July 1, 201113 yr IMO Matt Cardle should be aiming for music in the style of a 'one man' Bon Jovi but brought right up to date. The kind of big rock power ballads very few are releasing now...those big sing-a-long numbers that people go wild for when they are drunk and/or at a live gig. His version of "When Love Takes Over" on the XFactor was a good example of doing a song in a Power Ballad style and bringing it right up to date.
July 1, 201113 yr Shayne flopped with album 3 because of his p*** poor marketing. Matt isn't wholly signed to Syco so it's probably fair to assume he'll be marketed decently. That's all it really comes down to TBH, the marketing. True, the X-Factor slot for GBS (which was tbf an average at best song) was literally it, and because nothing else done marketing wise it didn't even go top 10 (officially, it did on iTunes iirc), and the album flopped.
July 1, 201113 yr Cascada have flopped but i guess a dance band getting to their 4th album with the shocking AATW lable behind you is a massive achivement!
July 2, 201113 yr IMO Matt Cardle should be aiming for music in the style of a 'one man' Bon Jovi but brought right up to date. His version of "When Love Takes Over" on the XFactor was a good example of doing a song in a Power Ballad style and bringing it right up to date. The version of When Love Takes Over he did seemed to basically be him singing the song over the instrumental to Clocks by Coldplay. It was very good though, whatever he was doing. However, I'm almost certain he won't be releasing songs like that. Most of his songs will probably be slower.
July 2, 201113 yr I'd much rather see Matt Cardle come back with a really strong original track. It did wonders for the likes of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke. Even Diana Vickers (initially anyways), Olly Murs and JLS benefitted from releasing new material. Notice how Leon Jackson, Joe McElderry and Shayne Ward's first "proper" singles were all covers ('Don't Call This Love', 'Ambitions' and 'No Promises) and look what happened to them. The dreaded cover looks like it's a curse - especially if it's the follow up to your X Factor winners single.
July 2, 201113 yr Shayne did well enough with 'No Promises' and he managed another two top 10 hits after that. It was only with album 3 that he started flopping. But yes, it would be disastrous if Matt comes back with a cover. Hopefully he'll come back with a song he's written himself.
July 3, 201113 yr I thought No Promises was an original song... Oh dear. :( So his first original singles were No U Hang Up & If That's Ok With You Then? Shame, as I thought No Promises was brilliant. :(
