miffed at Parlophone for not having more faith in 'Kylie Christmas' and choose an original to lead with. <_<

Here's the same list but in order of highest to lowest peaks (for singles that peaked at the same position, I've just arranged them in order of release):

#01 I Should Be So Lucky [Kylie, 1988] (#1 for 5 weeks)

#01 Hand on Your Heart [Enjoy Yourself, 1989]

#01 Spinning Around [Light Years, 2000]

#01 Can't Get You Out of My Head [Fever, 2001] (#1 for 4 weeks)

#01 Slow [body Language, 2003]

#02 Better the Devil You Know [Rhythm of Love, 1990] (#2 for 2 weeks)

#02 Confide in Me [Kylie Minogue, 1994]

#02 I Believe in You [ultimate Kylie, 2004]

#03 All the Lovers [Aphrodite, 2010]

#04 2 Hearts [X, 2007]

#12 Into the Blue [Kiss Me Once, 2014]

#14 What Kind of Fool (Heard All That Before) [Greatest Hits, 1992]

#16 Word Is Out [Let's Get to It, 1991]

#22 Some Kind of Bliss [impossible Princess, 1997]

#26 Padam Padam [Tension, 2023] (so far!)

#38 Dancing [Golden, 2018]

#56 Say Something [Disco, 2020]

#155 Only You [Kylie Christmas, 2015]

Looking at the single chart history since the ‘Golden’ era it’s so incredible to think a Top 20 place is achievable this week :cheeseblock:

What a beautiful chart run :wub:

Already over 50k sold! It'll obviously pass Silver at this point, but could it go Gold?

I’m sure of Gold. Silver it seems will be done by October, unless it starts to drop hard.

For example, there are 16 weeks until the week starting 29th Sep. To reach silver by that date it needs to sell averagely 9.4k per week. And right now she’s doing around 15k just from streaming per week.

Next week will be mayhem for the midweeks - cassettes will be shipping ‘from’ Thursday so we’ll have no idea how many they’ve sold and reported for the chart on Friday :lol:
If 'Dancing' can comfortably be over silver, I can't see how this won't easily go gold. I think it'll even at least reach platinum in the longrun, but who knows how far it can go?
Gold would be incredible! Whenever it reaches that stage, it seems that would be enough to be within her Top 15 best sellers? :o

#155 Only You [Kylie Christmas, 2015]

Reckon she’ll be on the way to platinum before the end of 2023.

We’re only in the first wave of the Pademic right now.

Only Kylie Christmas & Disco letting down the pack with the lead singles not going Top 40 :drama:

I do think they could have easily got SS and Magic to just scrap in if they had tried.

I didn't realise that The Loco-Motion isn't certified! :o Is that because her label didn't bother applying for a certification pre-1994? How strange that they didn't when it must have been applicable for Silver at least. I suppose it's still not got Silver certified now because it hasn't sold 200,000+ yet post-1994?

A shame that Especially for You and I Should Be So Lucky will forever be stuck on Gold when they should really be Platinum. :( Could Hand on Your Heart have sold 600k overall yet? That's noted as being 515k in August 2019... I guess 85k since then isn't realistic...
