We could do with a sales update like the one we received in 2019… those were ace.

I know! :( Can't believe it's been 3 years.

Sorry guys, haven't been in contact with the guy who gave me the numbers the last time. Just asked for an update, fingers crossed!

Thank you

Does anybody have any recent figures on "I Believe in You"? It's one of my favorite songs and I'm kind of shocked it isn't any bigger in terms of streaming. I really think that song aged so well and sounds fresh even in today's soundscape.

I’m sure I read somewhere recently that it was certified silver meaning sales of over 200k. It should have sold a lot more but it was released at a time when sales were low.

'I Believe in You' was certified Silver on 24th July 2020; the previously known figure before that was 191,957 exactly 52 weeks prior. If it continued selling at that rate, total sales now would be 215k.

Estimates for some Kylie albums as of w/e 10 November 2022, based on the averages between previous sale totals (in brackets are the increases since the November 2020 update).

506,100 Light Years (+7,700)

1,736,000 Fever (+11,700)

404,100 Body Language (+800)

476,500 X (+2,900)

341,000 Aphrodite (+5,500)

93,900 Kiss Me Once (+3,000)

168,200 Golden (+11,100)

193,000 Step Back in Time (+64,400)

Step back in time coming nicely to 200k which is good and in time will go platinum but probably take at least 2 years to do it.

I wonder how long it will take kiss me once to make gold.

For some reason I thought body language was on much higher sales than it is , I thought it was around 500k.

Thanks for the update, does that include the Fever vinyl sales too?

I thought I had included it but on recount it looks like I left them out. I've edited the post now.

'Can't Get You Out of My Head' has been revealed as the 9th best selling single from the 00s. When the OCC did their 00s list at the end of 2009, 'Head' was 7th. It has overtaken 'Do They Know It's Christmas' but overtaken itself by 'I Gotta Feeling', 'Sex on Fire' and 'Chasing Cars'.

'Head' completed the 00s with 1.1m so has managed another 100k on downloads since then.

9. Can't Get You Out Of My Head

Artist: Kylie Minogue

Released: 2001

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 1

Total UK sales: 1.21 million

The story of how Can't Get You Out Of My Head made its way to Kylie is almost as interesting as the song itself; written originally for S Club 7 and rejected by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the song made its way to Kylie as she was on a massive come-up following her successful pivot back into commercial pop with 2000's Light Years.

Hypnotic, engrossing and still sounding just a little bit like the future, this bold mid-career swing would prove once and for all that no-one embodies the image of a pop star quite like Kylie when she's firing on all cylinders.

I really wish that fake fact about Sophie Ellis-Bextor rejecting it would stop being perpetuated already. :(

Yeah Sophie has said a few times she never received it hasn't she? Unless it was passed by her label before she got the chance to hear it. Definitely makes more sense for it to be offered to her than S Club 7 though, I just can’t picture them singing this whatsoever!
