Perhaps even more randomly, 'Last Christmas' by Wham is a re-entry at #83 on the same chart! I wonder why they bother compiling it :P

Although I saw a few online indie stores had reduced the recent vinyl reissue of that down to a few pounds so probably explains the handful of sales - no idea where Kylie copies have been unearthed from 18 years later though

As you say surprised they even bother with a Top 100 physical chart now.

Ya I was just wondering who would stock a cd single so many years after its release.

I doubt they are *actually* stocking it as such, more a case of that it haven't been sold and are languishing away in a bargain bin - it also probably helps that I suspect her record label thought it would be a bigger hit than it was with the Fischerspooner remix even being promoted. I still run across 10-15 year old singles (!) in some shops that just weren't sold originally. For whatever reason Clea's We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off was seemingly ridiculously overstocked in Sweden...

Its years since i have seen any cd singles anywhere, i would love to come across a bargain bin of cd singles as im sure there is a few i would pick up. If they were cheap i would pick up any kylie ones just get the sales for them in!!

Added some debut/peak week sales to the sales post on the first page: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=3620206

Interesting to find out the 2002 re-issue of the 1992 Greatest Hits debuted with pretty much the same sales as last year's Step Back in Time! I'd like to know just how high its sales got the closer to Christmas, considering it managed a total of well over 200k by the end of 2002 with a chart run of 20-27-28-30-32-32... I think most people forget about this release as it was essentially a cash-in on the success of Fever, yet it ended up a Platinum album!

Proving just how high sales were in the late 90s, I've had a look at the estimates for the Top 10 in the two weeks that 'Did It Again' and 'Breathe' were released: for the former, the #10 sold 49k; for the latter, the #10 sold 31k. To think that 'Did It Again' might just have had higher first week sales than 'Slow'!

That release did way better than expected plus it was a release kylie didnt support at all, i think if i remember right kylie was almost saying not to buy it, but we all did to have for the collection.

Yes she was against it, I think mainly because they didn’t tell her about it and didn’t use her image on the sleeve!

She done a tie-up with Heat Magazine to produce a double sided album cover with her on it to slip inside the case (now highly sought after!)

It was a highly similar circumstance with the Best Of Kylie release in 2012.

This was a misjudged of little appeal release.

The nicest word I can use for that cover is awful.

I am happy it never proceeded to anything greater.

It’s not the best - Kylie was p!ssed about them not using her image, there was a message from Kylie in the magazine and on the back of the picture.

What a crazy stupid decision by the label not to use an actual Kylie image on the release.

It doesn't make sense at any level of decision making.

CD singles were massive from 95 onwards until of course mp3 took over from 2000....shame she had a career downturn with deconstruction. I miss those days of cd1 and 2, cassingles and the free gifts. All for a couple of £.

Do you think Dancing will reach Silver status in the UK soon? It was at 161,000 units last August. It's been 9 months since, I hope we can get an update.

We need a little boost from Britain’s Got Talent or something to get sales of ‘Dancing’ moving towards silver.

Excited that it will happen at some point though :yahoo:

Even if it happens in a year, it would be great. Her first certified record since All The Lovers I think.

Yes her last single release to get a certification (Although Santa Baby and On A Night Like This were awarded Gold and Silver after ATL).

I’m sure the decision was so the label avoided having to give money to a certain photographer or to Kylie herself for using her image? It would have been a cost cutting exercise to go with a body double that somewhat captured her essence. The album was simply a cheap cash in that rode the wave of Kylie’s huge success at the time. In the end it was a platinum album so it doesn’t seem like it was a bad decision per se.
